This was Caelyn's second encounter with the Slytherin common room. She had popped in there for about two seconds earlier, realized how cold and dreary it was, then made a quick exit to the dorms. But she was back and prepared now. Wearing her onesie which were actually in Gryffindor colours, shh, she waddled down onto the sofa with one of her Diagon Alley purchases.

Standard Book of Spells: Grade Three.

She needed to get stuck in. Cross-legged on the couch, Caelyn wiggled her toes as a sort of comfort thing as she tried to ignore the billions of other snakes around her. It wasn't an unsociable thing, she was just afraid...

Yep, his name is Daniel. He graduated last year! Do you have any brothers or sisters? Tahnee asked, leaning forward to avoid sinking completely into the couch.

Suddenly, a new girl joined them. She seemed to know Eliza, but she didn't introduce herself. So, in an effort to make new friends, Tahnee smiled and extended her hand once more. Hi! I'm Tahnee! she said cheerfully.

"No, I'm an only child" she answered. She wondered for a minute what it'd be like having a sibling. It didn't take her long to decide she didn't like the idea, she didn't always like sharing and besides she liked being the apple of her parents eye, even if they didn't always give her that much attention... Either way they gave her money and sent her sweets and that was enough. "Are you a pure blood?" Eliza asked cautiously. She knew it was a touchy subject. She didn't have anything again muggle borns and she tried to make it sound like a general question. She stroked and played with her hair, as she did when she was nervous, but made sure to keep a composed look on her face.

It seemed like stepping back into the Slytherin Common Room had made Matt felt like he was truly back home, it was unfortunate that he was a seventh year and honestly wasn't difficult to tell that he was anyway; compared to a lot of the other students he was a giant and it was rather amusing. His blue eyes slowly began scanning across the room, taking mental notes that the house had an influx of first years but that wasn't a bad thing; not considering the fact that it meant the odds for another threepeat were truly in their favor and honestly he was going to take every opportunity to earn points even if it meant working on assignments that he didn't exactly enjoy. Before he continued his random tangent in his head, he took a seat in the armchair by the fireplace since the dancing flames seemed to always attract his attention and it was pretty cool.

It was pretty rude of Hannah not to introduce herself, but she wasn't one to go out of her way to meet people. She had to be in a certain mood for that. The girl seemed nice enough though and she was a snake so Hannah accepted the handshake. "Names Hannah. Nice to meet you Tahnee. What year are you in?" She couldn't be that much older than Hannah.

Ah, I used to wish I was, but now that Daniel's gone I realize it's kind of nice to have someone to complain about your parents to, she said with a laugh. She couldn't imagine what it would be like to not have a sibling. Eugh- she didn't like the thought of it. Too much mommy-and-me time. Not that she didn't love her parents- she did! It was just... they got pretty annoying sometimes. But then again, doesn't everyone's?

Nahh, someone married a Muggle way far back. But I come from a long line of Wizards. What about you? Hmm, interesting choice of topic. Tahnee couldn't help wondering if this girl was one of those "I only associate myself with purebloods" type people. She didn't really seem it, but then again, they had only known each other for a few minutes.

Tahnee smiled as the girl accepted her handshake. Hi, Hannah. Nice to meet you too. I'm a first year. How about you? She hoped the girl was a first year too!

Sammy walked up from the dorms. This common room was actually super awesome! Being underwater and all. He wandered through all of the people that were there and noticed there seemed to be a lot of younger students like him. He hoped at least a few of them were nice...and not rude like that guy who had been mean to him and Logan at the feast. Sam kind of wished Logan was here. Then he would know at least one cool person in this house. He went over to the fireplace and sat in one of the super comfy armchairs. He looked next to him and saw an older boy. Sammy hoped his luck was getting better and that this guy wasn't going to be rude to him. Sam just smiled at the boy before looking into the fireplace. Maybe Slytherin wasn't so bad...

She could see the upsides of siblings, but she was pretty independent. Since they lived in London, quite near the Leaky Cauldron she spent pretty much the whole of her childhood wandering Diagon Alley and spending her parents money. Coming from a huge lineage of pureblood witches and wizards they had more money than sense. But Eliza liked money, in fact she had her own Gringotts vault, vault 605, and it contained more money than she'd ever need and she was only 11! "Did you bring any pets with you?" she asked, changing the subject.It wasn't that she only associated herself with purebloods, she just wasn't a.... muggle-lover. Her parents were pretty pro pureblood and thats how they brought her up... she couldn't help carrying some of their traits.

