Default Gryffindor House Table

by Gideon Gert (Macavity)

The Lions sit under a bright crimson and gold banner representing their house. It seems to be lit from within by the bright, fiery colors of the setting sun.

Who Am I? Ern's 2460FUN

Selina walked down to the Great Hall in her black and red robes with a certain level of disbelief. It was over. The year and so many other things. It meant that Vivi was graduating and Gideon and, this one was the hardest, Kurumi was too. There had not been one part of her entire experience here that Kurumi had not touched and now she was going to be graduating. The sixth year herself did not know what the summer was going to bring about, but no matter what happened to Selina's future- Kurumi was definitely going in a different direction then her own. And she was not sure how she felt about that. It had been them against the world for SIX years. No more.

And then there was Vivi. She had only known the girl for a year, but it did not change the fact that the blonde had changed her life for good. The sixth year had found a true companion in Vivi. They had been partners in crime and experienced so many things together. She was the Sherlock to her Watson. The adventure was over now. Just like Kurumi, they would stay friends but nothing would ever be the same.

And Gideon. He was leaving too. Even though they had broken up, he had been a huge part of her Hogwarts experience. When she looked back at this part of her life he was not just going to be a nameless face. It would be vivid and real what they shared. And even though that part of their relationship was done, he had been a part of her life and she would miss him too.

Catching her breath, she took a seat at the Gryffindor House Table. Now all they could do was wait. Her blue eyes flickered up to the staff table for a moment and she saw the two empty professor seats. This year had been such a weird one. And a sad one. And a happy one. It was a happy/sad year. And Selina was afraid for it to end because that meant she would have to face everything that was heading her way. And she was not sure she was ready just yet.

This was it.

The end of term feast.

The one thing other than the last train ride home that Gideon was absolutely dreading. Sure he had been preparing for this all term knowing it would eventually come and so much awaited him on the other side but it was still sad. His trunk was mostly packed and Corvin had returned home ahead of time so that was one less thing he needed to worry about. Nothing like his familiar causing trouble on top of anything else.

With bated breath, he entered the Great Hall, his movements slow as if taking everything in one last time. The room was decked out in decor fitting for a great occasion and it was, something that came along only once a term and celebrated all the good and bad of the year. Of course it still felt odd to not have Tate there in front but it wasn't like it something he had to continue to miss next year.

Gideon looked towards the various tables lined up once more, his gaze finally resting on the Gryffindor House table...his place for seven long and happy years. A sigh escaped him, a mixture of contentedness and sadness. It wasn't hard to notice the familiar redhead already there, the sixth year the only one there at the moment, and he bit his lip debating his next actions.

"Um...hey..." he said quietly as he slowly approached. They had only seen each other in passing for the most part since the scene on the practice pitch. They had been friendly but he hadn't wanted to push anything. Though he knew he couldn't exactly avoid her at the feast and possible the train. Not that he really wanted to...he still wanted to act like the friends they still were.

"Mixed feelings" didn't seem like enough to describe what Jake was feeling as he walked down to the closing feast. His first year at Hogwarts was almost over. He'd survived. Which, apparently, was a feat to be proud of. He'd made the Quidditch team, and he'd done well in his classes. He'd even made a few friends. While making a few not-so-friends in the process.

But the closing feast meant summer vacation. That meant going home to where he had nobody. Speaking to Anya and Penelope only by phone. Not seeing them every day. No flying. No magic. For two months.

His head down, Jake entered the Great Hall. He made his way to the Gryffindor table, not really paying attention to much. When he reached the table, though, he looked up. And instantly a familiar head of red hair caught his attention. Without really thinking, he broke into a jog and hurried toward her, sliding across the bench a little and wrapping both of his arms around her in a hug that she had no choice but to be a part of.

"HeyCap," he mumbled with a squeeze.

Sir Nicholas floated up through the Gryffindor house table to float near the Gryffindor Captain Selina. "Good evening lions!" he boomed out with a warm smile. It was going to be a good feast. He could feel it in the air.

