Headmaster Gaellen Tate was going to have to do the Sorting Hat himself this term, considering his poor Deputy was still a little traumatized by the events from last term. With a grump, Tate set out the stool and plopped the ancient hat on the seat.
Now. Line up, little firsties, and let the hat do its thing. Quote:

Black, Katie! The professor called.
Katie slowly walked walked up and sat on the stool. The teacher placed the hat on her head.
"Hmmm, yes not to bright are you?" Katie saw the excitment from the Ravenclaw table go down. "Not very brave but very kind and willing to lend a hand, yes, yes" the Sorting Hat mumbled. "Yes I know! HUFFLEPUFF!"
Immedietly everyone at the Hufflepuff table let out a whoop!
"Wow," Katie thought, "they sure do get excited..."

Sage walked into the Great Hall for her first time and it was amazing! She looked up to see a replica of the night sky, and she could feel the warth of the floating candles on her cheeks! Now it was time to be sorted!
"Walker, Sage!"
Sage nervously walked up to the stool. The Sorting Hat was plopped over her head and slipped over her eyes...
Hmmm! Yes I see bravery in you, but you are unsure at times. I can also see you are very intellegent, but you have a thirst to prove yourself. Now, where to put you where to put you.....
Definetly not Hufflepuff, and I don't think Slytherin will do. What do I think?
What do I think! Well I'd rather be in Gryffindor! I want to prove to my brother that I am brave enough!
Yes, well then, it better be.....
"Gryffindor!"
Sage was surprised to here the hat yell out the last words, Sage was over joyed! She was sorted into Gryffindor!
Sage jumped off the stool and hurried over to her new table and home...

"Hmm," the hat buzzed in his ear, "You've had a tough life, young Ashdown, a tough life indeed, but where to place you? You certainly have enough pride... quite ambitious in the goal of reviving your family line, I see. Ah, but you really have too much intelligence in this noggin' of yours for me to put you anywhere but...RAVENCLAW!" the hat announced to the hall.
Feeling rather proud of himself, Cael strode off toward his table.

Oooh hooo hoo so THIS was how they got Sorted. Tori was SO EXCITED to put the hat on her head --- granted that it didn't mess up her hairdo --- and find out where she really belonged.
'Anywhere but Hufflepuff, anywhere but Hufflepuff,' the ginger thought as she danced up to the stool and jammed the hat on. It slipped over her eyes and she continued her mantra until she heard a little voice in her ear.
'Not Hufflepuff eh? You have far too many... creative vices for the Badgers anyway.' Wow, it seemed that the hat could talk. LIKE WHOA OMG WHOA. 'Not too much going on upstairs, either,' the hat continued. 'But you do know what's out and what's in, so clearly you belong in...
"SLYTHERIN!"
The last word was shouted nice and loud for everyone to hear. Beaming, Tori carefully extracted the hat from her head and swept down low into a bow, smiling around and waving to her adoring fans peers. Still beaming, she trotted off to her happy table.

The Slytherin table cheered happily as she made her way to the table feeling proud.

Gaby winced as they used her full name to call her up, but approached the Sorting Hat anyway, glad that she had taken up her robes earlier - there was nothing for her to trip over now. She could just imagine the embarrassment if she fell flat on her face in front of the whole school. What a brilliant way that would be to start the year, eh?
She perched on the stool as the hat was placed on her had and listened as it pondered over her house. 'I see.. cunning,' it murmured into her ear. 'And knowledge. Oh, yes, lots of knowledge, and plenty of ambition,' it continued, and she wondered where she would be placed. Slytherin, hopefully. Or... 'RAVENCLAW!' the hat suddenly bellowed, pulling her from her thoughts.
Well. That wasn't so bad. Gaby slipped of the stool and placed the hat down for the next student, and skipped off to the Table of the 'Claws.

