Immediately apparent upon entering Professor Kingsley's office is the sheer number of bookcases, covering nearly all the available space against the burgundy walls. The books cover a number of different subjects are arranged quite precisely.

The smell of fresh parchment and scented ink is subtle, but noticeable. Few pictures grace the office, with the exception of two simple silver frames on the large mahogany desk. One shows his family, jostling for position in a photo taken many years prior. The other is a much more recent photograph of his younger sister. Otherwise, the desk is pristine, covered only by those frames and whatever work Professor Kingsley is currently engaged in.

Two plush leather armchairs sit in front of the desk with a small table between them. Take a seat, but only if you've been invited in, first.

ooc: You must first post in the corridor requesting permission to enter unless you have been escorted in by Professor Kingsley.

"Rubiey O'Rielly, sir. Gryffindor First Year." She said, whilst following him into the office. "I just wanted to introduce myself, before attending your first lesson. I didn't wish to do it at the feast; I didn't want to disturb everyone whilst they were eating." She smiled shyly.

Following the young girl into his office, he closed the door behind them.

"Pleasure to meet you, Miss O'Rielly. I appreciate your waiting until after the Feast. I'm Professor Kingsley, as you may already know."

He moved toward his desk before turning. "Did you have any questions?" He gestured to the seat in front of his desk, inviting her to sit.

I've read A Beginners Guide to Transfiguration cover to cover, and I must say it looks fascinating!" She smiled; she was genuinely excited about Tranfiguring things.

Preston smiled as he also took a seat. "I am glad to see that you are so eager. It is indeed a fascinating subject and one that I find I am constantly learning about."

Folding his hands in his lap, he answered her question. "For your age, likely inanimate transfigurations, though toward the end of term you may work with some animals as well."

Hearing several knocks at the door, Preston turned toward it. "You may enter!"

Turning to Miss O'Rielly, he smiled. "Other questions?"

Rubiey listened intently as Professor Kingsley expained what she would be studying. She smiled when he finished. "That sounds great, sir." She turned to the door to see a few students waiting outside. "No, sir. I wouldn't want to keep you from everyone else." She smiled and stood up.

"Thank you for your time, Professor. I look forward to your first lesson." With one last grin, she turned and wriggled past the students now entering his office.

Carin went into the office once she heard Professor Kingsley's voice. She should be nervous, right? All the characters in books who found themselves in similar situations were always nervous. But she just felt curious. She already lost the points which the incident had cost, and she didn't get detention like Enya - served her right. How scary could one little talk be?

"You wanted to see me, Professor?" she asked, thinking that perhaps he'd forgotten or had decided overnight it really wasn't worth making a big deal out of a little argument or... something.

Preston folded his hands in his lap and watched the girl closely.

How was she feeling? What kind of answer did he expect - regret, apologies, tears? Well, the most she was going to give him was honesty. And definitely no false apologies, no way, she told herself as she sat down.

I see that it was unnecessary and disruptive and mainly caused by my temper - that and Enya, it was partly her fault too. Carin paused. She felt some more explanation would be expected, but how exactly was she supposed to put everything that was running through her head into words right now? Besides, she wasn't sure how open she wanted to be with Professor Kingsley, not yet. Carin was not exactly a person who trusted others easily.

"I just acted how I thought was right, sir. Enya was being really unpleasant to the other girls so I spoke up, I never thought it would turn into a food fight and all. I just wanted to make her aware of how mean she was being. And I know I have a temper and all, sir, but I really am trying to control it."

Although that was proving to be more difficult than expected. Hogwarts was the only place that Carin had any discipline, really, considering her parents complete devotion to their work and no interest in their daughter - providing she got good grades, of course. At home she did what she pleased, she was regularly spoiled by her grandmother when she visited the elderly witch in France... so school was the only place Carin had any boundaries set, and she was finding it difficult to accept them without a fight. Through observation and her own behaviour, she'd learned in her first year at Hogwarts that generally obeying the rules paid off, and there were usually good reasons for them.

But she still believed that some rules were made to be broken. Only... what would Professor Kingsley think of her honesty now? Perhaps she should have covered it up a bit, been more apologetic...

But no. She promised herself she wouldn't lie, especially not about herself. She was who she was and she wasn't going to try and hide that. All she could do was pray that others would accept her for who she was, too.

"You should regret what you did, Miss Hughes," Professor Kingsley said solemnly. "Another student's bad behavior is no excuse for your own. Your actions served to escalate the situation, rather than diffuse it."

Tapping his forefingers together before pressing them against his lips, he narrowed his eyes in thought.

"Tell me, what could you have done differently, rather than knock the food over? Speaking up is a good thing. But you took it a step further, which is why you are sitting here with me."

He leaned back, interested in hearing her response.

In the meantime, there were more knocks at the door. Turning his head, and conjuring some more seating, he called out, "Come in!"

Brittany heard a booming voice on the other side door telling her to come in. Her nerves got the best of her for a split second but she quickly shook herself out of it. She smiled brightly and walked through the door.

"Hi there Professor. Im Brittany Lee and i just wanted to introduce myself becuase i think this is going to be my favorite subject." she ended with the sweetest smile she could conjure up.

Emily opened the door when she was called in, "Hello proffessor." Emily said and came in quietly and shut the door behind her. She hoped she wasn't going to come off as rude, she hated it when that happend.

