| | |  Herbology Lesson Three: Enhanced Journaling Techniques
Lining the classroom were various plants, from cacti to ferns. Some shined and shimmered, some seemed waxy, others were just... plants. As far as that went, anyhow. Each of them (except for the ferns) was currently blossoming, which meant for a rather colorful classroom.
Erikson opened the classroom to awaiting students at last, once he was sure that everything was set and healthy. "Welcome, everyone. Please come in, take a seat. Place your konkagami or lily before you, if you could, unless you received further instruction from me on your plant."

"Because the ambient temperature in the room -- as well as the humidity-- can affect the condition of the plant, so it's important to note the temperature and barometric readings of the habitat that the plant is in, so that you can determine how the plant reacts to various environments. "Factors change throughout the day- humidity and temperature vary, as do UV conditions as the day progresses and the sun's position changes. Seasonal factors should be noted as well, because plants tend to react differently in different seasons. The more data you have recorded, the more likely you are to be able to pinpoint the plant's optimal environment and therefore be able to specify what its ideal habitat and care instructions would be." Xana answered.

At this time you would have noted if there was any change between this time and the last you checked on it, or between now and yesterday. As you do not have that information, simply note how it looks now. Often a good herbologist will also become a fairly decent artist. Sketches can be helpful in recording and labeling."

Heather pulled out her sketch book and began to sketch a picture of the rose. The petals looked smooth like black satin which she showed in her picture and rote in her notes. She looked at the stem and studied how many thorns there where and their exact location. Heather finished the sketch which was one of her best in the past three years. She took down some notes and smiled.

"Erm Sir I can't draw. I am a Quidditch Player not an academic. Can't draw, can't do anything to do with plants, can't do spells without losing my clothes," Marco said, looking at his plant. It was spiky and had one flower. It was a pink flower. How dull. He made the notes on some parchment.

Cassandra looked at the plant. The stem was strong, and very sturdy. The flower was a brilliant white and the scent... the scent was amazing... Her professor had given her an amazing bloom. She smelled it again... where had she smelled that before... her smile reappeared as she wrote in her journal.
Then she began drawing one of the stems and leaf.

Kayla wrote in her journal. The leaves were a very nice green colour, the stem was fairly sturdy although it looked like it could easily break if not handled with care...but the blossom was truly beautiful it was a vibrant pinkish, purplish colour and she could see why it was called Turk's Cap because it looked like a little hat.

"Ok Sir," Marco looked back at the plant, "I am ok thank you Heather."
He scrolled down his description, green with a pink flower and spiky bits. He drew a hill shape, and some lines coming off it. Then he drew a childish flower shape. His drawing actually looked like a five year old drew it.

"The next thing to do, of course, is note the soil. Whether it is dry or soggy and such. If you have to make adjustments, you always note down what you did." He walked along the classroom as he spoke, watching the students. Though admittedly his mind was elsewhere. By now it was all just fairly standard stuff. He could probably recite it in his sleep. But he was soon to be a father once more! He found himself fingering his wedding ring slightly, thinking of it. Spotting Dia's tiger lily brought a brief smile. He and his Tiger Lily were having another baby!

Apedemak had long ago drawn the flower but was now rapidly scrawling sentence after sentence in his note book, smiling and nodding as if listening to a story. Strangely, he had also leaned closer to the bloodroot upon his desk.