Chelsea took a deep breath as she entered the great hall for the first time. She gasped when she saw it. The floating candles and the night sky. It was just like she pictured it. She knew she would have a great first year. "Charm, Chelsea"
She walked up and sat down on the stool. The sorting hat was placed on her head. Here we go She thought to herself. Hmmm...I see you are ambitious and seek power. But you are also intelligent and brave. I also see you are very cunning...tough decision...now where to put you...Hufflepuff or Gryffindor just wont do...Slytherin or Ravenclaw...Ahh I know just what to do with you....SLYTHERIN! 
Chelsea jumped off the stool with a smile on her face. She was relieved to be in Slytherin because she knew she belonged there. She started walking over to her table and took a seat.

Melania was in the middle of the group of First Years as they walked down the Great Hall. She thought it was beautiful and she looked around in awe. They got to the front of the room. There was a stool and the headmaster was holding The Sorting Hat. Her older brother told her about the hat before.. it had a mind of its own.
"Warrington, Melania!"
She walked towards the stool and sat down. The headmaster placed the Sorting Hat on her head. It was so big, it went down past her eyes.
"Very interesting! Ambitious, but shy."
"Please please please Slytherin," she thought wanting to please her parents since they were both in that house.
"Hmm self preserved are you? Will do anything to meet your goals? Oh, and a pure blood!"
A moment of silence.
"I know just where to put you!" It paused for another moment.
"SLYTHERIN!"
The Slytherin people whistled and howled. She flashed a huge grin and hopped off the stool. She was practically glowing and took an open seat at the Slytherin table.

A tall girl with short silver-blonde hair and big glasses came forward. Then a hat were placed on her head.
"Wow, a smart and clever girl, but preety ambitious too." said Sorting Hat. then, the Sorting Hat said
"Slytherin!"
The Slytherin students applaused and welcomed her to Slytherin table.

Sadie couldn't believe it - she was actually in the Great Hall at Hogwarts! Everything was so... well, she hated to use a cliché, but everything was so enchanting here! Even her home didn't have as many magical things in it, like floating candles and a bewitched ceiling! In awe at the superb magic that must have been used to make the ceiling reflect the sky, Sadie patiently waited for the Sorting Ceremony to commence.
"McQuillen, Sadie!"
Immediately, Sadie's head turned down from the ceiling to the stool on which she was to sit. It seemed extremely daunting now, though only moments ago she couldn't wait to finally belong to a house.
Sitting down on the stool, Sadie held her breath and waited for a reaction from the hat as it was placed upon her head.
"Hmm... you've got some smarts, that's for sure... but your heart... yes, your heart is overwhelming..."
Sadie had no idea which house she would rather be sorted into. She knew she wasn't brave, and she didn't really feel as though she were clever or cunning... was she hard working? Admittedly, she could be very lazy if she wanted to.
"Well then... you must belong to... HUFFLEPUFF!"
Joyously, Sadie hopped off the stool, beaming, and joined the Hufflepuff table. There, she noticed some kind, familiar faces from the train, and suddenly, all of her now-silly fears were gone!

India almost knew what house she would be in the minute she heard the hats song. It was crazy a singing hat - sure she'd heard of it...but she never believed it wasn't like she had singing hats, books, pencils, quills and what-not when she was in Australia. Puhlease. Some people were just a little too weird - or some inanimate objects that is.
She walked up to the stool as her name was called, and sat down. Fidgeting with her skirt. Almost the instant the little talking hat hit her head it bellowed "RAVENCLAW". Well that was easy...if not smelly. Gag.
Standing up and pinning the Ravenclaw badge on her sweater she walked over to a different table. The Slytherin table. Making friends was her game.

Harlow fixed her clothes and her skirt and then donned her black Hogwarts robes. She was so nervous as the line of first years was paraded into the Great Hall. Her brown eyes were wide as she tried to take in everything. Her neck craned as she wondered what kept the candles up in the air.
She was toward the back of the line as her last name was Riddle. And she waited patiently, growing more an more nervous.
"Harlow Riddle," her name rang out across the hall, and she had to smile a little as she liked the effect.
Daintily she walked up the stairs, keeping her eyes on the stool. If she looked anywhere else she would most assuredly fall.
It took her a minute to climb up on the stool. And her skirt wasn't helping matters. She just really hoped no one got a flash of her knickers again. They had seen the world enough on the train.
Finally seated the sorting hat was lowered onto her head. It sank down to her shoulders and she was plunged into darkness. Harlow nearly toppled off the stool with the hat actually spoke to her.
"Are you sure?"
Harlow nodded.
"SLYTHERIN!"
Harlow beamed as she had to practically climb out of the hat to find her way over to her new housemates. And new color scheme.

