Overview:
Ryder Jude Anders and Evan Nam were slowly building a solid friendship. Though they had been acquainted with each other at Hogwarts for Jude’s first and second years, it was only during the summer of 2105 that they bonded for a bit. With Jude entering his third year and Evan, entering his fourth, only time will tell what adventures await the Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw.
Scenes 1 to 3 can be found here. These were completed prior to the cyber attack on Snitchseeker. Scene 4: comprised of letters between Davet and Jude subsequent to Jude's heartbreak. {Unfortunately, these were not saved in the web archives. Scene 5: On the first day of the summer of 2108 holiday break, Davet came over to visit Jude. They shared their first kiss with Jude asking Davet to be his boyfriend. Scene 6: It’s the summer of 2109 and Jude attempts to teach Davet the Waltz. Scene 7: December 2109 arrives along with a Hogsmeade weekend. This is the first time in months that Jude is able to meet with Evan. Scene 8: Christmas 2109; a time in which Jude goes home for the break and has something to tell Davet. Scene 9: Springtime, 2111; in which best friends are reunited post Hogwarts for general shenanigans.

Davet needn’t worry; even Jude didn’t want to waste time by having his family hog the other boy. They got their turn later, and in any case, Addison and Connor got to see Davet on a regular basis. Jude did not so lost time needed to be made up.
Jude happily snuggled in Davet’s arms; there was a new feeling that came with it. A second later it clicked: this hug felt as though he were home. “I am.” Jude too made no effort to move in that moment. In another minute maybe. “It’s calm and quiet, with the exception of studies and classes. Going to miss all the things when the time comes, to be honest. Anyway, how was yours? Gotten any new acting parts?” Jude wanted to know everything.
Reluctantly he finally let Dav go. “Everyone’s in the kitchen but I’m not ready to share you with them so… living room?” It was a lot warmer there. Jude slipped a hand into Davet’s. Their hand holding never got old.

Davet would have assumed that by this stage the Anders heads of household would have been tired of seeing him, given how often the boy had popped by to leave a letter to be sent. He knew they did not actually feel that way but... still, he wouldn't have blamed them if they had.
The muggle boy was all too happy for Jude to not move away. It had been months since he'd gotten to see his boyfriend and he was all too happy to get to hold him close while he was physically here, before it was back to school for him in just a few short weeks. "Calm and quiet sounds nice. Only a few more months. How are you feeling about that?" Leaving a school that one boarded at, that had become so much like home, must have been very difficult. "The term is going well. I've got a leading role in the our university production but I've slowed down with the troop while I'm focusing on studies." Which he missed the group that he'd performed with for so long but he kept in contact.
Giving his hand a squeeze, Dav's head nodded at the suggestion of the living room - also pleased to not have to share for a few minutes longer. "Lead the way."

As if! Jude highly doubted either of his parents would ever get tired of Davet. Not that Jude was giving them a choice in the matter, anyway. The point was, this French boyfriend of his would be seeing Connor and Addison a lot more in the future. If said French guy wanted to stick around with Jude, that is. Davet’s question about how he was feeling about leaving Hogwarts opened up the door to a topic Jude wanted to bring up. But it didn’t feel right to do so in the doorway, so for now he detoured from the question. “It is. I’m glad there wasn’t anything to distract me. And you know all your letters kept me company through all that studying.”
Jude did just that. He led Davet to the living room and over to the nearest sofa. He sat and tugged the other boy’s hand. Jude was beyond thrilled to learn of his boyfriend’s latest role! “That’s great! I’m so proud of you! It’s sad about the troop but I understand. Rea will too.” And there were questions. “What’s the role? What’s your character’s name? Who have you got to kiss this time?” The last question was just a way to tease Dav. But back to what was asked earlier…
“About graduating from school next year. I’m looking forward to starting performance school, getting to be out and about more but most of all, it means I won’t have to leave you again.” That for sure was what Jude was anticipating the most. Merlin knew how patient Davet had been with putting up with him being gone so much. But… uh, how did he say the words he wanted to? Jude hadn’t any grand speech planned but what he did have was slight anxiety {this was normal, right?}. Or was it just fear because the memories of being rejected by Evan after he had confessed his feelings were dredged up at that exact time? He pushed those away, of course, focusing on the face before him. This was an entirely different situation; Davet liked him back romantically. “Being away from you sucks big time and it’s become more so because I love you.'' Jude willed his heart to stop racing now, his gaze glued to Davet for his reaction. "It's fine if you don't feel the need to say it back. Just needed you to know.” Just don't reject him and shatter his heart all over again, please?

