School brooms will be provided for all students to use*

*First Years are not permitted their own broomsticks per Hogwarts regulations.
Any First Year caught using a personal broomstick will suffer the wrath of Professor Vindictus as well as lose precious house points.

The gates to the stadium suddenly opened so that students attending the second Flying lesson could enter. At the center of the pitch stood Professor Vindictus with the rack of school brooms to his right. But to his left was something rather bumpy hidden under a purple tarp. What was it? Was it moving?

"Welcome!" greeted Vindictus and he motioned to the grass. "Please have a seat and we'll get started soon."

Toni entered into the Stadium and looked around... she really didn't feel like doing physical activities today, but how could she refuse to take such an easy credit course.

Wait... what was with the secretive tarp... Toni didn't like Secrets. secrets meant trouble, and trouble meant Toni would get hurt. Lumpy secretive Tarps were bad... and it looked like it moving? Secretive, Lumpy, Moving tarps were not good. And Toni wanted it uncovered so she knew whether or not to run.

Running was physical too though. Boo, decisions.

Toni decided to just take a seat on the grass before the professor and the Broom rack. She gave the man a nod in greeting, and hugged her knees as she waited for the lesson to begin.

Flying class! Definitely one of THE best classes at Hogwarts. So why wasn't there an OWL for it? Vashti still wasn't over that fact. Those OWLs would've been so much better if she'd had a Flying OWL to look forward to. NEWTs too. Perhaps they'd change it next year? She could only hope.

But anyway. Time to focus on the present, which included Flying class and did not include either OWLs or NEWTs.

"Hello, Professor Vindictus!" Vashti greeted him with a smile before looking briefly over at the mysterious purple tarp. What could it be hiding? She never liked when things were hidden and she didn't know what it was. Waiting to find out was no fun. As she took a seat on the grass, she tried not to stare at the tarp too much. It wasn't like she'd gain X-ray vision any time soon.

As Macy entered the freakishly cold quidditch pitch, she couldn't help but get excited. FLYYYIIIIIINNNNG. Yes! Oh how she loved to fly, even if it was like negative a-bajillion degrees.

"Hey, Professor Vinductus!" she greeted with a grin.

OHMIGOSH TARP.

What mysteries could be lieing under it? Pygmy puffs? Howcoolwouldthatbe?! However, she doubted it. Water balloons perhaps? To chuck at each other while flying? She didn't think any of the professors hated them enough to make them cold and wet ~~except maybe Lafay~~. Hrm.

WOO-HOO!!! Flying lesson! Aiden enters the stadium with a wide grin that could tear off her face. Obviously, it looks a bit creepy to see her grinning like this. But this is flying lesson they're talking about! Of course she is very excited!

"Good mooorning, professor," she greets cheerfully. "Is that... A bludger?"

Tori wasn't lost. She was just slow. Slowly ambling down to class, slowly taking a seat, slowly hiding a yawn behind her hand.

"Hiya Professor," she greeted the Quidditch professor. If she recalled correctly, he still owed her candy.

Alyssa walked onto the pitch. This place was beginning to feel like her 3rd home. With Flying lessons and Quidditch, she was getting really fond of this place. She walked up to the Professor, and greeted him, "Good morning, Professor. It is great to be back here for another flying lesson,". Alyssa then went to sit down but not before noticing something rather bumpy hidden under a purple tarp lying next to the Professor.

She wondered what it could be. "It's definitely not a giant spider,"Alyssa thought to herself recalling the spider that the Professor had used in his last class. "Hey! Maybe it's a quaffle. Maybe we're going to play Quidditch. Oh I do hope we do," Alyssa thought to herself.

Victoria walked down to the quidditch pitch, feeling happy for flying lesson they're going to have. She hasn't flew in weeks! Especially because of the terrible weather they had had in the past few days. Victoria can't even expressed how much she's looking forward to this.

"Good morning professor...coach...professor..." whatever it's surppose to be. Victoria looked curiously to the thing the professor was holding in his left hand. And it's moving...no... "Err...professor...we're not going to throw a creature at each other, are we?"

Kennedy made his way to the Quidditch pitch. He drew in a deep breath and continued walking. He was looking forward to flying lessons, although last time there was a horrible giant spider in the air. It wasn't like Professor Vindictus was going to bring more monsters to the lesson...

Was he?

Naaah... then his eyes caught sight of the purple tarp. Why was it bumpy? What was it hiding. Please, not another monster.

"Good day..." his eyes looked back at the purple tarp, "...Professor Vindictus," he greeted, looking back at the man.

Eino made his way to the quidditch pitch, not really looking forward to seeing his Head of House. Not only had they let him down during the Quidditch match, but also in Gobstones. He must have been very disappointed with them. With his head down, Eino approached the other students and remained quiet, waiting for class to begin.