Selena blinked in disbelief. OOOOOH. HE MADE A FIRSTIE CRY. He ought to be punished. Nah, Sel wouldn't do that, it was an accident right? Accidents happened all the time in Hogwarts - at least it wasn't intentional. Now that Sel would probably have to report. "Okay, shouldn't be mean to the firsties though, are you a firstie? You're awfully tall to be one," Selena said from her very comfy spot on the couch. Where had Clarke gone!?! WHERE WAS HER CRUPPY?! Eh, she'd find find him later. At least Kent was still there.
Selena nodded. "Selena Zabini-Riddle, PREFECT, Sixth year," Selena said beaming. AWwwh, look at all the ickle TALL second years. Merlin's beard, they were all tall. They needed to learn how to SHRINK and be tiny. Like her. "Were you in Hogwarts last year?" Because Sel never saw her around. So... maybe trans- naaaah.

"Coolios! I'm Selena, Sixth year," Selena said beaming. Because it seemed like this seconder was NICE. Selena liked nice people. Nice people were... well... nice. "And thank you! If you have any problems feel free to come to me, but if not and you wanna bother someone... don't let me know," Selena said nodding her head. It seemed like GOOD advice, no?

"Yeah the food was good. I love our common room. The lake is a prefect touch." she didn't know what the other common rooms were like, but she couldn't imagine them being any better than Slytherins. Nothing was better than Slytherin but she wasn't going to go off about that just now. "I have no idea, but I doubt they are as awesome as ours." She didn't have to see the other common rooms to know this was a true statement. Although she was a little curious. She would have to ask Jezz about Gryffindor and maybe the snobbish girl Elliot about Ravenclaw. She still needed to rub it into her face that she was sorted into Slytherin and little Elliot wasn't. She knew that really burned her.


"What do you think about our class schedules?" Hannah was actaully looking forward to starting class. She couldn't wait to get her hands on DADA, Potions, and Transfiguration.

After a mere moment of staring at the dancing flames, Matt noticed out of his peripheral vision that a kid who looked to be a first year had decided to join him; well obviously he had no problem with that because no matter how old someone in the house was.. they were still a Slytherin and Slytherins always stuck together no matter what happened. "Hey dude, what's up?" he said before turning his head to properly look at the boy, hmm... maybe getting to know the first years would be beneficial to him now since he could tell his brother that there were some cool kids at the school who he could befriend. Then again, he wasn't exactly worried about Addison next term since there was still other things on his mind at the moment; like the fact that he had to deal with NEWTs which were apparently much more difficult than the OWLs he had written a couple terms ago. Man, stop thinking about the exams.. it's September and those aren't until June. You've got time to deal with other things first before worrying about those. And once more the social commentary seemed to make itself known when it wasn't exactly welcome.

Yep, I did! A cat, named Bear, Tahnee said with a fond smile. Speaking of Bear, where was he?! Probably somewhere up in the dorms, where she left him. The one good thing about having your own common room, Tahnee thought to herself, was being able to let your pet roam around (potty trained only!) and not be cooped up in a cage all day! The common room was large- but not large enough that she couldn't find Bear if she tried. Besides, he usually came to her. Unless she hadn't given him enough of his favorite kitty treats that day. They had a love-hate relationship of sorts.

Did you bring any pets?

"It's my first year as well. Are you ready for our classes to start?" Hannah sure was meeting a lot of first years which was good she wasn't sure if she wanted to hang around too many of the older kids just yet.

"Our Common Room is hands-down the best, afterall it's is home to the best house" she emphasised. She could imagine herself here over the next seven years; watching all manner of creatures swin past the windows, reading by the fire, studying, talking waith Hannah and Tahnee and Conrad and everyone else she'd met on the comfy sofas. She was happy, it would be nice.

"I'm looking forward to it all" she replied, but then she added. "Except flying, I'm terrible at flying, and Care of Magical Creatures and Herbology, I'm horrendous when it comes to the great outdoors" she admitted. She didn't like to admit this, Eliza liked to be the best, that was part of the reason why she was a Slytherin.

Sammy turned to the older boy. He didn't seem like he was going to be mean or anything. Besides, he said hi first so Wally would get mad if he ever found out he was rude about it. "Nothing. Just getting used to this place. You?" He was going to be nice until this boy started being rude. Then Sam would just talk back to him the way he had with the boy at the feast.

SO ready! It may seem strange but I can't wait until we have classes! Is that weird? It's probably because I'm a firstie, she said with a laugh. Most people would be dreading the start of a grueling year of exams, homework, and teachers, but Tahnee was looking forward to it. The excitement would probably fade, though, with the coming of her first essay.

