Ameliah arrived at the courtyard with her guitar. This was one of the moments she missed- playing here, in solitude. She took a deep breath and played her song.

Avery smiled and strolled out to the court yard and sat down by the fountain letting her hand filter the running cool water. Then she heard sweet singing. She sat and listened till the guitar stopped strumming.
"Oh my gosh that was awesome!" Avery squealed turning around to face the person playing.

Ameliah was so zoned into her music she didn't notice a girl walk up. She heard a sudden squeal, and in a quick second she whirled around, pinned the girl to the wall, and had her wand pointed at the girl's throat. She quickly saw who it was and released her. "Sorry, you gave me a fright, it's my instinct. Hey, Angel- NO, you're her twin, aren't you? Nice to meet you. I'm your cousin Ameliah." she stuck out her hand, which was wand free now.

Avery was so startled by the girls outburst she couldn't speak at first.
"Oh yeah, I'm Avery, no worries! You have a great voice!" Avery complemented the girl and silently wished she could sing like that. All that came out of Avery's mouth sounded like a dying toad!

Ameliah smiled. "Thanks. And sorry again, are you hurt?" she asked sincerely.

"Oh no I'm fine!" Avery smiled gently touching Ameliah's shoulder.
"how did you learn to play like that? she asked curiously

Ameliah shrugged. "I taught myself when I was seven." she said. "Probably the only joy I had then." she added bitterly.

"Hard childhood?" Avery guessed. She could relate if that was the case. Her parents and she were always fighting

Ameliah nodded and looked to the ground. "When my parents - my real parents - died, my Aunt Lucretia was the only family left. So I was dumped on her, no matter how much I begged to be put for foster, no matter how much she hated me and I hated her. So..." her voice trailed off.

"That's awful!" Avery yelped and put a protective arm around her new found cousin.
"Why couldn't you stay with my family? We definitely had the space and money for another child.." Avery trailed off like Ameliah had done.
"Who do you stay with in the summer?" Avery asked

Ameliah's voice choked a little as she spoke. "I ran away at age eight. Nothing but my guitar and some clothes. I lived in the Leaky, but I think it was out of pity. A poor, defensless, scared little girl. All I had to do in return was work there for a bit. I came to Hogwarts and met Tay, who's Aunt, your Aunt Kathlynn, gladly adopted me when she adopted the girls. So... they're my family now." she looked up, "I'm sorry Avery, I shouldn't bother you with my depressing story...."

Well, Gwen wasn’t very thrilled about the idea of hanging out in the Common Room for much longer, nor of running to the library as soon as it opened and act like a total Ravenclaw, so she decided to head outside. With hasty steps, the fourth year made her way along the seventh floor corridor and ascended the stairs in a hurry, holding the notebook in her hand. Once she exited the castle, the Ravenclaw decided to go for a walk for a while. Hmm… I wonder if anything has changed from last year…, she thought while passing by the courtyard.

This looked pretty much the same to Gwendolyn. And it was rather empty too. Meh… good place to start drawing, the fourth year told herself and took a seat on one of the benches. After examining a part of the courtyard closely, she grabbed the quill and started drawing a few random lines. Scribble Scribble Scribble.

“That was really a good sleep.” Mordred stifled a yawn as he made his way outside the Castle. He pretty much doesn’t know where he’s going and just let his feet drag him where it wishes to tread. As he made his way out, he realized that nothing changed much the last time he was there. Except maybe that he was now able to go from one place to another in a short period of time. The grounds seem smaller now to him, versus the time when he was new..and much smaller. As soon as he passed by the courtyard, he eyed the Owlery and decided to check on Xchylar, his eagle owl. He then removed his gaze from the tower and quickly glanced at his surroundings.

The courtyard was empty, except for a few younger students. He then spotted a familiar face whom he met last night at the feast. He paused and checked if she was with anyone and finally approached her. “Have you seen Ari yet?” he asked as he stopped in front of her. The boy was towering over Gwen and he can see that she’s drawing. Something.

"That sounds awful!" Avery screeched holding tightly onto Ameliah.
"And don't feel bad I am always here to listen! No worries! That must have been a really hard childhood. But i wouldn't know what it was like because i grew up with a wealthy family and people who loved me. I never could even imagine experiencing something like that!" Avery cried out.
"You can talk to me anytime okay? I have a ton of bad stories too so you are not alone!" Avery gave her a small smile and clasped Ameliah's hand.

Even though she had already drawn a few lines, the whole thing didn’t look like anything so far. Hmm… measurements seem all right, the fourth year though as she eyed the part of the courtyard in front of her. Good. Moving on. While continuing her sketch, Gwendolyn heard footsteps approaching the place where she was sitting, but didn’t mind to check who it was. Meh. Perhaps it wasn’t even someone she knew.

Only it was. As she heard him asking about Ari, the Ravenclaw raised her eyes from the notebook. ‘No. Not yet’, she admitted. And she had been looking for her friend. And she seriously needed to find her. Since Mordred was the one to ask about Ai first, the fourth year was sure he hadn’t seen the Gryffindor either. No point in asking him that, then. So she decided to return to her drawing. ‘You are blocking my view’, Gwen said curtly.

Ameliah couldn't help but laugh. Avery seemed like a major physical type! "Thanks. I'm mostly the listener out of my friends, so I'll have to get used to talking about something to someone besides Logan...." her voice trailed off as she detirminedly fought tears. "He's gone now, his aunt moved him. Doesn't like him to be happy." She reached into her guitar bag and tossed Avery a Coca-Cola. "Wanna hear me play another song, considering this time if you squeal I won't flash out?" she laughed.

"Yes i would adore hearing another song!" Avery beamed and unwrapped herself from Ameliah. Then she caught the coke and popped it open.
"Thanks for the coke. It's my favorite drink!" Avery told her and took a long gulp.
"I hardly ever get to hear muggle music, do you know any other songs by them?" Avery asked peering at Ameliah and stretching out her arms after them being cramped.

Ameliah laughed. "No problem, it's mine too! I used to steal from Mins but she drinks diet now.... Ughh! So I decided to bring my own." she sat back on the bench with her guitar and played.

"I hate diet too! ick! She said and then listened to Ameliah play her muggle instrument
Avery had to hold herself together until Ameliah was done and then she burst out
"That was beautiful! Holy smokes!" She cried

Ameliah smiled. "Thanks!" she said, pulling out her own Coke. "I'm a huge fan of the band." she admitted. "My Mum always said there was a song for everything of theirs...and I haven't been able to prove her wrong yet. She'd sing to me every night...."

"Your mom seems so nice. I'm so sorry about what happened..." Avery trailed off...
"You should come and live with us for a couple weeks in the summer. I am sure my family wouldn't mind!" Avery yelped excited!

Ameliah brightened at the offer. "That would be soo FUN!!" she squealed. Her new family was HUGE!! She would definitly have to meet them all! AND HER COUSINS WERE SO FREAKIN' AWESOME!!!

"You'll love Dale and Heath! They are insane and Heath is a really good singer!" Avery squealed
"Now I can't wait for the summer!" She yelled and started to jump up and down crazily.
"So anywayyy. Whats your favorite subject?"

"DUET!!! COOL!!!" Ameliah squealed. "DEFINITLY..... Charms!! It's the subject I'm best at!! After that it's Transfiguration!!"