Instead of making her way up to the dais, as she usually did, Seren made her way over to the Gryffindor table. Partly to see that everything was in order and that they hadn't gotten up to any trouble in the short time frame they had been unleashed upon the great hall, and partly because she wanted to see a few of the faces properly, for the last time at Hogwarts.

"How are we all? Excited? Nervous? Packed?"... or were they the last minute type of people too.

She wasn't fully done with her packing and crying but she decided to take a break and head down to the feast. The last one of the term...after this she wouldn't be seeing many of the faces ever again. Entering the Great Hall and seeing some of them would have made her start crying again but by now she had strengthened her resolve to not cry. Enough of that was done already.

Without very much spirit she dragged herself to the Gryffindor Table and eyed everyone there. The Prefect struck her immediately...he wouldn't be coming back...

"Hi..." She muttered to all of them, offering a little smile where she could and a small wave to Jake, then she plopped down in her seat and prepared to be miserable. Oh. Sir Nicholas. "Good Evening." She responded quietly, her voice seemed to be refusing to go higher at the moment.

Her eyes then fell on her Head of House. "I'm almost packed..." She wouldn't even comment on her sinking mood. It wasn't worth mentioning; not when the woman looked so merry about things.

Kurumi had told Selina to go on ahead without her while she hung back in the dorms with Walnut. It wasn't that she didn't want to keep with tradition and head down to the feast together - at least as far as the moving staircases - but she just had wanted a moment alone to sit and reflect and take everything in without any distractions. It was surreal knowing that this would be her last night at Hogwarts and that once she got off the train the next morning she wouldn't be a Hogwarts student but a graduate. A graduate that didn't have the safety net of the castle to fall back on but the future to step in to.

It was....surreal. Humbling. Hard to swallow.

She had eventually come down after several minutes of just sitting on her bed and looking around and now she stood at the entrance to the Great Hall where she could already hear the voices of her fellow students chit chatting away. Surprisingly, she found herself smiling instead of forcing herself to like she thought she would. Just being here. Feeling the energy. The synergy. Feeling Hogwarts was enough to do that.

Taking a deep breath, Kurumi stepped fully into the Great Hall and made her way towards the Gryffindor table while idly playing with her bracelet. She spotted Selina and would have slipped immediately into the seat beside her when she notice, "Sir Nicholas! Welcome back," she chirped, bowing towards the ghost. How had he gotten out of the brooch? In fact, wasn't that the Bloody Baron over at the staff table?! How...when....why... Kurumi was just glad to see that he was alright.

He was alright, right?

Oh! And there was Gideon, who got a wave, as did Jake, Alexa, and Arabella. She had almost missed them due to the presence of a ghost that she thought would be forever trapped inside an Egyptian brooch.

Kurumi then saw Professor Bentley, looking very lovely with all those flowers in her hair, and her palms became sweaty. She hadn't expected to see her Head of House so early in the evening and, to be entirely honest, she wasn't ready to hand over the letter she had written the Herbology professor. Not yet. Not to any of the professors and those close friends. Not that Kurumi was sure she would ever really be ready. And then there was the simple question of 'How are we all?' Usually a simple fine or good would be the first thing out of the seventh year's mouth...but not now. There really was no ONE way to answer that question. Kurumi was feeling everything and yet nothing at once. "Overwhelmed," she murmured in replied without really realizing that she had spoken. "I-I-I-I mean..." Only Kurumi really didn't know what she meant.

Oh! She was forgetting something! Well, not forgetting, but just delaying something and right now it seemed like the best sort of thing to. Squeaking softly, Kurumi retrieved a box from within her robes and tapped the lid with her wand to banish it. Another swish and flick later and the Gryffindor table had a perimeter of dancing house cookies - Kurumi's signature since the end of term feast her first year. With a nostalgic smile on her lips, Kurumi slipped into the seat beside Selina and laughed softly.