"I'm sorry to bother you, proffessor, but I was wondering if you had any books on animagus" she started, "You see, since my first year I have been studying to be an animagus, and I still need a bit more studying. The Headmaster said that if I study well enough then perhaps b the end of my fifth year I could be an animagus."

Carin pursed her lips. Well, that was obvious, right?

"I probably should have just talked to her, and when that didn't work, get a teacher to do something about it," she replied.

"But, sir, as much as I know that that's the right thing to do, what about what people think about me? I mean, other students. You heard Enya accusing Skye of telling on the fight - if I went to get a teacher, she'd have done the same to me, and a lot of other people would have agreed with her. It's not fair. I mean, how are you supposed to tell if you can handle a situation like that by yourself and without getting into trouble, and when you can't?"

She stopped talking, thinking that she was rambling way too much and she wasn't even sure she was making any sense any more. But on the other hand, this was a question that had been bothering her for a while; how can you judge that effectively? Perhaps Professor Kingsley could shed some light on the matter, so that next time she'd be able to react to Enya without ending up in a teacher's office again.

"Ummm No I dont think so." she said with a sincere smile. So much for a good impression! She had to admit she was little putout that the conversation was so short but she did what she came to do so she was proud of herself. "Thank you for your time professor." She said with a brighter smile and walked out of the clasroom

Carin didn't say anything for a long moment, processing the Professor's words. She didn't often pay much attention to the words of adults around her - Merlin knows her parents never seemed to set a great example to follow, for instance - but there was something about Professor Kingsley that demanded respect. And attention.

Perhaps it was the fact he was actually taking the time to talk to her about what happened and listened to what she said, which was always too much to ask for at home.

"I guess you're right, sir. I really am sorry, and I promise to try to do the right thing in the future. I really will work on my temper this year, I promise," Carin vowed.

Well, she did fully intend on doing the right thing at this moment in time, anyway. She did not want to face further humiliation due to losing Ravenclaw more points, after all. And besides, there were better ways of arguing with Enya than in the form of a food fight right under teachers' noses. Whatever happened this year, Carin promised herself not to be foolish enough to act up and lose points. She'd be more subtle than that.

"Is there anything else, sir?" she asked him. She'd apologized and gone through what had happened that night as well as what should have happened... what else could there be to discuss? Or was there?

She was leaving already? Preston furrowed his brow. Perhaps she had something to discuss without all the people in the room. It was getting increasingly crowded in his office.

Jaxon entered the realms of the Transfiguration Professor. He nodded to the Professor and said, "Greetings, Professor. I am Jaxon Gregory St. James and I wish you well." he said trying to hide his thick Canadian accent.

"Can i go straight to the point, Sir?" he asked and continued. "I have been reading a lot about animagus and its proper ways and doings. I tried it once and almost got it but I am afraid that if I try it unsupervised I might do something wrong." he said.

Enya slowly walked into the Professor's office. Now she was here she might as well go through with what she had come for. Though it would be hard of her to actually utter the words. She looked down at her hands while she waited for the Professor to speak first. She wasn't nervous, Professor's annoyed her with their rules and such, but she knew it was best for him to speak first. Blah Blah Blah! She knew was going to come out of him mouth. Into one ear and out of the other. This was going to be boring, but she knew she needed to say sorry. Somehow.

"Is that so?" he began, sounding every bit as skeptical as the eyebrow suggested. "That is a rather difficult task, indeed a rare ability, and to be so close on the first attempt. You're quite lucky you didn't rupture an internal organ, or permanently render yourself a kumquat." Which, truth be told, if Preston had to guess what he had almost done, those were two of the options, rather than have a successful transformation.

Eyebrow settling, he leaned forward. "I have quite strict guidelines regarding my supervision of such endeavors, including excellent marks in my class. I can provide you with some additional reading, but at this juncture, you must still demonstrate excellence in the subject of transfiguration before practical lessons are afforded you."

Preston leaned back in his chair, hands in his lap. "Questions?"

"Thank you, sir," Carin got up from her seat and turned towards the office door. She was grateful for the help being offered, but she had a feeling she'd still try to cope with things on her own. She was the independent kind of person, after all.

But she'd not get into trouble again. No sir-ee, that was not going to happen.

"Take care, Miss Hughes," he said, as she exited... and the other came in.

Enya cast the seat she had been gestered to a glace before sitting on the edge of it. Well she was here now and best get all this over with. Sigh. Looking at her feet while she spoke she said, "I...uh...wanted to just say....Thank....You" She added the last bit very quite so it was only bareable. She peeked up at the Professor wonder what he would say.

Professor Kingsley leaned back, a friendly smile crossing his face. "You're quite welcome, Miss Mayberry."

Gesturing to the tea set off to the side with his wand, he poured himself a cup. "Would you like something to drink?" He paused, before adding, "and why don't you tell me what it is that I did that merits your thanks."

Enya looked over at the tea set that had just been brought out. Looking at it, sh felt she could actually do with a drink. She nodded her head with a small smile. "Yes....Please" She said, just remembering her manner's. It felt really different to her using them and all. Sigh.

The second year looked down at her hands again as she thought why she was actually saying sorry. Hm? She peeked up again. "Um...Im sorry for lying to you?" She paused, "And starting a food fight" She added, though told herself it was actually hilarious. But she didn't say that bit out loud.