"I like cats" Eliza mused. "Much nicer than dogs, don't you think?" she'd always been a cat person and it wasn't gonna change. "I don't have one of my own though, because I'm not quite that fond of them." she admitted. "But we live in London so it would be hard to keep one anyway." Eliza added.

"We do have an owl though, my family's Eagle Owl, Hera. They promised to send her up at least twice a month with money and sweets." Her parents payed more attention to her when she wasn't there, she thought.

"Hi" Eliza greeted a boy that appeared to have just arrived. He seemed to have been taking it in, and the Common Room was pretty awesome. Especially it being underground and all, with a lake just out of the window."I'm Eliza, first year" she explained.

Yeah, I agree. Dogs are too loud and messy. Cats were so cuddly and warm! Much better than dogs. Well, Tahnee had never had a dog, so you could say she was a bit biased, but oh well. Hey cool! So do I! South Kensington! she said with a grin, thinking of her pink bedroom back home, with the walls plastered full of travel posters and photographs of her family and friends.

Lucky! Tahnee exclaimed. Her parents hadn't let her get an owl- that was the pet she had originally wanted. They didn't think she had enough 'responsibility' to deal with an owl, pshhft. If she wanted to send letters, she had to use the school owls. She hadn't been to the Owlery yet, but she'd heard it was up really high in one of the towers and she wasn't exactly looking forward to a massive climb.

"Besides my parents always said dogs weren't very smart, loyal yes" like a Hufflepuff. She added in her head. "I live in Mayfair" she replied not that far away she thought. Her thoughts then turned to the five story plus basement house she lived in. Her bedroom was on the fourth floor and was pretty big, it sounded silly but it was already decorate din green and silver, Slytherin colours. And of course her favourite part; the four poster bed. "Well the owl isn't technically mine..." Eliza trailed off. Then again it kind of was, her Dad has his own owl at work and her mother hardly needed to send letters, and when she did they usually went far away, to her extended family in Denmark and preffered to use postal owls anyway.

It seemed that his brain wanted to continue the random tangent while the kid was talking to him, but Matt wasn't going to let that happen since he wasn't rude; nah.. that was his cousin's category at times but she didn't even need to be brought up either. "Ah not much, just soaking what I can of Hogwarts since I don't have much time left. Have to graduate at the end of the term which totally isn't cool but it has to happen." He basically just gave away the fact that he was a seventh year however one way or another, it would end up said. "I'm Matthew Stevenson but my friends just call me Matt and obviously I'm a 7th year." Extending his hand out to the boy, he was looking to make friends and even if they were first years; that didn't matter at all.. all in all he just wanted to get to know other Slytherins since he had spent the past couple terms hanging out with the other houses.

Sammy looked over at the spot where the voice came from. "Hello." He looked at the girl. She had to be about his age and all. He still wasn't too keen on talking to girls though...even though that's all he seemed to run into here. He looked at the girl as she introduced herself with her year. Weird. "I'm Sam...first year."

Sammy looked at the older boy. He seemed to be lost in thought and wondered if he was even going to continue the conversation. It was no big deal if he didn't, but it would be nice to have someone older to talk to and hang out with. That way he could learn about the school and such. Sam grinned when the boy continued talking. "Really? What's that feel like?" He couldn't imagine that, simply because he was only a first year and all. "Nice to meet you Matt. I'm Samuel Lawrence, but mostly everyone calls me Sammy or Sam. And if you couldn't figure it out: I'm a first year."

Jen walked into the Slytherin Common Room. She looked around. It looked dark and dingy. But, hey? What would you expect? It WAS in the dungeons. Least the temperature was warm. Jen sat on a chair near the fire and looked through her school nooks. She had potions as her first class. Least she wouldn't be late. She had her favorite class was DADA.

Sam, nice. Eliza wasn't always a social person, it was just she wanted to be on good terms with her housemates, after all she'd be having seven years with them. He looked a little skeptical at talking to her. Oh well. "How're you liking Hogwarts, and Slytherin of course" she asked. In her opinion Slytherin was the best.

As he was asked a question about what it felt like to be graduating, Matt frowned for a second; trying to think about exactly what to say to the kid about it since it was definitely bittersweet but the question was how to convey that into words that could be understood without a problem. "Well, it's definitely interesting since I mean sitting at the top of the class technically speaking.. but there's much more stress since as a 7th year, we have two sets of exams that we have to study for plus try to prepare for our futures outside the school." Oh the exams, no matter how many times he tried to avoid the subject; they somehow seemed to come up and honestly it was getting to be a little annoying. "Nice to meet you as well Sammy, so where are you from?" Obviously he wanted to know that since it seemed like he had an accent that sounded like it came from around the area, unlike where he had come from.