There was nothing Davet wanted more than to stick around, so that wouldn't be an issue from his end either. There was still studying to come too, but Dav would happily continue to write. As if anything would actually even be able to keep him from doing so, short of Jude telling him to go away that is. "Well, I'm glad to help even a little bit from all the way over here." Next year would be so much better when the pair of them wouldn't have so much distance.
Following after Jude, he let himself be pulled down onto the couch beside him and Dav scooted just a little bit to make sure he was as close as possible to the other boy. He wasn't going to waste the time they had by not cuddling, obviously. "It was a difficult decision but I know everyone has to make it eventually. I'm hoping I'll be able to help with productions here and there but we'll see." That was for future Davet, once he was settled into his classes and later his career. "We're doing Sweeney Todd, so I'm Sweeney Todd." Which was a different role for him, a bit more sinister, but he was truly looking forward to the new challenge. At the kiss question, he flushed a bit glad that his boyfriend understood the life of an actor just sometimes meant that did have to happen but thankfully on this one... "Only cheek kisses from fellow co-star. My character is trying to avenge his wronged and gone wife so he's not interested in anyone, despite one person being interested in him."
It was hard to not smile even wider when Jude echoed Davet's own thoughts about his impending graduation. The idea of not having to separate for so many months truly was the most exciting upcoming event to the french lad. Hearing it was for his boyfriend too sent a spark of warmth through him. But before he could say anything in agreement, he noticed a slight shift in Jude and it was clear he had more to say. Though... he wasn't sure what and even though it was pretty clear it wasn't going to be the type of talk Davet always dreaded as a potential coming up... he still felt his own anxiety that maybe it was. So imagine his surprise where instead of Jude telling him this wasn't working, he confessed that he loved him. That was certainly not something that Davet had been expecting, knowing how complicated Jude's feelings were and having entirely respected that and accepted that for the duration of their time together, it was possible his feelings would just always be deeper. But now... now his boyfriend was telling him they were reciprocated? Davet truly wasn't sure how to respond, words currently failing him as everything flew from his head. So he did the only thing he could think to do, and took Jude's face gently between his hands and kissed him - hoping that perhaps he could convey all of his own feelings that way.

Did Davet not know that he had always helped Jude? Ever since they had started going out Dav had been a huge help in some form or the other. That was his Davet for you; always kind, helpful, thoughtful and comforting. The last adjective was perfect because Jude was so, so comfortable having his boyfriend so close to him. What a great way to start off his return home!
It made sense that Davet wanted to give back; it was exactly how Jude felt about his dance school which was why he’d agreed to take up the tutoring position there. “We’ll ensure you’re able to work something out.” The plural had been used because Jude intended to help Davet figure something out. Sweeney Todd… Sweeney Todd. The name sounded familiar. As the character was explained, Jude recalled hearing Rea talk of the Muggle movie which had gone through many remakes over the years. He reached out to poke Davet’s nearest flushed cheek with a finger. “One cheek kiss for you is fine, I’ll allow it.” Jude grinned. Thankfully he had never been the jealous type. He still got a good laugh out of Davet having to kiss Reagan that one time and liked to tease the boyfriend about having kissed two Anders’. “You’ll crush this role too, Dav.”
This 'ship wasn’t working? That thought hadn’t occurred to him. EVER. If anything, Davet being introduced to his life had been the best thing that had happened for him; dating Davet had been the best decision he’d made. Jude’s feelings were complicated, yes, yet he’d come to understand how much the other guy meant to him. How Davet had managed to put up with him while he sorted those feelings out was something he’d never understand but Jude was grateful in every possible way. Regardless of the outcome, the Hufflepuff was just glad he’d finally gotten the chance to express his feelings. It was a risk that paid off for him because they were kissing and Jude was being held and…
Dear Merlin!
This was the happiest moment in his life!
Jude kissed Davet back with everything he had… and yes. Yes, he felt all those feelings the boyfriend put into it.

