Stepping into the dark place, the Gryffindor boy did not even bother to look around for he had been here before. He knew the room well. So, he had not stopped until walking to a corner and sitting down on the floor there. Madam Donovan was not going to be annoyed that he was sitting in a corner in such a deep silence, was she? Eh....to be honest after experiencing many rather unexpected incidents since the very first day he had started attending this school, he guessed he should not be so sure about that. Donovan could get him in shackles and make him eat mice for sitting in a corner without asking her to do so.

But meeh...He didn't really care about shackles, eating mice, any kind of physical pain or whatever the highest point of hideousness this detention could go for he had lost his she-snake in probably one of the worst ways possible.

Kimber came into the room cool as a cucumber. As angry as she had been while Josh was yelling at her, the opposite was showing through in her emotions now. They'd sit here in this dungeon as long as it took. She would catch up on some very important correspondence and Josh... well whatever kept him from the Quidditch match was task enough.

Walking over towards him, she looked down at him with disgust. Hmph! He belonged in a dark corner at the moment. She deposited a large, ancient-looking book at his feet. "Here," she said, still keeping her words to a minimum. "Don't read it. Copy it. Every word."

Josh did not look up this time when the familiar sound of Madam Donovan's footsteps was echoed in the place and just kept staring at that random dark point in the dungeon which was...nothing at all. At least nothing to worth staring at but...whatever, there was nothing to stare at around anyway...except the book that had just been thrown at his feet. Huh? A book? Was it even considered a book? It looked pretty much ancient.

His gaze moving on the ancient looking thing, the Gryffindor boy listened to the woman's quick and simple words to him still in his deep silence. What could he say anyway? He knew she hated him so she was possibly going to ignore whatever he had to say. Not to forget that he actually did not want to talk to her but not because he was angry or something. It was because...either he didn't have anything to say or didn't feel like voicing a word because of the mood he was in.

Slightly nodding, he moved a bit in the corner and picked the book up without letting his acts to reflect his reluctance. Ancient or new, he really did NOT like books. And the idea of copying it word to word simply sounded...horrible. She could have made him fight a dragon, but copying a book...just bleh. Plus the part about 'not to read it' was weird. Why that? Was it a book of those stupid and pointless Dark Magic stuff? The book looked perfect for it anyway.

Then Josh suddenly and finally looked up at his Head of House when he had realised something. Something that was different from the other detentions he had had so far. ''Madam...'' so he said and unholstered his wand presenting it to her right after staring at Evelyn's engraved name on it for an instant ''...you forgot my wand.''

At the sound of Josh's voice, Kimber look up from the letter she was writing and gave her shoulders a shrug. "Do you plan on using it, Carter?" she asked, as apathetic sounding as ever. "If not... *sigh* ... keep it," she added, waving her hand dismissively.

Well...

With that attittude had not she just made it clear that she did not care about him even the slightest? He knew taking the students' wand was a frequently used procedure used in detentions. But apparently Madam Donovan did not even care about the fact that he had his wand which meant she did not mind whatever he did in here, which meant, in her eyes, he did not worth wasting time for even paying proper attention to the procedures of detention.

An annoyed expression dominating his face, Josh stared at the woman's disinterested face. Seriously, what had he done to make her hate himself so much? Everyone had some wrongdoings in some part of their life, hadn't they? Everyone could make mistakes; couldn't they? Yet, obviously, Madam Donovan did not agree with those.

Sighing some, the boy looked down, back at his wand in his hands. Why couldn't people just tell him what they found bad with him instead of directly judging? Why couldn't they even take a small step of effort to know who he really was? They couldn't or they didn't and it felt...bad. Especially when among those people there were his girlfriend and his Head of House, it did hurt pretty much.

Slowly standing up, he walked to the woman's desk in silence and carefully placed his wand on the desk before her. ''If i am not supposed to use it. I am not going to.'' then he murmured loud enough for her to hear before turning around and walking back to his dark corner where the huge, ancient book was waiting for him.

Yet, there was a problem.

''Madam; i don't have parchment, quill and ink.''

Seeing Josh's wand at the edge of her desk, Kimber lifted her eyes to his. She almost muttered a 'Thank you' but stopped herself just in time. "Very well."

At the mention of writing supplies, Kimber sighed and drew her own wand from its holster on her thigh. After producing what was requested, she turned her attention back to the dark corner and cleared her throat. "Is there anything else you require?" she asked. She couldn't understand why he was wasting his own time, but then again, when had she EVER understood Josh's motives?

'Very well'....?

