In a perfectly foul mood, Tag stomped into the next class followed closely by Bucky. This was not his day. And Arithmancy was his worse subject. There was nothing he loved more than to stare at pages of numbers for hours on end and try to make them mean something.

Tag flung himself into an empty seat and frowned at Bucky. "You got any sweets?" Only sugar could make this horrid day any better.

As she was walking in MJ held her books close to her. She was nervous about being back. She had been gone for a week. She was glad thought that she had not missed many classes. Althought she regreated missing DADA and other classes. As she walked to the front to sit down she smiled at the Professor and very cheerfully said greeted him then went to sit down to the nearest table. She opened her book and waited patiently for class to begin.

She followed the prefect closely. Bucky had a headache that was threatening to split her head in two and swallow everything in the vicinity, possibly Tag if he didn't run away in time. Numbers wouldn't help her and she began to wonder why she had signed up for the class anyways.

Celestina dropped on the seat next to Tag and scoffed pulling something out of her robes pocket.

"I got one sugar quill. ONE."

Should she share?

Ali walked into the Arithmancy Classroom. She looked around, smiled at the professor, then looked around to see who else was there. Only three other students were there. She walked over to where MJ was. "Hey, MJ."

Kerry walked in the classroom in a rather pleasant mood. She looked around the room to see who else had arrived and saw her fellow prefect Tag, who looked like he was not in a very pleasant mood. "Oh no," Kerry thought to herself, "this should make for an interesting class."

Kerry found a seat in the back of the room, dropped her bag on the floor and kicked back and stretched her legs, trying to relax a bit before the class started. Arithmancy was not her best subject and she would need all the relaxation she could get prior to it's start, because Arithmancy tended to completely stress Kerry out.

Tag eyed Bucky with suspicion. "You wouldn't dare eat that in front of me."

Actually, she probably would. He should just grab it now before she had time to react. He wanted that sugar quill. He needed that sugar quill to survive. But something was stopping Tag from snatching it out of her hands. . . maybe it was the fact that she was in as terrible of a mood as he was. Maybe it was the irritated look on her face. Maybe it was her fist.

Celestina stared back at Tag. She would have smirked and waved the sweet goody in front of his face if she wasn't so nice....

Oh, who was she kidding?

Smirking, she waved the quill in front of the Ravenclaw's face.

"Want a little?" She inquired clearly ready to make a deal.

MJ heard her name and saw Ali. She smiled and moved over so she could sit down with her. "Hi." she whispered and smiled. "Let's not talk much so we won't lose house points I don't think teachers like it when we talk at the beginning of class." she whispered and smiled. She took out a piece of paper and wrote to her. So how are you? she wrote down and passed it to her. They would do this until class began then pay attention.

Ashley walked into the class and took a seat. watching everyone communicate she waited for the class to begin

Tag was using all his self-control not to grab the quill and stuff it up Bucky's nose, but he needed it more for his own sanity. He'd shared his marshmallows with her, after all! And this was the thanks he got. Tag normally would have cajoled and coaxed to split the candy with her, but he didn't have the patience.

He grabbed her hand, still holding the candy, and licked the entire sugar quill from bottom to top. "Still want it?"

Too slow!

"Eeeeew!" Bucky exclaimed and held the quill at arm's distance. "Tagren, of all the disgusting things you have done this beats them all."

But, still. She really really wanted the sugar quill as well. Quickly, before she could change her mind, she gave the sugary product one good lick before handing it over.

"Now you can have it."

Ashley watched as the two were fighting over a sugar quill "wow" was all she could think.

She must not know about all the disgusting things I've done, then. Satisfied, Tag greedily plucked the sticky candy from her hands and sucked noisily on the end. Who cared about Bucky germs? Not him. In fact, she could have dropped the thing in a cauldron of bat bogies, and he would have wanted it. Still. . . he regarded her silently while savoring the sweetness dissolving in his mouth.

He wordlessly broke the quill in two and gave her half. He wasn't quite sure why.

Torie walked into the classroom, her stance and posture indicating her nervousness. This was her first time taking arithmancy and she wasn't sure how it would go. Looking around for a familar face, she decided to sit beside the Gryffindor Perfect. She had been in some of Torie's other classes and seemed nice, and it never hurt to meet new people. Torie walked over to Kerry and tapped her on the shoulder. "Excuse me," she asked, "but do you mind if I sit beside you?"

It hadn't dawned on her that she had just tasted Tag's saliva in the process ingesting his germs. Good thing that too, or she would have freaked out a whole lot more than she did in Ancient Runes when Ingwaz popped up.

Gosh, did he have to be so noisy when he sucked? She pouted knowing that right now she would have been enjoying that quill. Then...he shared. Not knowing what to do momentarily, she blushed then took the half he offered and began to suck it herself just as noisily.

"Fanks," she muttered around the sugar quill and caught the eye of a fellow gryffindor. Feeling touched by Tag's kindness she pulled out the quill from her mouth and offered it to the girl (Ashley). "Want some?"

Onyx greeted and flashed a smile to all those arriving in his class.

“Right then,” Onyx said having just decided he had waited long enough for the majority of the students to arrive and take their seats. He vacated his chair and sat on the edge of his desk, facing the class. “Who here can tell me what it is exactly that Arithmancy is? If you don't know, please make your best guesstimate." He said cheerfully and half-heartedly primped his spiky black hair out of nervousness.

"Arithmancy is basically the study of the occult meanings of numbers and their influence on human life." Kennedy recalled.

Eric raised his hand a little hesitantly. "Arithmancy is a branch of study that is concerned with the magical properties of numbers." He replied.

"oh no thanx im good "Ashley replied."you can enjoy it."

Kerry raised her hand, a bit unsure but willing to give it a try. "I understand it's study of divination through the use of numbers, I think"

"It's like Divination, only with numbers," Tag said in a bored voice around his sugar quill. Hey! The sucrose was giving him enough energy to speak. Amazing.

Not waiting for the perfect to reply, Torie plopped herself down in the seat beside her as the Professor began the lesson. 'No time for niceties now,' thought Torie, 'If she was waiting for someone else, I guess it's too late'. Taking out her quill and parchment, she began taking notes on the ideas and comments of her classmates. She finished writing and listened intently for the Professor's next question.

Serena sat back, not bothering to answer the question since everyone else did. She'd participate soon enough because this was one of her favorite subjects. She boredly played with her black hair, twisting it around with her finger.