Truthfully, no. Davet had no idea he had been helpful. Not until this moment anyways and Jude had told him he was. He also had no idea that the other adjectives would have been used to describe himself, but hearing that's how his boyfriend thought of him certainly would have made him happy.
The 'we' was not missed in Jude's response, which turned the smile Davet had already been wearing just the slightest bit brighter. "I'm sure we'll come up with something good." He liked the use of 'we'. It's not like it was new, now that they'd been together over a year, but continuing to use it in future tense also warmed his heart. He liked the idea of him and Jude having a lot more future ahead of them - together. He made a face at him at the cheek poke, laughing softly. "Is that you also saying that's the one that's allowed?" He was glad that Jude was not someone who was jealous, especially when physical closeness was sometimes required in his line of work. It was always acting to him though - with anyone except Jude that's all it would be. "Thank you. It's a different role for me so I'm really looking forward to it." They often told him he looked like a lead from a romance - something to do with his natural facial expressions and fluffy hair. But he was looking forward to breaking out of that type casting.
While his own feelings had always remained uncomplicated, Davet just understood that that wasn't always the case. Emotions were unpredictable, the heart could be too. But he'd known taking a chance on Jude - even if he could have gotten hurt in the process - was going to be worth it. And this moment? That was exactly what this moment was. So he returned his boyfriend's kisses, and when it was necessary to pull back he rested his head against Jude's. "I love you too." In case that hadn't been obvious.

Then Jude was glad he had told him and going forward, he would remind Davet everyday of it. Excuse you, Mr. Durand! But this guy thought the world of you! Therefore, all the positive adjectives would always apply. To attach any other kind would be a heinous sin.
The ‘we’ to be used in the future came about most likely because Jude had finally gotten it in his mind that he and Davet made a great team; the very best, in his opinion. So while the boys had always been supportive with each other, Jude’s resolve to continue doing so had grown stronger. So yes, Davet, anything for you! Including teases and cheek pokes! “Correct! Any other, and I’ll riot.” He trusted Davet to the fullest, and well, should he get tired of Jude at any point, he could just tell him. “Reckon I can go watch you practice sometime?” One of Jude’s favourite things to do was exactly that. He never ceased to marvel at how easy his boyfriend made acting seem {don’t worry; you did too, Rea} or how when Dav slipped into character it was like watching something hypnotising happen. Most of all, he loved staring at Davet. Such eye candy he was!!! In the very near future, he would have a ton of fanboys and fangirls.
Jude would never ever get over it: the fact that Davet could be so understanding and patient. He didn’t want the kiss to end, quite as much as he never wanted their snogging sessions to end whenever they happened. At least Jude could breathe easily now and his fear of getting his heart broken again had evaporated because yes, the reaction had very clearly stated Dav’s feelings. As he sat there, his head resting against Davet’s, he couldn’t help but count himself lucky for having him. Jude reached for the other young man’s hand again. “Thank you for taking a chance on me.”

Davet chuckled at his boyfriend's silliness, but as soon as he'd done so he'd commited to also playing along with the joke and grew solemn as he nodded his head seriously. "I'll make sure I mark the spot with stage tape so my co-star knows the allowed spot to aim for." Wouldn't that be a sight? At the question of if he could accompany him for practice sometime, Dav brightened a bit more and gave a nod of his head. Jude being in the crowd always gave a different type of nerves - but he would categorize them as the good type. And he also had a hypothesis that he performed even between when he was also trying to impress the one person he wanted to. "I'd love it if you did." He'd get him a copy of practices for over break shortly.
At the expression of gratitude, the boy looked questioningly over at Jude, his head tilting a bit. "I wouldn't have imagined any other option." And truthfully, if one was to ask him it had been Jude who had taken more of the chance. He was the one who'd had to endure the complicated feelings, and from what he knew of Jude's personality... the probable guilt he felt and confliction about if being with him could cause pain. Jude was tenderhearted and Davet knew he would never want to intentionally hurt anyone, lest of all himself. "Thank you for taking a chance. I.. don't know exactly how it felt for you, but I know there must have been things that were hard." And he wasn't upset with him for that, he just was sorry that things hadn't worked out for Jude the way he'd initially hoped - pre meeting him.
Even if Davet also had benefited a lot from the fact it didn't. He still didn't like to imagine the pain.

