Arithmancy Three/Final: Hidden Passion & Subconscious Self Numbers using Chaldean
The Arithmancy door was opened, which meant only one thing; there was a final Arithmancy lesson for the year about to take place. The only problem was , as you entered the classroom, you noticed the desks were spaced out individually as opposed to the usually groupings of them being paired off.
Another thing you notice was the fact that Professor Hadley was not present. In lieu of her presence, you'll notice her white kitten, Bristol, perched on the desk. And also there's some scrawling on the board:
Greetings class and welcome!
Class will begin shortly. But while you're waiting, please take out your textbooks and read over chapters 15 & 16.
Behave.
~ J.F.H.
ooc: yea, this lesson won't start until like tomorrow afternoon/evening. You know the drill by now. Pretend like you were here the whole time. kthanks <3.

Alyssa entered the classroom and was surprised that Professor Hadley wasn't in the classroom. She spotted Bristol perched on the desk and went to pat him. It was then that the room had been rearranged differently. It reminded her of an official examination room where the students sat apart so they couldn't copy off each other.
Alyssa then noticed the writing on the board and the instructions the Professor had written on it. Picking a desk, and she had a great choice since there was no one else in the room besides her, Alyssa sat down opened her bag and pulled out her textbook. Turning the pages until she reached chapter 15, she started reading while waiting for class to start.

Book bag slung over her right shoulder, Kurumi dragged her feet slightly to the Arithmancy classroom. This was another class the Gryffindor hated seeing coming to an end, not as much as Care of Magical Creatures, but it was still one of those subjects that Kurumi always enjoyed attending. She also hated the word final, not because of its connotations with exams because she rather enjoyed those, but because it signified the end of the term.
And she was going to be a seventh year.
...
...
That was a scary thought.
"Good day profe---" Oh, never mind. Finding her usual seat in the front, Kurumi set her things down and opened her textbook as the board instructed. "Hidden Passion Number," she read out loud to herself, her cheeks flushing at that 'P' word on the page.

This is quite possibly my last ever Arithmancy class.
The thought struck him so suddenly and forcefully that he literally came to a halt ten feet from the doorway. My last... ever... No more Hadley, no more mental math, no more ridiculously intricate attempts at interpretations. The class drove him to headaches sometimes, but he still loved it and was going to miss it like crazy.
Somehow he managed to gather himself and bravely step into the room without massing a puddle of tears in his wake. Noting the lack of Hadleys around, he strode over to the feline and commenced with scratching it behind its ears, hoping to soon hear the rumble of a motorboat purr.
He spotted Kurumi first. If anyone could be counted on to be perky, it would be her. Because the redheaded seventh year needing to be around some enthusiasm. Or a powerful Cheering Charm.
Keefer flopped heavily into the desk left of hers. Bending, he plucked his well-worn textbook from his bag and let it thud dully onto the desk. He let out an audible sigh and leafed through the pages until he found the heading for chapter fifteen. Noting the subject matter, his eyes began to move to and fro, his brain barely comprehending a word.
Nate walked into the Arithmancy classroom for the final Arithmancy lesson of the term. So he took out his textbook, and flipped to chapters fifteen and sixteen so he would be ready to read. This was also the first lesson of Arithmancy he would attend because he was never that good at it.
He looked around to see who was there already. He saw Alyssa, Kurumi, and Keefer. He decided that he would sit next to no one so far. So he went to an empty seat and sat down in it. He started to read over chapters fifteen and sixteen.
Nigel walked into the Arithmancy classroom, not sure if he was up to doing more math today. Nigel knew that math was not his thing. But he like Professor Hadley, so he would suffer through.
But he see that Professor Hadley is not here and it is her cat there with a note for the class to read. Wow maybe she is on a adventure with Professor Jenkins since they both left notes.
Hmm.. interesting.
Nigel took a empty seat, took out his textbook, and opened up to chapters 15 & 16. He guessed he would do what the note said and read over the chapters till class started.

