Welcome to the second task in the Inter-House Tournament. Your moderators of this task are Mad Eye Touz, demented_death_eater, and Cassirin. Please direct any questions you may have to one of these three staff members.

Please read the following instructions and rules to help you better understand how this task will be played. There are some specific expectations of you that will be taken into consideration when we're awarding points.

1.) This event is based on solving word puzzles/riddles through communicating with your teammates. You will receive a series of puzzles and will be asked to role play your decision on where to seek the next clue. If you are correct, you will receive this clue. If you are not, we'll let you know so you may look again.

2.) This is a team event, which means your house team will only post once for each riddle you get. In order to ensure that the team is communicating, each member of your team will be required to post at least once during the event. Let me repeat this part... each member of your team MUST POST at least one time. Your RP posts should reflect that the entire team is playing, so IN THIS EVENT, you may RP for all the champions on your team.

3.) Your alternate MAY play as a member of the team, meaning you might have a team of 4 for this event. Your alternate may also simply play in the place of one of your champions should that person be unavailable to post.

4.) The only people who have input on your response to each post/clue are members of your team. Please do NOT discuss with non-champions, other house members, your Head of House, site mods, etc. Any indication of cheating will cause your team to earn zero points and could result in a loss of status for any staff member involved. This is a hard and fast rule, so ask before you try to bend it.

5.) Scoring will be based on logic, Harry Potter knowledge, and role-playing content. Spelling and grammar do count, and we ask that you make your posts as full and specific as possible in order to save time.

6.) Most importantly... have fun. If you're enjoying yourself, it will be obvious in your posting. It's just a game. A game with a prize at the end

There was a distinct chill in the air in the hour before daylight emerged over the horizon. Inside the castle, the Entrance Hall was ablaze in torchlight that danced off the honey-colored stone walls casting eerie shadows throughout the massive room. At the top of the stairs, three imposing figures emerged from the shadows - Professor Rae, Professor Vindictus, and Professor Lainey. Each were solemn and serious in their movements, but it was Vindictus who stepped forward.

"Champions, you have completed your first task in the Inter-House Tournament. Now your next challenge is to work as a team," he said in a booming voice that filled the hall. He looked directly at each champion before continuing. "Team work is crucial in this task, so listen carefully to your first clue because I will not repeat it."

He cleared his throat and in his booming voice that he usually reserved for officiating the games, he spoke slowly and clearly:

"Winged words come from afar
Bring you home where e'er you are."

Vindictus nodded at the students. "Well, you know what to do," he said and turned around to Rae and Lainey. "Shall we, ladies? The coffee and waffles can't wait for us any longer." Linked arm-in-arm, the three of them disappeared into the shadows and into the Great Hall for a quiet breakfast.

After searching high and low throughout the owlery, you finally see a tiny bit of parchment sticking out of a pile of feathers and owl pellets. Could it be a cast off letter or something more? You pull out the paper and discover the next clue.

"Come up and up in darkest night,
Find here glass eyes with distant sight."

The Astronomy Tower is dark and deserted. The only thing of any use are a few telescopes, most of them pointing north. After taking a look into each one, you noticed one of the telescopes seems to be broken. Or is it? Taped inside its lens, is your next clue.

"Dank or dark, I cannot say
But troublemakers come here to stay."

The dungeon is cold and drafty. It smells like something has died nearby, possibly a rat. Despite the unwelcome feeling the cellar gives off, a welcoming sight has been left on the board for you. Someone has written your clue 100 times on the board in lines.

"Here the Keeper's keys do keep
And also Keeper kept for sleep."

Dust is everywhere!! Several sneezing fits later, you finally narrow the clue down to the Gamekeeper's Bed. The next clue wasn't under it, nor on top. Ah ha! Under his pillow, written on a rabbit skin is your next clue.

"Ugly guard of entrance stone
Between his lips, the way is shown."

You rush to the Gargoyle, out of breath and prespiring. After a complete circle around the stone beast, you have no luck. But, sometimes things are right in front of our faces and at a closer look, you spot the tiny roll of parchment in between the teeth of the gargoyle.

"You're empty when you enter, fuller when you go
And 'neath the eagle's plenty, the final answer's stowed.
It's just a little trinket, treasure for the feat,
But bring it to the broomsmith, and find the task complete."

Your team enters the office of Professor Vindictus who greets each of you. He closes the door and motions for everyone to have a seat on the couch. "Well done! Now, let me see this trinket you have retrieved," he says in a serious voice and the leader of your group hands him the item.

The trinket is a heavy rectangular medallion that has the Hogwarts crest engraved on one side. Upon closer examination, you notice that it isn't a medallion - it's actually a small flask that is suspended by a thick golden chain. The flask is one inch wide by 2 inches high with a cap that screws off.

"Now, don't loose this valuable flask. Inside, you will find sneezing powder so don't go using it on pranking your Housemates!" Vindictus hands the trinket back to the leader of the group and grins. "Make sure you help yourselves to some chocolate frogs before you return to your common rooms!"

After fifteen minutes, you and your housemates bid the Flying Instructor goodbye and journey back to your common rooms, pleased with your success in the second task and a bit curious as to what lies ahead.