Then it was Jude’s turn to chuckle. Merlin, the other guy was so funny and just as silly and excessively cute! “Okay,’’ Jude agreed verbally and nodded his head as well to show he was one hundred percent on board with this decision. “That’s a good idea, just in case your costar needs a reminder to not miss your cheek.” He was still teasing because anyone could easily be attracted to Davet; Jude wasn’t worried though because he knew his boyfriend only had eyes for him. “Great! You know I’ll be there every session that I possibly can.” Dav always easily impressed him, not just in acting but with everything he did. Dancing, for example; Jude always appreciated how much effort was put into the time they spent dancing together.
It turned out he could fall more in love with this sweet Muggle boy. But Jude could imagine another option: the one where Davet was just tired of waiting around for him and was thinking about leaving him, or some other scenario where Jude ended up with a broken heart yet again. Listening to Davet, Jude realised in that moment how much he had been terrified of Davet shattering his heart but he had been stupid for thinking Davet would never do such a thing. He turned his body so that he could comfortably rest his head on the other guy’s shoulder. “It was difficult,’’ the younger boy admitted. “You're welcome. But everything’s always easy with you. You helped me forget most of that hurt.” He said ‘most’ because there were times when Jude felt that heartache still lingering. “And since we’ve been together, I’ve never been happier. You’re quite something special, Davet Durand,’’ Jude added, smiling and leaning up to kiss Dav’s cheek.
Jude was rather glad that his boyfriend had never experienced such hurt; he himself aimed to never cause such pain, or even the slightest, to him.

”I’ll even hang a picture of you back stage so that everyone is reminded how off limits I am.” He chuckled, grinning at Jude even further. Truthfully, he did usually have a picture of him and Jude at his own station used for getting ready for shows. Though it had never been used for the sake of the purpose he was mentioning now - merely because he liked to see the other boy, even just in photo format. “I do know that. I look forward to it.”
When Jude rested his head against Davet’s shoulder, the curly haired boy laid his own head on top of his, reaching over to then take his hand in one of his and intertwining their fingers together. “I’m just glad I could help. And I’m glad things have turned out this way - even if I never expected it to.” He’d wished, sure. But his friendship and relationship with Jude had never come with the expectation of being loved in return - he’d been happy just to have this time together. “You are as well, Jude Anders. I mean that sincerely.” He smiled at the cheek kiss, before wrapping an arm around his shoulder and pulling him even closer.
He was more than content to just sit here with the boyfriend, as long as Jude wanted. And maybe steal more kisses here and there as well - which was exactly what he did.

The combination of working and school and the busyness of the schedule was something Evan was still getting used to. But even with packed days, he was still more than willing to make time for Jude - especially now that they were both graduated and had all the time in the world to do so. That was something that also took getting used to however, the having the freedom of not being separated by Hogwarts to hang out whenever they wanted, but also not the ease of just meeting in the middle of school somewhere between Tower to Dungeons. It took a lot more planning.
Which was exactly why today they had the agreed upon arrangement to meet at a local arcade. It was one that Evan was fairly certain Noah had visited with his own best friend, making this apparently just a Nam trait. Reaching the location, he went ahead and used what muggle bills he had on him to change into well… change, so that he and Jude had plenty of fuel for the machines they decided on trying after his arrival. With that handled, he dropped it all into a bucket and ordered a thing of popcorn for snacking on. Did he need food? No, but the buttery smell got to him.

Nothing, and JUde meant NOTHING, could ever hamper him from having time with the bestie. Evan remained one of the most important persons in his life, even if they didn’t see each other everyday. This was why he had made sure that this BFF arcade date was the only thing on his agenda today. Or at least the entire day was open because later this evening, he planned on surprising the boyfriend with a proper home cooked meal.
Arriving at the arcade, Jude took in the sounds, the smells and the people. The place was clearly buzzing with activity which only energised this extrovert further. With an extra spring in his steps, he went off in search of Evan. It actually did not take him long to locate the other young man. “Bestie! HI!” Gosh, Jude had certainly missed Evan even though they communicated regularly. But that wasn’t anything like seeing the other guy in person, was it? “Hungry, are you?”