Anya couldn't believe the term was almost over. It had flown by quick. Of course... that could just be because she didn't normally miss as many lessons as she had this year...
Ehh.
As she entered she looked around to greet the Professor. But... there was no Professor. There was, however, a cat. Anya debated greeting said cat, but decided against it.
She turned toward the seats, and noticed that they weren't in pairs. Wow. The Professor just turned everything upside down on her. She took a seat on the lefthand side of the classroom toward the back.
Now. What was she supposed to do next? She glanced at the board to see the written instructions. Review. Yeah. She could do that. She got her textbook out and began absentmindedly flipping the pages waiting for the lesson to start.

Carigan, dressed properly in her uniform (shoes and all), sauntered into the Arithmancy classroom. She wasn't exactly the best with arithmancy but... she figured it was the last class so she would at least TRY. Separated desks this time? WEIRD. She sat down an opened her textbook as the board said and burried her face into itl

Jory entered the Arithmancy classroom and was about to greet Professor Hadley but he didn't spot her anywhere. He only saw her kitten. "Hey there, Kitty,'' he said as he now noticed the message on the board.
After reading it, the badger took a seat and took out his text and set about reading chapters 15 and 16.

Vickers hitched his book bag onto his shoulder as he turned for the Arithmancy classroom. He eyed the desks and realized.... yep, Finals are definitely upon them.
As he selected a seat his eyes shifted to the board. Right.... out goes the textbook and the glasses, then started to flip through the pages for the right chapter.

Kurumi had been busy reading her textbook but had her attention was drawn to her left when she heard what was undeniably the sound of someone flopping into the seat followed by the thud of a book. Violet eyes leaving the pages for the time being, her cheeks still flushed because of the word passion despite it not meaning what she had initially thought of, she smiled when she saw Keefer. Only he didn't seem to be too cheerful.
"Hey Keefer," Kurumi smiled, leaning back in her seat just a bit. She was about to ask the Hufflepuff if he was feeling sick or something, because he didn't look so good, when someone else sat down in the to her right. "Hello Vickers," she chirped with a small wave to get his attention.

Daisy dragged herself into the classroom, rubbing her eyes. She wasn't exactly sure what she was doing in an Arithmancy lesson. For one, her brain seemed to have been switched off. And two, she could've sworn that anything she did know about the subject had left her brain months ago, along with everything else of any importance, except the exact scores from the Holyhead Harpies' last sixteen Quidditch matches. And they wouldn't exactly come in handy for a while.
She looked up at the board, taking out her textbook and sitting in a seat at the back of the class. Chapters 15 and 16 had better be interesting, she thought, looking around the room at some of the other students, who were already buried in their books. After reading the title about eight times and poking herself in the eye with a quill almost twice as much, Daisy decided it was going to be a long lesson...

Stella could even feel how the air in the castle had taken on an entirely different feeling. Not the same as when people had been randomly freezing and she'd been afraid of what was going on. It was just sort of an odd melancholy that term was almost over. Exams and then it was all over. She'd be getting on the train for the last time, then setting off on the adventure that was moving in with Matt and preparing to go to WADA next fall. Either way, she had classes still to get through, so she'd made her way to Arithmancy trying not to focus on the fact she still didn't like the interpretation part of the subject. It was her last lesson, so she'd make the best out of it.
Although, as she walked in, she noticed immediately that there was one person missing from the room. Either that or Professor Hadley turned into her cat, she thought, smiling at said feline as she let herself get a bit of amusement out of the general oddness of the moment, then flicking her gaze upward to read the note on the board. "Chapters 15 and 16," she repeated quietly to herself as she made her way toward an empty desk. She could definitely manage that. Quietly reading, and she took her textbook out as soon as she'd settled into her chair. Time to find out what they'd be discussing.

