Professor Seren Bentley
Gryffindor Head of House // Herbology Professor
Norandola Name: Aara

SPOILER!!: Aara

Aara

Our Traits

Colours:

Dark Red - vigor, willpower, leadership, courage, longing, and anger.
Light Red - joy, passion, sensitivity, and love.
Olive Green - peace.
Orange - enthusiasm, warmth, vibrant, demanding of attention, proceed with caution.

Physical Features:
Sclerophyll Leaves - hard leaves, an adaption to harsh climates (drought, frost) requires little watering. Leaves also contain a mild toxic compound which act as a deterrent to predators (defensive mechanism).
Thorns - sharp hard pointy structures designed to act as a deterrent to predators (defensive mechanism).
Saucer-shaped Petals - shaped with gentle curves, partially upright, allow for flow toward the base of the petals.

Rationale:
Aara's physical features reflect my personal traits in numerous ways. Firstly, her striking colours communicate that I am a passionate, enthusiastic, usually peaceful, and that I exhibit roles in leadership. By the same token, they also communicate that I am not one to be trifled with. I am short tempered and will do anything for my loved ones, or those that are in my care. I do not trust easily and proceed with caution by setting up barriers to keep people out. These are communicated through the presence of sharp thorns, a defensive mechanism. The botanical structure of Aara, reflects my independence and ability to be self-sufficient, being rather low maintenance.

Karrae

Our Traits

Colours:

Blue – Caring, team builder, Sincere, Creative, Co-operative,
Yellow – Cheerful, impulsive, perfectionist
Grey - Practical, reliable, cool
Gold – Loving, friendliness, warmth, honest, genuine, outgoing.

Physical Features:
Pretty Flowers – Supposed to draw people in, make the Narandola seem attractive, pretty, nice to look at.
Stem – the stem is thick and sturdy, helping to hold the plant up in a stable, and good way, allowing the rest of the plant to thrive and grow.

Rationale:
The colours of Louis reflect my personality a lot I feel. The colours are bright which I feel reflects my happy go lucky personality. The colours don’t exactly go together too well, making a sort of miss match sort of plant, but I feel this reflects me too, showing my personality well. The colours are mainly on the flowers, which are pretty. I feel this is a good representation of my personality, showing how I am friendly with everyone, wanting to have lots of friends. I feel this combines well with the colours of the flowers, which are gold, yellow, and blue also show my personality well. The stem of the plant is grey in colour, representing practicality, and reliability, showing how the stem will be able to successfully hold up the rest of the plant, which is a kind of metaphor of how I like to be practical and reliable in my life.

Hufflepuff // Third Year
Norandola Name: Melody

FireboltAvis88

SPOILER!!: Melody

Melody

Our Traits

Colours:

Orange - enthusiasm, fascination, happiness, determination, success, encouragement, strength and endurance
Olive Green - the traditional color of peace.
Red - energy, strength, power, determination and love.
Pink - signifies romance, love, and friendship.
Yellow - with joy, happiness, intellect, and energy.
Blue - symbolizes trust, loyalty, wisdom, confidence, intelligence

Physical Features:
Mimoseae Leaves - Evergreen and survives throughout the year. The leaves of the plant close quickly when touched. (defense mechanism)
Stalks - have very fine splinters like hairs that is barely noticeable but will prick one's fingers if they are not careful. (defensive mechanism)
Funnel shaped petals - that widens gradually from the base, ending in an open or flared shape.

Rationale:
Melody's appearance reflects my personality, some of which not many people are aware of. The colors of my flowers reflect that I am usually a very easy going energetic person, enthusiastic and determined in whatever task I perform. The most important things to me are the love and friendship of those around me. I will do anything for those I love and their happiness is the most important thing to me. Like the traits of a Hufflepuff, I am loyal to the core and I always strive to establish peace where there is animosity and disagreement. Friendship is important to me, and I don't like making enemies. I am an intelligent person, but sometimes too wise for someone my age.