The former Ravenclaw was currently in the process of shoving fistfuls of the buttered snack into his mouth, observing some teenagers playing a dancing game while he waited. He admired the footwork and was certain that was a game Jude would do quite well in, but as for himself? It was too fast paced and co-ordinated. If Evan had learned anything of himself with all his time spent with Jude, he was not a natural dancer.
Hearing a familiar voice chirp beside him, Evan's attention turned to the other boy as he offered a smile and a small wave of his hand. "hey stranger." Hardly. The two were very good at keeping in touch - but it was nice to physically spend time together. "Not in the slightest, but this is addictive. Would you like some?" He offered the bag towards the other boy, letting him take as much or as little as he wanted. "How's it going?"

It was certainly a coincidence that Evan happened to be paying that particular game some attention because it was the exact one Jude had in mind for them to try out first. Maybe it was a cliche that he’d choose that one right off the bat but he couldn’t help it: dancing was his passion. Get ready for some silly fun, Evan!
If the two were actual strangers {meaning, if they were meeting after a very long time}, Jude thought that he might have cried. Since Evan made a great deal to him, the thought of them drifting apart after the older boy’s graduation from Hogwarts had haunted the younger one for quite a bit {it kind of still did}. Much to Jude’s relief, his fear hadn’t come to pass as the two young men seemed to be managing their friendship well amongst life’s challenges. “Sure, I’ll have some, thanks!’’ Popcorn was a proper snack. “Note to self: must get Evan another bucket of popcorn before we leave the arcade.” Grinning at his own silliness, Jude shoulder bumped Evan. “I missed you a great deal, you know. I suppose I’m still adjusting to not seeing you often like before.” But at least his friend was still a constant in his life, and Jude hadn’t been replaced. “But it’s going really good,’’ he continued brightly. “Are you treating yourself well?” The question was accompanied with a questioning arched eyebrow.

It shouldn't be a surprise to him which game he would be subjected challenged to first. It was his own fault really for not having forethought, because than maybe he would have second guessed offering Jude pick the first one. Because he absolutely was going to let his friend choose first.
Ev had no intention of becoming a stranger in Jude's life. And he would assure him of as much as often as the other male needed. It was weird not seeing each other as often as before, but he certainly couldn't third wheel and try to room with him and his boyfriend. And while he was fairly confident Jude had moved on from his previous feelings, Evan still wanted to be as respectful as possible lest it make Davet at all uncomfortable. Not that the french gentleman had ever expressed anything similar to that. "You're welcome." At the memo, he just gave a small laugh and shook his head. "You don't need to do anything of the sort. I'm sure one will be sufficient." Even if that one was shared. He didn't even really need food currently. He exaggeratedly veered off to the side at the shoulder bump, before giving another small laugh to show his teasing. "I've missed you too. The ease of hanging out is probably the only reason worth missing Hogwarts for." Well... for him at least. Particularly now that he was so close to the graduation of both his sisters. No more Nam's, at least until Hailey was old enough. "How are you enjoying WADA? Still having a good time?" Was he treating himself well?? Evan considered the question, before giving a small shrug. Jude would know because Evan had put up with him through all of the earlier drama, which was something the dancer was grateful for. What he kept a very, very close secret to his heart was that he still felt the same way for Evan. Those feelings had been very carefully buried, and the only person he was sure was aware that the feelings lurked still was Davet. Because Davet knew him all too well, and Jude knew better than to ever lie to his boyfriend. That didn’t mean that he loved Davet any less though. No in the slightest. It was all just... complicated.
Exaggeration or not, Jude was prepared to get ALL the popcorn he and Evan could eat! “Luckily I saved my appetite,’’ he joked back. It certainly was nice to be missed by someone you loved and Jude was feeling all light and fuzzy about it. “That and being able to get about in the world more instead of being confined to just Hogsmeade.” A lot of the times the school and its environs were missed, however. For seven years it had been his home. “The time of my life!’’ So much enthusiasm came with those words! “I’ll be taking part in WADA’s summer concert. You’ve got to come to it!’’ Everyone he loved had to, actually!
Jude smiled. “Well, you don’t look any worse. Just perhaps some greys and a few wrinkles here and there.” A good teasing for the bestie was always appropriate. “So. To the dance machine then? Let’s see how rusty you are and oil those joints of yours?”