Arabella-Marie spotted Kurumi waving at her and waved back and smiled as Kurumi appeared with the dancing house cookies which was good as it was a tradition there was a pang of sadness deep within Arabella-Marie as she knew she would probably never see Kurumi again

Default Pixie Hollow! [Kurumi]
Kimothée Chalamet • The UWU Agenda • Once Baby, Now Trouble • All Growed Up

The other reason why Kat still hated the End-of-term feast, besides no Quidditch, was saying goodbye. Especially to the seventh years every term. She had a lot of people to thank this term. A LOT. Young or mature, these people have made a big impact in Kat's fourth year. The blonde went for a walk at the Gryffindor House Table. Maybe she had to say some thanks and goodbyes to some Gryffindors. Yeah, that was part of her plan this evening.

The big bang to her was when she saw Kurumi. Oh... Kurumi was graduating this term. And Kat didn't have enough time to say how amazing she thought Kurumi was. You know, since she was an ickle!firstie she always thought Kurumi was cool. She even named her the Lion Prefection. But, since Kat will never see Kurumi again as a student at Hogwarts, she had to go tell her now. NOW.

Kat walked to Kurumi, biting her lower lip. "Hi Kurumi," she said. She had so much to say and she couldn't put them in order. But she had to speak up. Instead of speaking up, Kat just started to tear up and hugged the graduating Gryffindor. "I don't want you to leave..." This was unusual. Kat barely cried. But for someone who has been looking up to a student who was graduating now, nobody could blame her. "Good luck..."

Yeah... she won't release the hug... but slowly she did. Wimp.

Daichi had felt like a stalker when he had been watching the doors of the Great Hall from the Slytherin table. But he couldn't help it. He wanted to see his big sister one last time so badly. It took some time but finally he saw the Prefect enter the hall and going to the Lions table.

The Snake immediately jumped up from the bench and took a deep breath. But instead of walking to the Gryffindor section, he flicked his wrist and his phoenix feather wand fell out of the holster he was wearing. He cleared his throat as he tried to remember the incantation he had seen in a spell book during studying for his OWLS and smiled when he remembered it.

He waved his wand quietly as to not draw attention to himself and whispered the "Incarcerous!" charm. He hadn't aimed at anyone nor Kurumi but just the ground. The spell failed though as he only produced some random sparks and Daichi sighed because he knew it would happen. "Incarcerous!" he tried again though nothing happened. "Incarcerous! Incarcerous!"

This time, a piece of rope fell on the floor and the fifth year squealed with excitement. He picked it up and wrapped one half around his arm, tightened it and as he walked to the Gryffindors the other end of the rope was dangling behind him. Hopefully no one tripped on it....

Spotting the prefect near Professor Bentley, he quietly made his way towards her until he stood next to her. Without saying anything, he grabbed her arm though not hurting her of course, and quickly wrapped the other end of the rope around her arm so that they were...tied together~!

"Now you caaaan't leave~! " he said and tried his evil laugh that sounded more like a highpitched dolphin. "You'll stick with me until i graduate~!" he smiled brightly as it radiated of his face.

"Oh! Professor Bentley!" he suddenly turned to the Herbology Professor. "Your hair looks really pretty with those flowers!"

So here he was at the table of red and gold.... and the house that won Gobstones. Something he was personally aiming for but alas... you dont get everything you wanted. If theres one thing he really learned well in Hogwarts, it was that.

Kurumi was rather busy with her well wishers and so he hung back and waited his turn. When he managed to find a gap in the throng he managed to slip in a gift box in front of her. "For old time's sake Kurumi..." he murmured quickly, trying not to be intrusive or take up much of her time... or everybody else's "Sorry if I havent gotten the chance to hang around much this term. Schedules.... you know how it is." And she had her cares and he had his. He was just relieved to get through this term in one piece. Literally.

SPOILER!!: Kurumi's gift

Floating towards the young first year Sir Nicholas gazed at her thoughtfully. "Good evening, Alexa. Is something troubling you?" The 11 year old was usually so full of life and energy but not at the moment. She looked sad.

So. The End of Term Feast.

