Jake had furiously dictated a letter to his quill and parchment and, true to form, was now sending it without even considering calming down first. He called down his owl, Fly, and sent him on his way with a letter.

Yep. Totally not an overreaction.

Eirian searched for her "brother's" owl to send off the letter grasped within her cold hands, a grumble stuck in her throat as she found no damn bird of the sort. She hated owls. With no affirmation of the bloody bird's existence, nevermind presence, Eiri glanced instead down at the envelope addressed to the Wizengamot. Even though she had written it much earlier in the day, the Brasileira filha knew exactly what was within the stark envelope.

Finally, she found the stupid bird, as it had taken perch beside an older teen and his owl. She looked over at the boy for a moment - he was a Hufflepuff - before attaching her letter to Jayce's bird. "There," she murmured. "Take this to the Ministry... Take it and get them out of my life." God, she hated that meddlesome government regime. In Brazil, she would have been left to fend for herself... Like Thiago was.

... Or perhaps this system was better... Annoying didn't always mean bad, right? That was what she told herself when Jay was around.

The owlery wasn't too difficult to find, and Evangeline walked up to the top, letter in hand. It was annoying slightly that she didn't have her own owl to send letters with. It would certainly be easier. It wasn't that she couldn't get one, or that she didn't have the money to buy one, because she did. But Eva was never much one for pets, or animals for too long a period of time. So Evangeline never had her own animals, not even owls that were useful, she just preferred not having them.

So now she needed to find one to borrow.

Lexi tried to run up those steps... and FAILED. Miserably she failed. Yeah. It was terrible. Gasping for air and clutching her side she made it to the top and leaned against the door frame. She was not able to find Wasabi so a stinking old school owl would have to do. Sighs.

Finally gaining her bearings she straightened up and made a WHEW sound as she let her eyes wander the area. Ohhaii. There was that Slytherin girl. Ummm... EVA. "Hey Eva, how are you?" Lex called out as she made her way to the owl perches with Reese's letter still clutched in her hand.

She was looking around for an owl to use, when she heard footsteps coming up the stairs of the owlery, and a whole lot of heavy breathing. Looking around at the source, Evangeline saw that girl from the other night that she met at the Ravenclaw table. Lexi.

"Hey Lexi," she smiled. "I'm good, I've been exploring." She said. "And y'know, next time it might be a little easier if you just walk up the stairs." Eva pointed out, with a small smirk.

"Was in a hurry though. I needed that anyway. Next time I will make it all the way up. True story," she said still a bit winded. "Exploring? That is always fun. Get you out of those dank dungeons and all that," she said with a smile.

Whistling for an owl she held her arm out for a great black owl to light on it. Clicking her tongue at it a few times she smiled as she tied the letter on and said, "Take that to Reese Fritzera."

"I see." She said. "I'm sure you will." Eva said when Lexi said that next time she'd make it all the way up. Evangeline laughed. "Well yes, that's always good. I'm not really finding to common room to bad, to be honest. I'm having fun finding my way around everywhere."

Finding an owl now, Evangeline called it over and tied her own letter on. "To Oliver Benford." She said. It wasn't like she'd be sending it to her dad, or anything. There just wouldn't be any point.

Lexi giggled as she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and watched the owl take off in a massive flurry of wings. "I prefer to spend as much time as possible in my comon room now. It is quite cozy," she said with a smile. Now that a war wouldn't break out if she stayed there. Good times. "I always loved taking the day to wander about. The moving staircase thwarted my attempts at wandering more than a few times, though," she said giggling.

"Are you excited for classes to start? Anything you are particularly looking forward to?" she asked, curiosity clear on her face.

Evangeline found that she liked spending time in her own common room, but cozy might not be the right way to describe it. She felt comfortable there, though. She laughed. "I haven't yet had too many encounters with the moving staircase so far. I might need to watch out." She said.

"Yes, I am. I don't know any teachers yet, but I'm looking forward to Charms. It's totally my favorite class. How about you?"