Elijah entered the Arithmancy classroom, his bright yellow abacus in hand. It was evident last lesson that he had no idea how to use it to make it even the least bit helpful to him, but for show purposes it worked a treat. He genuinely couldn't remember ANY of the last lesson and wondered if he had perhaps fallen asleep? Only because Vickers would have slipped him a sleeping potion on the fly, Hadley, not because they were bored with numbers, we assure you!
He was disappointed not to see the Professor at her desk so he could show off his abacus in the hope of earning some more quick brownie points. He saw Kurumi and Vickers sitting next to each other, so he took the seat behind them. He had decided to start talking to them again. Considering Kurumi had a boyfriend (which he was still not best pleased by) and that Vickumi never actually existed, only as a means of Elijah's own paranoia, he decided to set aside differences. He didn't want to lose any friends, and despite Kurumi having a boyfriend, Elijah could continue flirting anyway since he had no care for this other guy whoever he may be. All Elijah knew is that there was noooooo chance he could be more attractive than him.
"Hey guys," he greeted, setting his abacus down firmly on the desk, reading the instructions on the board. Ew. Chapters? Well, Elijah HAD just read the instructions, which meant that he was definitely entitled to a break from reading now, right? He opened his book at the appropriate chapters just in case Hadley walked in and wondered why he wasn't working. Hm, perhaps he would just play with his abacus.

Finals! They really were difficult, but then they could have been worse...
With a small pout on her face, Renesmee wondered into the Arithmancy classroom, out of her usual routine she eyed the desk ready to greet Hadley, only to notice that the Professor was not there. There was a white cat instead though.
At this, Nessie's pouting only continued. Hadley gone? Cat Instead....Hmmm. an Animagus. There we go! There was the answer. You just had to put two and two together. or at least the poor fourth year thought so. It didn't seem too realistic, Hadley had never said anything about being an animagus at all, but Nessie was in an odd mood and her brain decided to make up things on it's own.
"Good Morning Professor, Hadley." said Ness as she yawned and then reached out to stroke the white fur of the cat.
The Hufflepuff then turned away and looked for an empty spot, between all the single filed desks.
Sarah walked in, to the class, oh she hated these last lesson of year lessons, so sad, that means that she only has 6 years left! She was sat down at a desk and noiselessly took out her book. Following the instructions on the board, she began reading chapters 16 and 15.

Alyssa looked up from what she was reading when she noticed from the corner her eye, someone sitting next to her. It was Keefer, her Quidditch Captain. Only this wasn't the usual happy and cheerful Keefer but someone who looked like the world was ending.
Concerned, Alyssa leaned over and asked," Hey there Keefer is everything okay? You look like you need some cheering up. Don't be so sad. I'm sure Professor Hadley will appear soon." She assumed that was why he was sad, that their Head of House was not there to greet them.

Last Arithmancy class of the term, eh? Well Ella was feeling a little better about the subject after having had a chat with Keefer at the study tables. The Captain had reassured her that the horrifying things she'd read in her text the last time weren't really as scary as they seemed. Which was a HUGE relief. So when she entered the classroom, the second year was smiling. Yup. She was ready for the lesson. "Hello Pro-" Professor invisible? Where was Hadley?! Ella's eyes found her kitten instead and smiled, scratching it between the ears. "Hello there." Oh, and her head of house had left instructions for them as well. The blonde read them and then headed to find a seat, smiling at her classmates on her way.
Once she was seated, Ella removed her text book and flipped to chapter fifteen. Since she had been reviewing the other day, she simply skimmed through the text, using her finger to guide her along.
This cat's fur was just so soft and it took a while for Ness to stop patting it. Once she eventually stopped, she looked up at the board and noticed that there were instructions left for them. Hmm....okay. What they had to do wasn't to hard.
Moving along the class, Ness had finally found an empty seat. She sat down and then took her textbook out. Two chapters, meh easy peasy! Or so she thought. The red head turned to the right page and then began reading, making all sorts of funny confused faces as she read on.
What was all of this? Ness couldn't understand much, and gave up with reading. Instead she lay her head on the desk and eyed the white kitten that was still sitting on top of the desk.