Penelope had a lot of mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, it was good because it meant the term was over and she would get to finally see Ascanius again. On the other hand, it meant she'd have to deal with her grandparents and such for two months again, and it meant that the seventh years were leaving and she wouldn't see them next term. And it meant two months of not seeing her friends every day. She'd make it work and make sure she got to see them at least a little bit, but it wasn't as easy as walking across the common room to talk to them now. And it would never be that easy again for the seventh years who were graduating.

And yet, Penelope did still think she was looking forward to when it was her time to do that. Because it meant she'd be an adult and she would be able to completely take care of herself and live where she wanted, even if it meant she'd also have to leave the only home she'd ever known.

But she still had several years until then, so no need to think about it now. Right now, it was time to focus on the ones who actually were seventh years.

And as she scanned the Gryffindor table, the first one she spotted was Kurumi. And then Gideon. She had something for both of them - it really wasn't much, but it was the only thing she could think of, especially for Kurumi. She just hoped they were good enough because this was definitely not her thing.

The second-almost-third year sent a small smile to the others she saw at the table and walked over to Kurumi first, holding out one of the small boxes she held in her hands and surprisingly ignoring the dancing Gryffindor cookies for the moment. "This is for you," she said before shifting over a few places and handing the second box out to Gideon. "And this one's for you. I hope you guys like them..." In the boxes, they would find a batch of simple sugar cookies that Penelope had made. It had taken a few tries to get them looking decent enough since she kept burning them, and they'd kept tasting weird because she'd mess up one of the ingredients, but eventually she succeeded at making them decently, so there they were. It seemed like a good gift to her, since Kurumi was always making cookies for other people (and Penelope was not ashamed to admit she was one of them) so someone ought to try making some for her for a change, yeah? And surely Gideon liked cookies too, right? So it seemed an acceptable graduation gift to her...assuming they liked them...

Gideon wasn't expecting the running lion before him, but suddenly Jake had slipped between him and Selina and giving the redhead a hug. He almost bit back a chuckle at the antics but let the laughter go. These were the fun things he would miss but tonight he was going to live them up as best he could. Make more memories to tide himself over for however long it took before more.

"Do behave Keller when I'm gone..." he said said with a smirk as he teased the fourth year. Jake would be an upperclassman officially next term and he'd need to step up as one of the older, more responsible lions to set an example for the younger ones.

SPOILER!!: Sir Nicholas

Gideon sat down on the nearest bench yet turned as Sir Nicholas approached the table greeting them all. It sure was nice to see the Gryffindor House Ghost back and seemingly alright as a ghost can be after the incident with the locket. "Good evening, Sir Nicholas," he greeted with a smile. "Welcome back." The ghost was one thing he would likely never see again seeing as it wasn't like he went outside Hogwarts and the seventh year wasn't exactly planning on ever being inside the castle after tomorrow.

SPOILER!!: Bentley

"How are we all? Excited? Nervous? Packed?"... or were they the last minute type of people too.

And then Professor Bentley showed up and Gideon remembered he had left the gift for her in the common room. Inward groan though he made a note to slip it to her before the end of feast. "Good evening, Professor Bentley," he greeted, his controlling starting to falter slightly.

"Nervous...definitely," Gideon admitted answering her question posed to them all. Forget bravery at times, there were just things that were bound to set people on edge. "And mostly packed."

SPOILER!!: Kurumi

The third and final student leader chose that time to make her appearance in the Great Hall and Gideon offered her a friendly smile as she looked around. The girl looked like it was likely she was doing the exact thing he had been doing just a short time before when he had entered...trying to take it all in and make a mental picture one last time.

He waved back as his fellow prefect and departing Gryffindor. At least there was someone he knew and was friends with that had any clue what this night was truly like. The thoughts of leaving it all and the friendships that would change. When she answered Bentley, he couldn't help but nod at the simple word she gave in response. Overwhelmed worked too. At least she didn't fail in the keeping up appearances department, the cookie maker unleashing fresh-baked house cookies for all as always.

That was Kurumi.

Gideon had let his mind wander as he starred at the table for a few moments, trying to keep himself from being anything but positive for the feast. There was no point in dwelling on anything else. It was for this reason with his thoughts distracted that he hadn't noticed the seeker until she was right up beside him and offering a white box for him to take. He took a quick peek before offering her a smile in return.