"Yeah, it is a bit mean at times. I believe it has intentionally shifted at least three times in the past term... making me late for class. It is doing it on purpose I think," she said with a laugh. She really did think it had it out for her. Surely it did.

"The staff is pretty awesome... for the most part," she said with a little nod. With the exception of Lafay, of course. She did not enjoy potions class one bit. "There are several new professors so really... we are all going to meet some new people. Would it be terribly cliche of me to tell you that I love DADA and Transfiguration? It is utterly Gryffindor of me, right?" Twas true though. She was stoked about the two subjects. Always.

She laughed. "I'm sure that they do have it out for you. They must have something against you."

"For the most part? Who isn't pretty awesome?" She asked Lexi, so that she could know who to watch out for. Eva laughed when she asked if her favorite subjects were cliche. "Just a little bit. I like all subjects, really. Not so much Potions and CoMC." She was still good at Potions and the theoretical part of CoMC. She just didn't enjoy Potions so much, and really wasn't a fan of animals, particularly.

Lexi gave a shrug and a laugh. Perhaps the entire school had it out for her. Sure felt like it sometimes. "Well... I don't like to speak ill of the staff, but Professor Lafay, the Potions Mistress, is a bit..." evil, mean, ruthless, "harsh sometimes," she said. Careful not to insult the Slytherin Head of House. She had respect for the woman. A healthy respect. One based on fear of limb loss. Made her mindful of what she said, therefore it kept her healthy.

"Well, the subjects are awesome, though. Nothing like learning to blow things up to make you interested in stuff. And even better when you accidentally blow things up," she added with a BIG grin. "I am utter rubbish at Potions and I used to enjoy CoMC until that... woman started teaching it. Who would have imagined that a magical creatures professor loathed children as much as she does. I thought they were supposed to be loving people," she said with a shake of her head. Oh well. People taught there that hated kids... which was BEYOND her. If you hate kids why teach? Go be a recluse... live in a cage. Or, just avoid a profession that puts you around the thing you loathe the most. Was simple really.

Eino made his way to the owlery eager to find Faustus there, hopefully with a response letter from his parents. He must have not found Eino in the Great Hall, and who could blame him with all those students there, and returned to the owlery to take a well deserved rest. Upon arriving, Eino ran directly towards the spot where he left Fautus and found that the cactus was still there, and a letter next to him! Eino picked it up and began reading the cover, but apparently this was the letter Faustus was supposed to have delivered to his mother. It had been four days, four days!! Why didn't Faustus deliver it? Maybe it was sick because of all the poop in the owlery. Eino picked up the pot and scolded the plant nonetheless. Then he looked at Kurumi, "I suppose we will have to use a school owl." He was very much disappointed that Fautus hadn't delivered the letter as he was supposed to. Perhaps Kurumi was right! Faustus hadn't learned how to fly and he ought to be taught how to.

Kurumi held Walnut close to her chest with his little stubby legs dangling in the air and his ears down in displeasure for being in a place with so many owl droppings and smells enough to paint paint peal. Kurumi looked back and forth between Eino and Faustus. "Eino," she started not really sure how to best address the issue of a cactus being unable to deliver a letter. "I don't think Faustus can deliver a letter...Walnut can't do it either, so it is not just him," she clarified. It wasn't Faustus' fault he was a cactus and therefore had to live his life in a planter.

Eino looked up at Kurumi. "You're right... It needs to fly to deliver a letter and, of course, since it hasn't been taught how to, it can't." Eino paused and looked around at the owlery, searching for the nearest window. "But, it shall learn!" He said walking towards the nearest window he could find. What? Walnut didn't know how to deliver a letter either? For shame! "You ought to teach him how to!" Eino suggested as he brought the Faustus up to his face so they could be on the same eye level. "Listen now, Faustus, flying is a requirement for letter delivering which clearly you haven't learned." Well, and that was Eino's fault, he assumed he would just learn how to fly instinctively, but maybe Fautus was a late bloomer. "How you shall do it, I am not sure..." For Faustus hadn't any wings to flap, otherwise Eino would have suggested that. "I believe in you." Eino gave a few bit of encouraging words. "Do not disappoint me." He gave the pot a tight hug and a kiss before extending his arms over the window and letting go of it. He looked over the window and down, and saw the pot falling. At any moment now Faustus would fly... Eino watched and waited for something to happen but the pot just fell, until he lost sight of it. The owlery was one of the highest towers in the castle so he couldn't even see students from up there, much less a small plant.