The botanical structure of Melody reflects that there are things about me that I don't want everyone to know. The shape of my plant's petals show that I am slow to trust but once the trust is earned, I will offer my friendship and loyalty without question. Then there's the presence of the structure of leaves that close when touched or the small splinter like hairs found on the stalks of my plant. Those signify the protective barriers I have placed in my life to protect my secret. I will share as much as I can with those I trust, but if someone gets too close to the truth, my barriers will go up and I will 'shut down' and fight to protect what I hold sacred and private.

The fact that Melody is an evergreen plant, reflects my ability to adapt to various adversities in life and that I will always bounce back no matter what obstacles are placed in my way.

SPOILER!!: Sheldon

Sheldon

Our Traits

Colours:

Red - Passionate, love, courage, confident, energetic, enthusiastic, anger
Blue - Peaceful, loyal, trustworthy
Dark Green - Conservative
Yellow - Optimistic

Physical Features:
Black Willow Leaves - simple leaves, they are usually broad, mainly green and have a shorter stem than other leaves.
Petals - broad, then leaves with pointed tips.
Root - Thick fibrous roots like those of a coconut tree to hold plant on place in event of extreme winds.

Rationale:
Sheldon’s features indeed resembles my traits. I do love to my fullest and am always confident and enthusiastic in everything I do. Though it can take a while to get me angry, when I do I would listen nor talk to anyone. I hate arguments or violence and anyone can trust me with their darkest secrets.
The leaves represent the things I appreciate in life, the simple things like nature. I’m broad minded and try not to judge anyone. The pointed petals represent the directions. I’m always looking for stuff to broaden my knowledge. The roots represent my belief. My parents taught me right from wrong and when anything come under attack I’m there to defend it.

Sierra Greingoth
Slytherin // Fourth Year
Norandola Name: Essence

Anna Banana

SPOILER!!: Essence

Essence

Our Traits

Colours:

Red - fire, blood, energy, war, danger, strength, power, determination, passion, desire, and love.
Black - power, elegance, formality, death, evil, and mystery.
Green - growth, harmony, freshness, safety, and money.

Physical Features:
Petals - Sharp and pointed; plentiful. The petals are great warriors against predators such as insects, small animals, and possibly even larger animals and/or humans. There are numerous petals to show the extra strength and defense mechanisms of the plant.
Roots - The roots are deeply planted into the soil to help get the plant in a firm and upright position.
Leaves - The leaves are thick and sturdy so as to support the plant and help keep the best defense features (the petals) on the top of the plant.

Rationale:
First of all, I named the plant Essence, because it truly depicts the essence of all that makes up who I am. First of all, the meanings of the colors mostly represent characteristics I find in myself. I have a fire burning inside of me to make me be as fierce and determined as possible. I am strong and determined to be the best that I can be in everything I set my sights on. I seek out power and have a mystery about me in that I don't easily show my true feelings and often keep things bottled inside of me. I also seek to grow and be better at everything I excel at, and really--who doesn't love money? Secondly, the sharp and pointed petals remind me of how I am sharp with my words and to the point. I say exactly what I mean and tell people exactly how I feel. I'm very firm in how I feel and don't back down easily. Finally, like the leaves, I feel like I have a strong background that supports who I am today and what I have become.

Ravenclaw // Fifth Year
Norandola Name: Ambrose

AmbiguouslyMe

SPOILER!!: Ambrose

Ambrose

Our Traits

Colours:

Dark green - Stability, endurance, quietude, fertility, hope and growth. [potential negative associations include greed and envy]
Pink - Harmony, compassion, friendship, relaxation, gentle emotions.

Physical Features:
Leaves - Four large, dark green, waxy leaves. Oblong in shape with smooth margins, they will "fold up" and surround the bud, protecting it from both the elements and from creatures (like other students' kneazles).
Flower Bud - One, single pink bud, which has not made any indication of blooming since it first appeared. It is nestled at the intersection of the four leaves on a short stalk. Unclear whether the petals contain any other colors once bloomed, but the visible parts are all pink.