Did that mean she had just actually, maybe a little bit but, appreciated what he had done? For an instant those two words felt like that however remembering past and previous things between them and her demeanor, that was hard to believe so instead he simply had decided that he was mistaken and maybe just comprehended it as he had wanted it to be.

Since he was quite unsure about how to comprehend her words, the Gryffindor boy could only remain silent in the corner just examining the large book till she spoke up again, asking if he required anything else.

Did he need anything else? Well...maybe a little water would do good but...

''No.'' he said, sounding certain ''Thank you.'' Now it was the time to get to work.

Opening the first page to the huge, ancient book, he placed it in front of him before laying a rather large piece of parchment next to it. Then he picked up the black quill and dipped it in the ink well. Ready to write and copy, huh? Yep. So sitting beside the parchment and the book in a not-so-comfortable position on the floor, Josh began writing exactly the same words the first page of the book had, on the huge parchment.

Even with the first six words copied on the parchment this felt like it was going to take his whole life.

After several hours of sitting in the dark, nasty dungeon, (she had no idea how Hecate managed down here in such a dreary place) Kimber sat her quill down and looked over at Josh. "I'm bored," she said. There was no longer even a trace of anger in her voice. And even though she knew he was nowhere near finishing his assignment, she added, "Do you want to get out of here?"

Josh had no idea for how long he had been copying the words on parchments yet judging from the slight pain warning his wrist, he could tell that he had written....like A LOT. However, this book seemed to have so many pages that it looked like if he'd ever try to copy it all, he was probably only going to leave this dungeon when he was thirty. And that meant wasting the best days of his youth copying a book in a dark dungeon. Definitely not the way he had been imagining to live it. On the other hand that was a detention, so he had to obey whatever Madam Donovan said. No complaints or else.

Changing to the next ancient smelling page, the Gryffindor boy dipped the quill in the black ink again before turning back to the parchment. Then sighing he began to wrote the next sentence and just when he copied the last word of it, Madam Donovan took all his attention by speaking up after so long time. There wasn't a problem, was there? Well...he just hoped she was not going to tell him to start over again. Maybe there was a lot to write down yet he wanted to keep his progress. Not to mention it was harder to copy a book with a deepy broken heart.

Nevertheless, seconda after he had found out that she was not going to make him restart. She jus asked if...he wanted to ger out of this place? Was that real? He was not imagining things, right? Maybe the smell of the ink was messing with his brain.

*Blink blink*

Or it was real. ''Yes, Madam'' so he said looking at her with tired dark brown eyes. ''Please. It is...'' was he supposed to mention the rest? Would she care about it anyway? ''...i am sorry.''

Kimber was already gathering up her things when she heard Josh apologize. She stopped mid-paper-stacking to look at him. Then she smiled. "Let's go, Josh," she said, clearing the table she had been using.

She walked over and vanished the parchments Josh had completed (she didn't really want them in the first place) along with the ink well and quill. Then taking the big book in her hands, she helped him to his feet.

But... he wasn't to be rid of her yet.

"And since you aren't allowed to play in the upcoming quidditch match, I'll expect you to sit with me in the stands. Cheering on OUR team will do us both some good." And she wasn't likely to take 'no' for an answer.

Still going on with writing the words, much more slowly though this time, Josh though it would also be appropriate if he explained the reason behind his not-so-good acts that had taken place in the library. ''And really, it is not that i have anything against you.'' *sigh* ''A friend told me that my girlfriend was...'' eh that was the hard part to voice but he had to anyway ''...intimate with another guy there. So, i just...couldn't control myself, couldn't hold my temper when i saw them. Riley made me angrier too by offending me with his not-so-kind words before running away. So, i was...plain angry and upset. I am aware that it was no place for private incidents like that but i really didn't know what i was doing. I never thought Evelyn would do that.'' It was even still hard to believe. Very hard. Yet her attempt of defending Riley against him fought all his doubts.

But he stopped his explanation when the woman smiled at him. Ah! Did that mean he was forgiven? He hoped so. That'd be a happy progress. Smiling back at the woman, he nodded when she suggested them to leave. The smile still remaining on his face, he watched his Head of House clean the stuff around including his hard work. Or meeeeeeeeeh whatever. His handwriting was not an elegant and nice looking one after all. No one would like to read a book copied with that kind of handwriting. Heheheh.

Standing up with her help, he ran a quick hand through his untidy dark brown hair before looking at her ''Well...it, you know, won't happen again.'' which meant he was going to pay some effort for not being a problem for her again. And....ooooooh! He was going to be able to watch the match! That was going to be great! Yeeeeeeeeeeey!

''Yes, Madam'' he said his smile widening some ''I think i can do a good job with cheering for my friends, as well. It will be an interesting game!''