"Aye...I'm sure I will. Even better as they are a gift." Something he hadn't been expecting at all and he was touched. Keep it together there, Gert, he mentally berated himself. Gideon just knew it was going to be a long twenty-four hours. "Thanks Penelope," he added truly grateful for the gesture.

Selina found herself dazzing out and losing focus with what was going on around her as she sat in the Great Hall virtually alone. No one else had really arrive yet, so the empty room was a great place to be alone with her thoughts. She thought about everything possible. The past, the present, the future she was not entirely certain of- everything. And just when she thought she had it all somewhat figured out, somehow compartmentalized into boxes in her head that kept everything tidy, she heard a voice and all of thoughts became jumbled a little.

She sat up with a start and look at the person who had awoken her out of her daze and there stood Gideon. He looked a little worried to be there and talking to her and she could not blame him. The last time that they had spoken had been under very bad circumstances. Luckily for them, the end of the year seemed to gobble them up into their respective busy duties, so it gave them time to breath.

So when he said hello, she smiled warmly at him and returned, "Oh... hey there, Gi-"

"-WOAH!" Selina laughed as she felt someone slide down the bench and ram straight into her, wrapping her up into a tight hug. She threw her head back with laughter at the surprise attack and then looked down to see who was her attacker. It was Keller. He made her smile and she mutually wrapped her arms around him and said with a chuckle in her voice, "Hey there, Keller. You, um, okay there?"

Nice kid. He had really grown on her since the beginning of the year. At the start of the year, he had just been Anya's boyfriend and the guy who was eternally stamping on her little lion Penelope's heart, but a lot had changed in a year. He had made her team and shown that he was a dedicated player who was willing to do what he had to do for the people he cared about, which was serious brownie points with Selina. She saw him get his heart trampled on himself and handle it better then she ever could have.

All-in-all, she had grown fond of the quirky fourth year who seemed to always be the center of team turmoil. Eh, but that was what families were for, yeah?

Turning her head to the side because Keller was still hugging her, she nodded to Sir Nicholas and said, "Hello Sir Nicholas. Are you ready for the summer break?"

Once Bentley walked into the Great Hall though, that was when Selina untangled herself from Keller's hug. She had to go and talk to her Head of House and if Keller wanted to hug her later, he could, but right now she had some things to do at this closing feast. After all... she still was not sure about how FINAL this final feast was going to be.

Turning around on her bench to face Professor Bentley, she smiled warmly at her Professor and Head of House and said, "Evening Professor. And yeah, all packed... Kurumi was on my bum about it." Literally, the seventh year had been harping her for days to get all of her things together because she did not want to have another Mortimer incident. Seriously, your bat goes missing for a YEAR and everyone thinks you aren't organized. The nerve.

SPOILER!!: Arabella

As she turned back away from Bentley to talk to the Gryffindors at her table, she saw Arabella. She nodded in the seventh year's way and gave her a smile. Man, so many people were graduating.

Selina did not even need to look to her left to know who had slipped into the seat beside her own. There was something that happened when you had a best friend the way that Selina and Kurumi had their friendship- you always just knew when they were near. So she smiled sadly and put an arm around her best friend's shoulder, still without even looking at her. Picking up a lion mid-dance, Selina popped the cookie in her mouth and finally turned to look at her best friend.

She was NOT going to cry. Selina Arden Skylar did not cry- ever. It was just a sign of weakness and there was no way that she was going to do that, especially not in the Great Hall, but her eyes were misty. She was going to lose her best friend to the outside world. She would have to share her now and no doubt Kurumi was going to do amazing things. She always had.

Pulling herself a together, she grinned at her, "You ready?" Selina wasn't.

The redhead kept her arm around her best friend's shoulder as one of her favorite little lions oh who was she kidding? She loved them all... even if Anya got under her skin ninety-five percent of the time approached the table. Grinning in Penelope's direction, she asked, "Hey kiddo... ready for summer?" No doubt she would be excited to get to spend time with her friends and family. And NO ONE ELSE.