Kurumi watched in horror as Eino made his way towards one of the windows carrying Faustus in his arms. Her face went white as a sheet when Eino was seemingly giving the cactus a pep talk about the importance of being able to fly. Oh sweet Merlin's underpants and a hippogriff! Eino wasn't really going to...

"Eino! STOP!" Kurumi cried dropping Walnut to the ground and lunging towards her Ravenclaw. But, sadly, she was too late as Faustus vanished from sight over the edge of the windowpane.

Wait, Faustus did produce that special dew, maybe he really could fly? Kurumi rushed to the edge just in time to watch as the potted plant vanished from sight. Had it, just waved good-bye? No, that had to have been her imagination. Eino had always made the cactus move on the train.

"E-E-E-E-ino," Kurumi whispered turning to look at her friend who was excitedly waiting to see the cactus' epic recovery. "M-M-Maybe you should have started with a smaller jump...."

Eino didn't understand why Kurumi seemed so distressed. "Don't worry." He comforted her. Perhaps a smaller jump would be ideal to begin, but it wouldn't have been sufficient; this was the ultimate flying test, and Faustus had passed undoubtedly. Eino returned to the edge of the window and waited for a few minutes, hoping to see Fautus but maybe the cactus already was on his way to his house to deliver that letter. Eino turned around and saw Walnut looking up at an owl. Kurumi said he couldn't fly, right? Well that just won't do. He ought to learn how to. "Next up, Walnut!" Eino said picking up the cat and returning to the window. There should be some wings somewhere under all that fluffy fur, or maybe Walnut would simply float in the air. Nevertheless, as a magical cat it would have the ability fly. Yes, most certainly it would. "I also believe in you, Walnut." He said looking into the cat's eyes, then he turned it towards Kurumi. "Any words of encouragement or advice you would like to give him?"

Kurumi's head snapped to Eino when he said Walnut's name. He wouldn't...he would! Kurumi's eyes were bugging out of her head as she watched Eino pick up her cat and his stubby legs flailing in the air. "Eino," Kurumi said with tension in her body. "Put my cat down..."

Fly? What was this kid playing at? Was he insane?! Well, judging from the fact that he had just thrown his cactus out the window, Walnut wouldn't put it past the kid. Woah...now the kid was holding him?! "Don't you dare," the cat hissed sinking his teeth into Eino's right hand.

Watching Walnut freak out, Kurumi began to freak out a bit more. Kurumi was going to hex Eino so bad that he would be coughing up slugs for weeks if he tried to 'teach' Walnut how to fly. Hex...her wand! Of course. Kurumi took it out and pointed it at her poor kitty. "Locomotor WALNUT!" and Kurumi watched triumphantly as Walnut floated towards her, still legs dangling in the air.

Eino looked at her when she mentioned his name, but why she speaking to him? Walnut was the one who needed some encouraging words. Put it down? Did she mean down as in out the window? Perhaps so. Many people said many things Eino did not understand, and this was most certainly one of those times. "Ow!" Eino exclaimed when he felt a pinch on his hand and let go of Walnut to put pressure on his hand. As the cat was falling (not outside the window, still very much inside the owlery, only a few feet from the ground since Eino isn't that tall), Kurumi performed a spell, which Eino didn't notice. The next thing he looks up AND THE CAT IS FLYING! He jumped in the air with joy and applauded the cat. "Good job, Walnut!" How very talented of the cat, and also how curious the way it flew with its legs dangling in the air. Now he knew with a doubt that Faustus had flown too! He was now very eager to have Faustus return and ask him about his flight! But anyway, what did they come to the owlery to do. Oh yeah, a letter! "Kurumi, we can use Walnut to deliver the letter since it can fly!" Eino said with the biggest smile he had ever had on his face.