So this was how they were sorted. She had to admit that it was a fair surprise when the old, wrinkled hat started to sing. Amazing what the magic world contained!
As she was listening to the song, she became excited. She was finally going to find out where she belonged!
Kourtney waited patiently as the other first year students were sorted, one by one, some looking afraid; others confident; still others surprised.
C'mon...c'mon...She was practically bouncing in place as she awaited her turn.
Finally...it came. She grinned towards Indy and Brady before scampering off towards the stool. Once the hat had been placed, she drew in a deep breath, listening as the hat suddenly spoke.
"An open mind....ripe for learning...though very adventurous..." The hat mused.
Kourtney couldn't help but think that the hat would likely put her in Ravenclaw; after all, it kept talking about learning and open minds. What other house...
"Though I think you're best suited for.."
GRYFFINDOR!! the hat exclaimed.
Apparently that house. With a grin, Kourt swept the hat off her head, placed it onto the stool, and ran down the towards the Gryffindor table where the other Lions awaited. Her new home!

"Richards, Danielle" she heard someone calling. Yes! It was finally her turn.
She walked towards the chair with excitement and joy, she couldn't stop smiling.
"hmm...what do we got here? Let me see, you're quite a happy girl aren't you? You like to go on adventours and can be brave if you want to" I could see how the houses grew in excitement "You cherish your friends, but you're not quite sociable. I can see that you enjoy playing pranks on others and that you are very intelligent for your age...hmmm..were could you be?". Danielle clenched at her robe, the tension in the room was killing her "I know! You'll be placed in....RAVENCLAW!"
Ravenclaw's cheerings was all Danielle could hear now, she smiled, she liked the idea of being a ravenclaw. With a confident but proud expression she standed and walked towards her new home table, her big smile never left her face. [/COLOR]

Eris walked up to the small wooden stool in a sort of awe like trance. Everyone had been talking about this moment with a vigor of excitement or a sweet reminiscent tone of the past. A few hat stalls had gone before her, and the young witch wondered just how long it would take her to get sorted, and if she would be put in Ravenclaw as she had begun to believe.
Sitting down on it as tense as ever, she inhaled deeply as the hat was placed not even an inch from her head when it roared out to the room
"SLYTHERIN!"
Her eyes widened with happiness, a relieved feeling in having a place now instead of guessing and harboring questionable feelings.

Violet walked toward the short squat stool and sat on it as the headmaster Gaellen Tate plopped the old wizard hat on her head. Everybody in the Great Hall stared at her as the hat considered what house she would be in.
"An intelliigent brain that is eager to learn.." muttered the hat in her mind. "Well, of course, you are a bit of a shy one, but very intelligent indeed. Well it must be... RAVENCLAW!"
The whole Ravenclaw table erupted in applause, cheers, and woots as Violet placed the hat back on the stool and timidly hurried to the Ravenclaw table she smiled brightly to her new house mates.
"This will be an such a great year to begin!" exclaimed Violet

"Clara Merriman."
Her name rang out in the Great Hall and she honestly thought that she'd never want to hear her name amplified like that again. Clara gulped nervously as she approached the Sorting Hat, feeling everyone's eyes on her...and it burned like hot fire.
"Um, do I just...never mind." Clara mumbled awkwardly to herself as everyone watched her take a seat. Smiling politely as the hat was put on her head (what other choice did she have?), she sighed, hoping that the hat would make a decision soon enough.
Not Gryffindor... "Not Gryffindor, eh? That's an odd request!" The hat chuckled wryly, making her jump with anxiety. "I see some loyalty, but a giant thirst for ambition. Oh, and what a brilliant mind!" The hat yelled as Clara grew more and more nervous.
"Well, then...RAVENCLAW!" The hat shouted proudly. Feeling extremely relieved, Clara nodded to herself as she joined her fellow housemates at the Ravenclaw table. | |