Rationale:
The leaves are clearly an indication of a desire or a need or an impulse to protect myself, whether physically or emotionally - A self-isolating defense mechanism that goes up whenever anything gets too close. Given that the leaves are thick and waxy, I think it reflects how guarded I am. The green of the leaves bears this out, if you focus on the meanings of quietude, stability and endurance. In the plant, the leaves provide quietude, stability and endurance for the bud. My tendency to avoid interaction with others does the same.

The bud, at first thought, seemed to me to be a reflection of being underdeveloped - particularly socially - puny and ineffectual. It seems to be a bud unable to bloom. However, a conversation with another student suggested that the color of the bud and a shift in perspective could have it being reflective of potential. That as a gentle person - who needs the protection of the "leaves" to some degree to avoid being hurt - the potential for friendship is there and just has to be given a chance to bloom. That given enough time, the bud will eventually be a flower.

SPOILER!!: Duas

Duas

Our Traits

Colours:

Red
Blue
Purple
Green

Physical Features:
Thorns - Left side.
Blossoms - Right side.

Rationale:
Some would say the dual-sided appearance of the plant taken care of by me expresses a dual nature within myself. The red thorns on the left show of the agressiveness I can take on when pushed to a limit as well as the defensive tendancies I have in hiding my true self from all but those closest to me. In contrast, the blue blooms on the right show my loyalty and calm, quiet side. Joining them both at the base in a symbolic joining of the colors as well as my personality the purple is the mysteriousness of my and my family's past.

Kurumi Hollingberry
Gryffindor // Fifth Year
Norandola Name: Sakura

sweetpinkpixie

SPOILER!!: Sakura

Sakura

Our Traits

Colours:

Emerald Green - emotional & spiritual balance, serenity, creativity, healing, and hope.
Lime Green - motivated and youthful
Silver - security, reliability, intelligence, and modesty
Brown - stability, home, reliability, comfort, endurance, simplicity, and comfort.
Golden Yellow - power, strength, and perfection
Pink - compassion, kindness, yin, loyalty, faithfulness, enthusiasm, personal magnetism

Physical Features:
Aristate Leaves - spine-like tip with waxy surface to reduce water loss. Also produce aromatic oils to leaf borne glands deter herbivores and protect the delicate blossoms.
Sword-shaped Leaves - also have a waxy surface and free movement. Usually seen wrapped around the plant to act as a shield.
Tendrils - threadlike shape that is used by climbing plants for support and attachment. The ends, instead of curling like tendrils usually do, fan out into spear-shaped leaves than can be used for defense or a larger area for sunlight and shade for the plant to minimize heating and reduce water loss.
Saucer-Shaped Petals - flower is almost flat with slightly upturned petal tips. Petals are very delicate and once they have bloomed only last about a week and are eatable.

Rationale:
Sakura reflects who I am as a person much more than I expected that she would. First thing to take note of is her coloration. Her colors are neither bold nor bland, but a little bit of each which is a representation of my desire to just fit in and not stand out. That I seek to find an equilibrium in the chaos that is life and do so efficiently. Not only this but the colors also show that I look to the simple joys in life and don't need anything flamboyant or extravagant to bring me happiness. This relates directly to the nature of the flowers. Their breathtaking but brief beauty of the blossoms symbolizes the transient nature of life, something that I have come to know all too well over the course of this year. The fact that Sakura has many parts of her that are used as a defense mechanism to shield as opposed to attack is also very indicative of myself. In life, I consider myself to be more of a defender than an attacker and prefer to shield myself from harsh realities and painful things than face them head on. The structure Sakura and her resilience to the heat is a reflection of my ability to stay cool in high stress situations.