Kurumi snatched Walnut out of the air and held him like a baby. The poor cat looked like it had been put through the dryer on an exceptionally strong spin cycle. "There there Walnut, it's OK," she said as she rocked the baby back and forth as if it were a baby. Kurumi glanced at Eino and had to laugh at his delightful expression. It was endearing and Kurumi really didn't want to crush his dreams of Faustus flying, or that her cat clearly couldn't fly. Hadn't he seen her perform a the simple movement charm? Obviously, seeing the way his eyes looked like a pair of full moons, he hadn't.

"Um, Walnut is a bit tired," Kurumi said looking around the Owlery for some sort of inspiration to get Walnut out of becoming a kitty pancake on the Hogwarts' grounds. "Flying, um, using up a lot of his magical abilities so he probably won't be able to fly for...several months," Kurumi said nodding. That made sense, right? There was always some sort of limit on magical abilities, yes?

Eino watched as Kurumi rewarded Walnut's hard work and couldn't wait to do the same with Fautus! Yes, he would hug it very tightly upon its return, rock as Kurumi did Walnut, and give it a treat. He should like that. Eino was rather disappointed by the news of Walnut's limited flying ability. Looking over at the window he sure hoped that Faustus flying ability lasted a little longer than Walnut. Sadly, Walnut wouldn't be able to deliver the letter. Eino petted the cat's head and said "It's okay Walnut," then he looked at Kurumi, "We will use a school owl then, I suppose." He reached over his bag and searched for the letter he had written to his father. He reviewed it one last time before folding it and putting it in an envelope. The letter asked for this father to send Kurumi the contact details of Mrs. Elo, who could possibly help Kurumi with some information about him. He walked over a large white and black owl and tried to tie the letter to its claw but the owl repeatedly pulled its claw away, and when Eino insisted the owl spread and flapped its wings threateningly. Finally, after folding its wings, the owl opened its mouth indicating Eino that it would hold the letter with its beak. Eino gave the letter to the owl, instructed the owl who to the deliver the letter to and watched it fly away. "How do you suppose it will ask for directions if it gets lost with the letter on its beak?"

Thank phoenix's tears, Eino had given up on teaching Walnut how to fly or, how to turn into a pancake. Kurumi found herself able to breathe again and Walnut looked like he was about to pass out in her arms. "Yes, a school owl will be just fine," she nodded as she watched Eino pick out a rather handsome looking owl. For someone who loved all creatures and meant well, Eino just didn't seem to have much magical sense with them. Guess it was a good thing Kurumi was friends with him. She could make up for that. Although, she was too late with Faustus. Perhaps a summoning charm would bring him back...if she was fast enough, perhaps she could even cast reparo before Eino noticed....but...she was going to need a distraction. Her thought process was momentarily interrupted when Eino asked her about owls carrying letters. "I'm, not sure," she said thoughtfully. "Perhaps he uses wing language, you know, like sign language?"

Wing language? No, he didn't have a single idea of what it was to communicate with signs. "Do you draw them on a piece of parchment?" Perhaps it was a game Kurumi was suggesting they play, which they would have to do so sometime in the near future, but as of right now Eino was rather weary and in need of a nap, which was the perfect timing because Ancient Ruins was next and if he sat behind Guilbert Jackson, an rather tall and large boy, Eino would stay out of the Professor's sight, allowing him to doze off for a few minutes. "Where are you off to? I have Ancient Ruins now." He asked and yawned.

"Not real signs, its a kind of language where you use your hands and fingers to communicate," Kurumi explained glad that Eino seemed to be a bit sidetracked from Faustus for the moment. Maybe, if she threw some of the birdseed up in the air, all the owls would flock towards it and she could summon Faustus back to the tower. Then again, that would make Eino think that his cactus could really fly and then he would toss it out a window again. "Oh dear! I had almost forgotten about Ancient Runes! How much time do we have? Are we going to be late?!"
