Welcome to the Hogwarts Job Fair. Over the next few weeks, a variety of professions will be presented to you. Students are welcome to come and go as they please, to ask as many questions as they want, and to participate in some of the fun activities provided by our visitors. We do ask that you treat them with respect. If you don't see a profession you were hoping to see, they may be visiting later. Feel free to contact the Headmaster or a professor with any questions (or post them in this thread).

Suggested activities by year:

First and second years: Explore the careers that seem interesting, play the games, get free goodies. In your third year, you will need to select electives that may contribute to what OWLs and NEWTs you can take some day, so this might be a good time to consider that.

Third and fourth years: Explore the careers that seem interesting, play the games, get free stuff. In your fifth year, you will be expected to narrow your class selection based on the OWLs you'd like to take. Your OWL scores will determine NEWT placement, and NEWT scores are considered in the job application process.

Fifth years: Explore the careers that seem interesting, play the games, get free stuff. Take some time to speak in-depth to several of the visitors about the requirements for employment, and then take some time this year to speak to your Head of House or professors about your career interests.

Sixth years: Explore the careers that seem interesting, play the games, get free stuff. In your seventh year, you will be taking your NEWTs, and these scores will be very important in seeking a career in the field of your choice. Take time at the job fair to make contacts with professionals in the field and to discover which subject areas you'll want to hone in on for the career you want to pursue.

Seventh years: Explore the careers that seem interesting, play the games, get free stuff. This year, you will be taking your NEWTs and probably applying for jobs at the end of the term. Talk up the representatives in each field, make contacts, seek opportunities to schedule an interview for later, etc.