Truthfully, Jude had given Evan plenty of source material that he could have argued that fact. Not because the former Hufflepuff ever made him feel like a bad friend, but because Jude himself was actually the best. But a debate saved for another day, he supposed.
"Saving an appetite is such a foreign concept to me. you mean you can't just always fit more in?" He was teasing, but only just barely. Which he was certain Jude knew - though Evan could admit his own had perhaps lessened after his time spent as an alpaca and the constant stomachache he'd had for months after the event. That was something he certainly did not look forward to ever experiencing again. "True. That has been a benefit as well. Have you and Davet done any exploring lately?" Now that unviersity had started, Evan had caged his wanderlust. At least until he had a degree and figured out what was next. "Just send me the date, I'll be there." Wouldn't miss it, save death or extreme injury.
He snorted at the tease, running a hand through his hair that he'd allowed to get a little longer than he used to keep it. "The grays are probably hiding somewhere in there. But those aren't my fault - blame Noah and my sisters." He certainly did. "The wrinkles I'll blame on you. Aren't laugh lines usually the ones that show up first?" He gave an exaggerated groan, his smile unchanging to assure his best friend he was merely teasing, as his feet moved towards the machine. "I hope you have your wand to patch up the inevitable injuries when I fall off that thing." It wasn't a hardwood floor but probably just as perilous.

Correct! Today was no time for debate {though Jude would make sure he won that should the topic ever come up!}
Ooh, the sheer cheek, Evan Nam! Luckily your best friend never minded it and rather enjoyed seeing you this happy. Jude stuck his tongue out. “A dancer’s allowed to consume most of the calories and carbs! Besides, how else would I keep up all this energy?” Indeed, he knew all about Evan’s unfortunate decline in appetite and the even more unfortunate reason behind it. Alpaca!Evan had been a wild time during their stay at Hogwarts but obviously not without consequences. “As much as we can, when we’re not busy with our classes or not being lazy at home. I mean, acting classes and performance classes drain us sometimes and all I want to do on days like that is sleep for half a dozen hours straight!’’ That and snuggle with Dav. “I hope you’re not spending all your time studying? We don’t need a repeat of your OWL year.” Ev had considerably relaxed in his final year and had still done excellently at NEWTs so this was why Jude rather had his fingers crossed that the latter trend was continuing. “You bet! You’d better be there.” Or else.
Jude rather liked Evan’s hair long. Back when the dancer was first cushing on the older guy, he had been quite taken with those strands. Hearing the response, he chuckled heartily. “The girls doing well then? Noah as well?” The other Nams’ was missed; they had always been so good to him. “In that case… those are the best sort of wrinkles! You had better prepare yourself since you’re going to have many more before the day is out!” Jude snorted as they arrived at the machine. “Should I stick your hands to those poles? I think those’ll keep you from falling.’’ Grinning, he pointed to the bars/poles that would be at the back of the persons using the machine, once the persons were facing the screen of the machines. That was their true purpose but they weren’t something he really used.

See, he absolutely couldn't agree more with that statement! "Which is exactly why I would think saving an appetite wouldn't be necessary for you either!" Dancers were certainly some of the most active people Evan had ever met. Between Jude and Noah's Hufflepuff and all of the others he was probably just forgetting about. Alpaca!Evan had certainly been quite the experience. But not one that Evan had been disappointed to see the tail end of. Rather, he was MORE upset when he happened to cast his patronus and saw to his dismay what had taken shape. Since then he hadn't even tried to cast it again and his animagus training had certainly come to more of a standstill as well. People DID say the two forms were more often than not the same. He was hoping for them to be wrong in his case, but also wasn't ready to risk it. "What's been your favorite thing you guys have stumbled across so far?" He was surprised the pair had so much energy to expend, but in an impressed sort of manner. "I study an appropriate amount. Work keeps me from spending ALL of my time poring over the same material." Well... unless that material was necessary for his position, anyways. "But I do a healthy amount of hanging out with my flatmate and seeing my family too." See? He'd learned his lesson about all work and no play.
Evan didn't mind it longer, but it was also starting to get to a point where it was nearly in his way - so it was probably short lived until a trip to a hairdresser was in his future. "The girls are good. Don't see Maya much now that she has her boyfriend. And Lisa is figuring what's next for her." He was quite proud of them both, which probably crept it's way through in his tone. "Noah is too. He seems to be really happy with the way things are now. I'm glad for him." His older brother had been a constant source of stress for the younger Nam male, only because he was worried he'd never truly bounce back after his experience in the war. But then again... neither really had Evan. But they'd both grown from it and were both in a position now where their experience did not rule the rest of their life. "Always seeking to age me to quickly." he teased, shaking his head in mock disappointment as he moved closer to the machine. His initial comment had been meant in pure jest and yet he was maybe eying the machine just the slightest bit suspiciously now that they were closer. "Sticking my hands to the poles will do more damage than good. What song you want to choose?"

