Desdemonda strutted into the classroom, taking a seat at the front of the class and pulling out a few sheets of parchment, a quill and inkwell, and an ink blotter. She smiled at the professor. "Good day, Professor... I hope you're doing well? I'm looking forward to today's lesson," she said politely in her proper German accent, folding her hands and waiting for class to begin.

Cassandra walked into the class... Divination had been her best class. "Afternoon professor," the prefect greeted the new ministry appointed professor and she sat in the front of the class as she usually did, she turned to the quidditch captain and said "Afternoon Des."

The Quidditch captain smiled rather stiffly; while she was glad Cassandra was here, that certain pet name still bothered her a bit. "Afternoon, Cassandra." she nodded to the prefect.

Jai walked into class and looked at herself just to make sure. Smiling she found a table with four extra seats and sat "Hello professor." she smiled sweetly at the professor, well Divi class number one.

Kayla walked into the Divination classroom. "Good day Professor' she said as she headed towards a seat in the middle of the room.

Anna picked up her pace and promptly walked into the Divination classroom, following right behind a Slytherin girl she didn't think she knew. She also took a seat on the first row and, noticing that the Slytherin girl took out her supplies, Anna followed suit. She started to speak, but stopped as she heard the girl start talking. Anna opted for a smile instead, then sat still while she waited for class to start.

Daphne walked into class, dressed in complete uniform. She normally would have worn some accessories, but she didn't want to break the rules so early in the term. Maybe after a few weeks she'd add a coloured head band or some nice bracelets. But for now it was by the book.

She heard a high voice that sounded like it meant business. She felt her hopes for a sweet professor disappear. She tucked her red hair behind her ear and quickly took a seat. she pulled out her books, some parchment, a quill and ink, and her wand and set then all out on the table. She rolled her wand back and forth on the wooden desk surface, waiting for the class to begin.

Jai took her text book and notebook from her bag along with a few leaves of parchement for quick notes. She noted the students in the room, and focused on the ones she knew. Desmonda was in the front row, she had taken residence in the third row, behind the Gryffie Prefect.

Practically dragged into the class, Kaika stepped into the classroom, greeting the professor and taking a seat close to Kayla, "Hi! How are you?" she mouthed, almost whispering, while she took out her quill and parchments to get it all ready for the class.

Tomasina straightened her uniform and walked into the class. She saw a few of her house mates and made her way over to them. "Hello Professor." She said nicely as she sat down beside Jai. she took out her book and a notebook with a self inking quill.

"Good afternoon, ladies! Once you are all settled in your seats, we may begin." With her wand, the professor installed an invisible trip-wire at the entrance of her classroom when the last of her students arrived. Why? Because incompetence should hurt. Maybe people would do it less.

"Welcome to your first Divination class on Cheiromancy. By a show of hands, how many of you are left-hand dominant?" She asked to survey a personality out-look on the sort of minds she was teaching. "As you may have read in your textbooks, that can be an indicator of an intuitive personality. According to Cheiromancy, which hand reveals what about a persons character?"

Jai glanced at Tommy and smiled, no mouthing words, no whispering. She wasn't sure just how short tempered this woman was. She twirled her quill in her hand and sat up straight in her chair.

Raising her hand she indicated that she was left handed "Professor, I'm ambidextrous." that came with torture sessions from older siblings and cousins. She had to lern to untie her hands somehow.

Kayla smiled at Kaika. "Good, how are you? she whispered back as retrieved her stuff out of her bag.

Bella raised her hand shyly, "The right, for the future, the left for your past."

Anna raised her hand and then said, "The right hand reveals our future, professor, while the left hand reveals our past."

Jade set her want on the desk in front of her before pulling a large, dusty volume out of her bag and laying it in front of her as well. This was followed by a piece of parchment, quill, and ink bottle to take notes with, though she wasn't entirely certain what to expect on the first day. Sitting quietly, with her hands folded over her lap and her supplies sitting neatly on her desk, she waited for the class to begin.

She raised her hand at the question to show that she was left-handed.

She was writing down notes, trying to resist the urge to whisper to Jai, she didn't want to get into trouble.

Desdemonda's hand shot up; not in an answer to the professor's inquiries about being left-handed -- she was ambidextrous -- but to answer her next question. "Some say your left hand reveals certain natural characteristics that you were born with, while your right hand tells of characteristics that you've developed over the years. Others claim that one's domient hand indicates information about one's present life, while in some traditions of palmistry, the other hand is believed to carry past-life or karmic information, as well as hereditary traits. In Chinese palmistry, it is believed that the right hand is examined for men, and the left hand for women."

Cassandra raised her hand, "The right hand reveals the person's future, professor, while the left hand reveals the facts that have passed."

Anna thought some more about the question, then raised her hand again and said, "The left hand is also associated with negative characteristics in our life, while the right hand is associated with the positive."

Gem perked, scribbling furiously on her parchment, taking notes until the creamy page was almost black with ink. At the question, she paused, tickling her lips with the end of her quill, golden eyes gleaming over the top of her pen, contemplating her answer. Her hand shot into the air, and she murmured, breathlessly, ""Is your right hand your practical, active hand, and your left the emotional... 'Heart' side?" She began chewing on her quill, timidly awaiting the reply.

Jade cleard her throat, raised her hand and added a bit she remembered reading. "Many believe the dominant hand will show the future because it is used more often than the lesser hand and develops differently for it. The lesser hand is believed to be closer to the hand you were born with, the hand that reveals your temperaments and talents, and therefore is often considered the hand 'of the past'."

Daphne sat down, watching all the left hands go up. She was right handed, so she was resigned to sit back. She hadn't a clue about which hand did what in Divination. She was never a fan of this course, and she was even less thrilled with the professor. She realised this was an unfair judgement, as she had barely met her.

Cassandra raised an eyebrow, "My Dominant hand is my left." she sneered.
