"It's running away!" She pulled her wand out. "Locomotormortis! Locomotormortis! Crud! Professor it's escaping!"

Rhiannon had been distracted by some footprints she had found in her wandlight and had missed the leprechaun's initial appearance. Looking closely at the footprints, she was just about to pull out some paper to make a sketch when she finally registered the noise occurring behind her.

Looking up, she watches several students scramble to grab gold that the leprechaun threw out before disappearing behind a tree. A tree that was not that far away from where she was standing. Her eyes widen as she sees the Slytherin prefect trying to cast a spell in the "leprechaun's" direction, who looks more like a house elf as she watches it disappear past her. Diving out of the way, she twists to look at the tree the small creature had disappeared behind, hoping that the rush of students doesn't obliterate her possible clue.

Finn saw the green dressed elf and smiled as he remembered his paps.

Walking up to where he had seen the elf, he took out a bronze knut and shined it up as best he could and placed it gently on the ground, within easy reach of his hands.

Over to his side a bit, he saw a flash of green and a shocked student with a blade of grass in their hand.

Sam frowned deeply, the professor was treating them like complete children! Like they didn't already know what she was having them do! It was sad. She was having her students look for traces of their colleagues. It was like trying to have a raccoon fetch. It wouldn't know how to do it.

Sam sighed slightly, his blond her playing across his eyes slightly. He supposed that he would have to help with this irrelevant search for the missing students. At that moment a green leprechaun popped out of some hole or another. "What do you know?" he said softly, "One came out." Catch it. Right.

Sam squared off with the tree that the leprechaun had decided to hide behind. He'd probably need a galleon...and a spell. Maybe he should stun it? Or just body-bind it. Fishing around in his pocket, Sam pulled out two Galleons and waved them carefully through the air in one hand, drawing his wand out slowly in the other.

As Finn was waiting for the leprechaun to return, he heard some water trickling close by. He got up, with a sudden urge to go for a swim. Finding a brook, he took off his shoes and noticed that his feet were very, very dry. It looked like they were about to crack open. He hurriedly put his shoes back on, hoping that no one had been around to see that.

He hurried back to where the class was gathered and looked around nervously, hoping he hadn't been missed.

"Oh excellent, Callie! You'll be able to take us all to dinner next Hogsmeade weekend!"



After several attempts to catch the leprechaun had failed, Lainey put her wand into the air and set off a loud, earth-moving boom.

She was sure to have everyone's attention now.

Lainey walked up and put her hands on Hitachi's shoulders. "You cannot catch a house elf. Therefore... no muggle could catch a leprechaun. So... perhaps.. the muggle legend that a few of you were holding onto so dearly, isn't as truthful as you think. If no one has ever caught a leprechaun, then how do we know what is in his cauldron? I daresay that gold would be in Gringott's, and something much more valuable would be guarded by the house elves." Lainey smiled and beckoned everyone back towards the castle.


"Follow me, class. It's time to wrap up and give you all a little homework. Say goodbye to the leprechaun!" Lainey, even through her hatred of the house elves, threw the little beast a wave before turning on her heels and heading back to the classroom.

Startled by the very loud boom, Finn looked around to see what had exploded. Perhaps a student trying a stupid spell to catch a leprecahuan. He realized quickly though that it was Prof. Lainey gathering them back for the end of the lesson.

Grateful that class was soon to be over, Finn followed the professor. It was quite odd for him to have dry skin and he wanted to go check it out.

He followed Prof. Lainey as they headed to class.

Saylie followed along behind the professor, wondering why she would have them do something that she already knew they wouldn't be able to do. All she'd managed to find was a shoelace, no gold for her, or even anything interesting. This was probably the strangest class to date, but she knew that everything would be explained once back in class, or at least she hoped so.

Rhiannon picked herself up off the ground and started following the professor back to class. She threw a longing look at the footprints as they receded behind her. She knew she was going to end up back there, examining them at a later time. But I have something I can report, she thought.
