As you enter the Muggle Studies classroom, you notice that everything is decorated in a rather festive way. The walls are decorated with such items as spider webs and spiders, vampires, monsters, bats, skeletons, tombstones and other scary items. The desk itself is the centerpiece , with a large pumpkin sitting in the middle of it. The pumpkin has been carved out so that it reveals a scary face, and there is a candle inside it which provides illumination, the light flickering on and off in a rather mysterious way. On the floor beside the desk you notice lots of large grocery size paper bags, but the professor shies you away from these, pushing them aside as if they are a secret. There is also a small broomstick, a rather primitive looking black witches' hat (not the modern sort, but the somewhat old fashioned muggle concept of what a witches' hat should look like), and a picture magazine showing children and adults clad in lots of interesting and colorful costumes. There is also a stack of black and orange colored textbooks towards the front which Professor Dumont invites you to take one of - USA WEEKEND Magazine.

Take a look around, grab a book, have a seat and the lesson will get started soon!

Jenn smiled and sat next to him. "I love this class. Of coarse I love Transfiguration too."she said giggling. Jenn smiled at Kairi. Jenn looked around. "Do you know what we are learning today?"she asked Biif. Jenn smiled at the boy next to Biff. "Hi I'm Jennumara Blood. Call me Jenn tho."she said smiling.

Jenn smiled at the Professor. "O.K. Thanks professor."

"Hey Kairi," she whispered back. She moved her stuff over to her side so that Kairi would have space to put her things. Bored, she wrote down the title, date and began doodling on the margins.

Kairi placed her book onto the space that Ditzy had made for her and got out her quill and parchment. Seeing Ditzy had began to doodle, she wrote the date, title and did the same, "Are you sleeping better?" she whispered.

"All right class, we'll go ahead and get started," Antonio announced. "First off, this is how my class works. The first person who answers the question correctly will receive 3 points for that answer, with each person who answers correctly after that each receiving a point. Don't worry if your points don't show up right away, though, as I go in and tally them up later on, but you will receive them. There will also be a homework assignment, as usual.

Now, I am hoping you will all find this class interesting and informative. It's about the celebration which is coming up just a week from now in the muggle world, one which has very close tie ins with the magical worlds, as it turns out. This is, of course, the day which we all know as Halloween. But, can anyone tell me what the Celtic celebration was from which Halloween first developed?"

Rachel snickered. "I'm trying to, but it doesn't work. At least I'm back to eating a bit. I had a whole toast and a full glass of water this morning!" she said softly, checking regularly to see if the professor had begun.

EDIT: you posted before I could reply!

Rachel kept her hand down. She didn't really know the concept behind Halloween.

"Halloween was devloped out of the celtic festival Samhain" Vanessa spoke as she raised her hand.

Jessica raised her hand and answered: "Halloween grew out of a Celtic celebration marking the onset of winter's gloom. Called Samhain (pronounced sow-in or sow-een), it combined the Celts' harvest and New Year festivals, held in late October and early November by people in what is now Ireland, Great Britain and elsewhere in Europe. "

Meredith started wrote down 'Halloween' and the date. Then, she began to take notes.
When she had nothing more to write, she started drawing a pumkin next to the title.

"Samhain is the correct answer," Antonio said. "Good job, class! Now, we all know the tradition of the Jack-o-lantern, which is what the pumpkin I have here on the middle of my desk is called." He pointed to the carved out, hollowed pumpkin with the candle inside it. "But before pumpkins were used there was another vegetable that the Celts used to use to carry the flame. Can anyone tell me what that would be?"