Ah the term was winding down and several last classes and finals had already occured. Arithmacy seemed to be the most recent one and when the time was right, Gideon made his way down to the arithmacy classroom with his notes and textbook stashed in his sachel and ready to go. The prefect stepped inside the room and the first thing he noticed was the set-up...the second was the absence of Professor Hadley.
Odd...she was usually here awaiting them.
Making his way to an empty desk, Gideon sat himself down, his bag down beside him. It was then he noticed the third thing...the note on the board. Right, they were to read. Reaching down into his bag, he slipped out his textbook and after proping it open to the right pages, began to read.

When Penelope entered the classroom, the first thing she noticed was the cat sitting on the desk. Hmm? Had Professor Hadley turned into a cat? Was it going to be teaching them stuff today? Or were they allowed to bring their cats to class today? She could've brought Spot!
It was then that she noticed the writing on the board. If class was starting "shortly", Penelope probably wouldn't be able to run back up to the Gryffindor tower to get her cat and come back with her. It was a long way away after all. So she decided to just go and take a seat beside Anya, greeting her with a "Hey," then pulling her textbook out of her bag and flipping it open to chapter 15. She mostly skimmed it and chapter 16 though. She still didn't like reading these things much.

Okay... So... Ellie was actually...not looking forward to this lesson. And in a different way from the usual. She just...she knew what this lesson was and...it was just a sad thought. Hadley meant a lot to her.
It was really disappointing to find Hadley not present when she walked in. She couldn't even give her usual greeting. Everything screamed 'different' and...Ellie wasn't liking different. But maybe she should go along with it? Maybe she should even sit somewhere different?
But then again, it was her last chance to sit in her normal seat.
The seventh year dawdled by the door until she came to a compromise. "Watch your heads," she warned the class before flicking her wand around and switching her usual seat with one in the front. This way, she got to be nearest Hadley and sit in HER seat at the same time.
Now she slumped into her seat, frown in place, and stared at the board.
Another change? Ellie actually did as the board instructed.

He lifted his head up and saw the Lion Prefect had just greeted him. "Oh, 'ullo, Kurumi." It was a pretty pathetic greeting, but it was all he could muster at the moment. Thankfully, it didn't matter much as a second later she was greeted herself and turned to acknowledge it.

And just when he thought he was done with the required social expectations for awhile, he heard a very familiar voice address him. "Meh, yeah, I'm fine. Must've had something in the Great Hall that didn't sit right or something." Which was a lie, but he didn't exactly feel like divulging his emotions in front of a partially full classroom.
And Alyssa had a point: where was Hadley? He craned his neck around to the door as if she would suddenly enter on cue. No such luck for the seventh year. In lieu of her presence, he resumed perusing the indicated chapters, still not really taking much in.

Josephina just hoped the students would find their way to their seats alright and not be causing too much a ruckus. Or even worse, abuse her kitten. Not that she had any doubts in her mind that had the students been up to no good, then her kitten would have run off and found her. Or Baisley.
Just outside the classroom, she smoothed her skirt momentarily before she entered, closing the door behind her, and smiled at the attendance. And even moreso the two redheaded seventh years who were present. By golly, she was gonna miss them in her classes. It definitely wouldn't be the same.
Heaving a smile around at the present students, she strode over beside her cat, content that it seemed unscathed, and stroked it once, as it then hopped off the desk and brushed between the desks and legs of students... Eventually finding a student's desk to nestle under comfortably. A student with short legs, as they'd not get in the way so much.
"Right then. Let's begin. Close your books." Because she'd assume that they read it and word-for-word answers were not important, so much as generic understanding. "What does your Hidden Passion Number reveal about you?"

Okay, so she wasn't reading the book so much as skimming it. And staring at it. And trying to cheer herself up with the fact that the last Arithmancy lesson only meant that school was almost over and she'd finally be finished with this torture and never have to come back.
Though hearing Hadley's heels enter the room drowned all hope of positive thoughts. This was the last time she'd hear Hadley drawl on about numbers and math. Probably.
"What you're good at," Ellie mumbled the answer to Hadley's question. Yeah, she knew. In the abridged version her mind made up to try and make memorizing things easier.
And, yeah, if this was her last chance to participate in an Arithmancy lesson, you can bet your bottom Knut she was participating.