Arabella-Marie nodded back at Selina and gave the sixth year a nod back this was another person that Arabella-Marie would miss after the times of playing qudditch with Selina

Laura had come down to the Gryffindor Table to look for the one person she really wished she didn't have to say goodbye too, it was really hard to say goodbye to a friend, they wouldn't be able to spend time together at the lake chatting, or just having fun, it was going to be really hard next term without her to talk too, now where was Arabella, Laura had to say goodbye and maybe beg her to come back next term as a seventh year.

Maxwell walked to the Gyrffindor Table late...he'd been busy packing his things and then Tiberius, his pet cat wouldn't stop following him around, eventually he got the cat to stop by giving him a treat and closing him in his dorm room. Once in the hall he saw everything going on, all his fellow Gryffindors at the table and seeming to have a great time.

He wasn't ready to go back, not yet. Not when things at home were apparently so rocky, this would normally be a summer he'd ignore his father's house but now he was stuck there. He took his seat and noted Sir Nicholas floating around. Itching the back of his head, he searched the other tables for his friends..Slytherin...was Ariana there? Probably surrounded by her team...Hufflepuff...what about Min? Were they even friends at this point? Probably not, moving to Ravenclaw he spotted Taylor and Damon. He searched the Table for someone else...someone very pretty with blonde hair and blue eyes, Elliot Morganzo...maybe he'd go see her if no one struck up any conversations with him..

For some reason, Jake couldn't bring himself to let go of Selina just yet. He was quiet for a minute before finally pulling away and leaning back to get a good look at the redhead. "Yeah, I'm okay," he answered her finally, half-smiling. It was then that he realized he had no idea why he wanted to talk to Selina. He'd kinda just been... overcome with the... desire... to hug her. Was that weird? Possibly. But... oh well.

He bit his lip, looking down, then back up as someone caught his eye. Alexa. The girl was kinda growing on Jake, to be honest. A smile came back to his face and he looked back at Selina. "I wanted to say thanks," he told her with a nod. "You probably don't realize what you did for me this year. And..." He wasn't good with feelings. But he really wanted to let Selina know how much she meant to him. "And you should. But I don't think I can say it. So..." He hugged her again, letting go after just a second.

Jake hadn't even thought about anyone else as he'd made his run for the Quidditch Captain, so the chuckle surprised him. Looking up, his lips moved into a sheepish smile as he looked at the Prefect. Maybe it was just Jake being annoyingly sentimental, but he suddenly wanted to spill his thoughts about Gideon, too. Jake looked up to him a lot. And not just because he was a prefect... but he was an incredible chaser, too. And an all-around good guy. Jake wouldn't mind being like him in his seventh year.

"Will do," he promised with a smile. "Congratulations on graduating, too. And... good luck with whatever you plan on doing." He'd miss him. There was no use denying that.

Thankfully, Jake got distracted before he hugged Gideon or something. Kurumi, then Penelope showed up. He gave a little wave to both of them, not sure if he wanted to say anything. He didn't know Kurumi very well, but he looked up to her too. And Penelope... was his best friend. And they'd see each other this summer. So it wasn't like he needed to give her a dramatic goodbye.

Looking around, trying to refrain from embarrassing himself, his eyes caught sight of Nearly Headless Nick. Jake hadn't talked to the ghost much, but... why not? "Hey, Sir Nicholas," he said with a smile and a wave. "How're you?"

She thought their relationship to be a bit odd...one minute they were okay and the next they were arguing but now...she didn't know what to think. There was no doubt that she'd miss the girl but she wasn't sure how she felt about her leaving; it wasn't as clearly defined as how she felt about Vivi going off into the world. "Kurumi..." She tried getting the girl's attention though she seemed busy enough with everyone else. Maybe she should just speak and hope she heard.... "I'm really glad I had you for a prefect...even if it was only for a term..." She would very much understand if the girl didn't feel the same way about having her in her house though...

At the start of the term she hated older students, she should have kept it that way. Now that she liked them she found it hard to watch them go. It just didn't seem fair...
