Jared's not big on formalities, but he likes a certain sense of decorum if possible. The door of the office is highly polished and, once you enter, the place carries the faint but lingering scent of expensive perfume. There's nothing special about the interiors - a big desk full of all sorts of drawers one can't see sits at the far end, facing a pair of high-backed chairs.
The only interesting things are - and perhaps not even those are interesting to the average person that enters - a medium-sized bookshelf full of old tomes, and a display that contains some of the things Professor Descoteaux has picked up on his travels, ancient and new, and gilded and worn-out. The office is enveloped in an invisible net of defensive spells. There's a sneakoscope on the desk, and it spins all the time, though it has been charmed not to whistle.
Please knock before you enter.

It was just after the feast and Ellie had made Little Professor's office her first stop. She had something legitimately important that she needed his help with. Besides, it was on her way up to the dorms, anyway.
Knowing that he'd still be at the feast, the young Ravenclaw slid down the wall, taking a seat on the floor to wait for him. Her bag with the camera inside fell nicely into place next to her, and the photograph was still safe in her hands. NOTHING was going to happen to this picture. NOTHING.

The excitement (mingled with a hint of nervousness) followed her as she approached her professor's office door. The tiny first-year tentatively knocked on the door and then waited to see if the professor was in.

Violet eagerly scurried down the hall towards Professor Descoteaux's office with a big smile on her face. She hadn't seen him since last year and she couldn't wait for lessons to start once again this year. But before all of that Violet was very eager to ask him a few questions about Charms class this term! Once she reached the door the second year lifted her hand and lightly knocked on the door three times. Then Violet waited very patiently for the Professor to allow her entry to come into his office, because she knew that was out of respect and one of his rules!

Pausing outside the door she took a deep breath, and knocked twice. Should I have knocked three times? she wondered. Which was more professional? Two is fine. she finally decided as she waited for the reply to her knock.

Melina's eyes went wide when she saw where Niss kept her wand. She would have never thought of that! Perhaps she'd have to try it... "Um, way cool wand holder!" she replied with a huge grin. "It's a beautiful wand," she said to her new friend, admiring the light brown of the pine wood. "I don't know about the whole 'soft' and 'swishy' and 'sturdy' stuff. Does yours feel soft? Here, let's compare."
She held out her wand for Niss to feel and waited to feel the girl's as well. She wondered whether they'd be able to tell a difference.

"Well, mine isn't that soft. I mean, it still feels like wood to me..."
Janice touched Mel's wand. There's not much of a difference, but she could feel it.
"Oh, you wand's a bit , I don't know, it's just different..."
Now, she knows the difference between 'soft' and 'sturdy'.