Our Traits

Colours:

Physical Features:

Rationale:
My Norandola looks like a beanstalk, at least that’s how it appeared to look like when it began sprouting from the ground. It appeared quite fragile when I saw it peeking out from beneath the soil, and I had to surround it with small wooden sticks so it would have something to cling to. That helped a great deal during the first few days as the base grew and thickened to support itself. My entire Norandola is generally green in color, with a few shades darker at the base of the stem, its leaves also darkening the older they get. The top of the Norandola is starting to sprout more leaves, which to me would eventually form a thick canopy, offering shade from below or perhaps a strong support from above. At about a month old it is nearly as tall as me, my educated guess would be that once it reaches full adulthood it would be at least twice my size, and unless there is a pot big and stable enough to support it, it would be best that this be transplanted on solid ground.

I could say that the Norandola’s growth had reflected on my early years. My mother died when I was very young and my uncle and my grandmother became my family. They were my support and my guide, much like the small sticks that surrounded my small plant at it struggled to grow upright. It was surprising to me that it would appear like a beanstalk and couldn’t find any connection with myself other than it was going to be tall and lanky and that i like the color green. It doesn’t have much branches from what I noticed, or perhaps any approximation of branches actually twists around itself and is part of the main stem/ trunk. I have been told that I could be pretty single minded with an objective, perhaps this is a representation of such. Ultimately I’m hoping the large leaves that would form the canopy can be useful someday, maybe to offer support or refuge to those who needs it.

Hufflepuff // Seventh Year
Norandola Name: Penelope

SPOILER!!: Penelope

Penelope

Our Traits

Colours:

Green - Safety, stability, endurance, growth, harmony.
Yellow - Joy, intellect, happiness, energy.
Red - Energy, love, passion, strength, desire, determination, power.
Purple - Luxury, ambition, power, creativity, mystery, independence, dignity, wisdom, magic.

Physical Features:
Thorns - Hard, pointy, and sharp. They act as a deterrent as a predators. They are a defense mechanism.
Saucer-like petals - Smooth and curved. They move upwards gracefully.
Ovate leaves - Egg-shaped and broader at the bottom than at the top.

Rationale:
Penelope's physical features mirror mine in quite a lot of ways. Her colours bring out traits that I possess. The yellow of her leaves show how I am a happy and energetic person and the smooth, simple, and graceful shape of her petals state the same thing about me. For I find that I like pretty things and looking good, but I don't like overly ornate and gaudy. Her leaves are also simple and not hard or too soft. They are just perfect and the colour of them is an exact green which brings out more of my personality traits. I am a person who endures and grows. I have gone through things in my life that have made me want to give up, but I have always managed to make it; I have always picked myself up and went on with life. And as a result I have grown as a person in a few ways. I am a stronger person with every bad thing I have experienced. The green also shows the harmony that I like to feel and bring to others. I like harmony and bringing it to other people unless I am mad at them or upset... when that happens I can be quite nasty. That is where the red thorns fit my personality. The thorns represent the thorns that I can show when someone threatens me or someone that I care about. When someone messes with me I can become quite nasty. The red brings out the passion that I feel in regard to this aspect, as well as other aspects. There are certain things that I feel passionate about and I am a person of emotions. Emotions like love, especially when it comes to my fiance who I am rather protective of. Anyone who messes with him will feel my wrath. I am also a determined person when I put my mind to something as I do with my school work and my career ambitions to be a Healer after Graduation. I have the determination and strength of will to get where I want to be and do what I want to do with my life. I am more powerful that I may look. That also ties in with the purple stems that Penelope has. It stands for the ambition that I show, as well as my independence of wanted to do some things like working by myself. True my fiance has helped me to be a more independent person, but it is still a part of my nature and he helped bring it out and strengthen it. I am also a dignified person, and I value my sense of dignity. I may have some self-esteem issues, but in general I respect myself and I want respect from other people to go with it. I try not to let what other people think of me bring me down. I am also not a stupid person. I learn things from experience and from my mistakes, and even though I am still young I have been through some hard times in my life. I think those times have given me more wisdom.