The Flying Professor nodded at the others as they arrived. "It's time to get started, so let me ask everyone a question and see what your brains come up with for an answer," he said and he knew of several students who would show off their smarts.

Minerva was scared to death already and when the professor said broom games her face went pale. Games? She could barely stay on the broom alone let alone playing a game. "Well professor since Wizards like to fly it only makes sense to have games that involve flying."

Broom games? They played some of those last term. They were dangerous, very dangerous, but that's what made them so much fun. Eino didn't think there was a right or wrong answer to this question, until he saw Professor Vindictus' smirk and doubted himself. Still, he raised his hand confidently and spoke. "Well, they are games, so I ought to believe that they were created for amusement and entertainment."

Selina shot her hand up in the air at Vindictus' first question. Why was the broomstick first invented for gaming purposes? She assumed that she knew the answer, then again with Vindictus' vast knowledge on brooms and the like she might be wrong, "Sir, could the first use of broomsticks in a gaming environment be simply an accident? People did use broomsticks for transportation at first, so perhaps two people were traveling by broom and they started to fool around and gaming sort of evolved?"

Flying Class! Elizabeth thought to herself Finally something other the potions that i love doing and that i'm good at.
Elizabeth walked on to the pitch and was so excited. She had her own broom back home that she flew all the time so this was going to be a piece of cake for her.

Gideon was quite ready for the next flying lesson as he sat from his spot on the ground waiting for Professor Vindictus to start. Though not quite for the lesson's sake but because he needed to get out his frustration with things between himself and Selina and getting up in the air and always did prove to be helpful...at least from what his parents claimed.

He couldn't help but curiously eye what was next to the professor wondering what it could be and what the class itself would be on but his attention was drawn back to Vindictus when he spoke once more starting the class. "Well they could have done so to have something for amusement and competition between each other, especially with something that they already had around...the flying broom."

Macy's hand shot up in a way that suggested she had a relatively stupid answer that she hadn't thought through. "Entertainment purposes, like, they were probobly bored," she blurted out. HEH. Probobly true actually. "And they were probobly tired of things that involved chopping people's heads off and death." Cuz weren't broom games invented waaaay back in the midevil ages with kings and queens and knights ~~on shining horses~~ in shining armor and all that princess crap?

Or maybe they wanted something else to place bets on. Also entirely logical.

Isabelle threw her hand up. "Sir, I think the main reason is because wizards loved riding broomsticks so much, they thought that it could be a great entertainment for some people. I think they believed broom games would be very popular and they are now," Isabelle said explaining her reasoning. She wasn't exactly sure if it was right or not but it sounded fine to her.

Toni Looked up as the question was asked, well at least they didn't have to do anything physical yet. "People always played games, even before wizards used brooms for transportation. So, you would assume that natural curiosity would eventually kick in when brooms were charmed, and someone would asked themselves what a certain game would be like if they tried it in mid-air." yup. Toni always wondered what It would be like to play Quidditch on a Flying Horse, or a Dragon... OOH! that would be fun. Fire-y Quidditch.

Kennedy thought about that one. He raised his hand slowly and said, "Broom games could have been created because wizards enjoyed the thrill of competition and challenges and since brooms could satisfied those needs broom games were made." Okay, Kennedy didn't know if that was true, but it's what his brain came up with.

Yeahhhhhhh Tori raised her hand and pretty much gave the same answer as everybody else.

"Boredom," she sing-sang. "Wizards are the same as everybody else. They like to be entertained and play games and compete and stuff. They were probably like, 'OMG! How can we make this game even more funner? Let's play it up in the AIR!' So then they like, picked up their trusty broomsticks and decided to see how much trouble they could make off the ground."

Erin raised her hand on the Professor’s first question.

Broom Games? That sounds nice. Quidditch is the first thing that comes to mind. Super fun! “Just like in Muggle community, wizards probably wandered on making brooms more useful for their entertainment. It might also involve the natural competition between humans,” answered Erin.

Alyssa raised her hand,"Professor could it be that the wizarding kind created brooms because almost everyone had one, and since wizarding brooms could be easily disguised as a muggle broom, no one would suspect anything if a whole bunch of wizards were carrying brooms to a game? Or maybe it could be that the wizarding kind just wanted to create a game that Muggles couldn't play."

Vashti considered the question for a few moments before raising her hand. "Maybe so they could have a game that was unique to them? I mean, things like chess and gobstones have different versions - a magical version and a Muggle one. Chess is played pretty much the same as Wizard's Chess, except for the lack of moving pieces, and gobstones is pretty similar to marbles, except with the addition of the liquid that squirts at people. Flying on a broom though is something that Muggles can't really duplicate, so it gives wizards something to truly call their own creation." Plus, brooms were awesome, so why not create games to play while riding them?
