Gryffindor for the House Cup!

So how can you help Gryffindor win the house cup? House points are earned by attending class and completing homework assignments. If you've just noticed a class announcement or received a homework assignment, post in here and let everyone know! Remember to make sure your announcement hasn't already been posted.

Below you will find an updated list of all classes your character can attend and homework assignments he or she can complete. Remember to not post your character entering class after the lesson has already started. If you would like to attend a class that is already in session, just post as if your character has been in class all along.[INDENT]

Herbology Lesson One

Who: All Hogwarts Students

What: Lesson One

When: Friday 9th September, class will open at approximately 2-3am GMT

Where: The Greenhouses

Items to Bring: Common sense, textbook, dragon hide gloves, comfortable shoes- strictly no high heels, and a smile.

OOC: The lesson won't start for about 12 hours, so everyone will have time to RP arriving to class, reacting to their surroundings and meeting Professor Bentley. The class will last approximately 3-4 days. Please read through the Herbology Rules and Expectations prior to attending the lesson- I'll know if you haven't.

The first Charms lesson will open at approximately 1am GMT on the 7th of September. (That is midday Wednesday for me, and about 8pm EST on Tuesday the 6th or around 42 hours from the time of this post)

The class should last 2-3 days, depending on how many people come and how long it takes to get through!

Don't worry if you are late, just check the links in the first post of the class thread to see where the lesson is up to and pretend like your character was there the whole time.

Class had OPENED but not begun yet.

PLEEEEEEEEASE make sure that you have read all posts before you post your character - even if it is just those posted by the professor (look for the Purple username). Do not announce your character arriving if class has already started or else risk losing Gryffindor some house points!

Herbology Homework One

Task:
Answer the following Questions:

1) List three ways in which you may obtain toadstools; and identify a positive and negative aspect of each option. (3 points)

2) Write a short essay on a toadstool of your choice (which has not been covered in class). When writing your essay please consider the following points: what is the primary magical property of the toadstool? Are there any cautions to consider? What is the availability of the toadstool? (Is it easy to grow/ is it endangered), and what is it about that toadstool you find particularly interesting? (7 points)

Note: You essay should consist of a minimum of two paragraphs to be eligible for full marks.

Potions Lesson 1

The first Potions class will open the evening (EST) of Thursday September 15th and remain open until I say so. Please file into the dungeon classroom quietly, DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING and find a place to sit promptly before class begins. I will NOT tolerate tardiness, rudeness or talking once my class has started. Please familiarize yourself with my rules before attending. I don't want any whining about 'I didn't knoooow' or 'please don't take points off' or 'but my nose was not this shape when we started'. So sit down, shut up and pay attention.

Astronomy Lesson One

Where: The Observatory
Items to bring: Common sense, text book, telescope, maybe a snack since the lesson will be held at night, a smile and willingness to learn.