Evan’s Animagus form, should it happen to be an alpaca indeed, then he would have at first been horrified with memories of his homework being eaten and Evan being sick because he had eaten uneatables while in the animal form. Then once Jude got over that horror, he would double up in sheer laughter at the irony of it all. “All the places to eat, with all their fancy food,’’ he remarked promptly. “It’s wonderful expanding my food knowledge.” Even if it meant that a good portion of his money would be going to the culinary department. Oh, well. It was worth it! Jude narrowed his eyes as he surveyed Evan as though trying to ensure that his bestie had indeed done what he said he had. Evan passed because Jude lit up with a smile. “Excellent! That’s what I needed to ensure - you keeping the balance between study and life in general! What’s your flatmate like?” He tried not to make a face at the thought of Evan enjoying another friend’s company more than his. It indeed seemed that Jude’s fear of being replaced would continue following him around until his last breath.
“It’s nice that they’re getting on with their lives but sort of sad at the same time, isn’t it?” Jude could absolutely relate to this as he had seen it with all three of his siblings. It was important that they were still close though. “I’m just glad to hear they’re all doing well, even if Lisa isn’t sure of what she wants right now, you know she’ll figure it out, much like you did.” There was always confidence for the Nams’ on his part.
Jude found it remarkably funny, Evan’s reaction to the machine. One could see and hear him laughing heartily for a bit about this. “Any Electronic dance music! Let’s get those moves on right off the bat!”

"Sounds like you and Davet should be taking a cooking class, then." Unless they already were. But if not, Evan filed that idea away for perhaps a future Christmas or birthday present for his best friend and his partner. He certainly likes to try new foods too, but it was usually more along the lines of recipes his family had opted to throw into the mix. Eomma and Halmeoni's cooking was his favorite, though even he would have to admit his cousin's restaurant was top notch. He almost looked forward to when Chin was back from tour with his wife and around the family kitchens more. "I'm doing decently, promise. Family and friends certainly keep me from becoming reclusive again with my books. And I also just don't feel the pressure to need to anymore." Good graces were nice, but they weren't everything. "Hartley's good people. He isn't a new acquaintance, since he's tutored me before on some crash courses of History of Magic I was still missing." Though naturally he didn't fault Professor Holden for the gap in knowledge - there was just too much to cover. "But he's a history buff like me, but has more of your general enthusiasm towards life. You'd probably like him." And he could come over to the apartment anytime to meet him, if he so wished. "How's your living situation? Things going well with Davet?"
"It's bittersweet." He agreed, with a nod of his head. He was pleased for all of his family, but being spread out so much now was disappointing. Even the extended family he got to see less and less of. "You're right. It might take her some trial and error, but she's young and has plenty of time for that still. Truthfully so did he and Maya and even Noah too. There was plenty of life left to find something they all really loved.
A playful eye roll at Jude's clear amusement, though of course there was no real annoyance to the action. Ev was just glad to see his friend having fun. "You're the boss. Pick whatever looks good.'. He'd probably regret that.

“That has crossed my mind once or twice. The only thing that actually did not make me take the idea seriously is time. Dav and I can get so busy so often.” There were their respective classes, chores at the apartment, the dance lessons Jude taught, acting roles for Davet, not to mention them dividing their time among family and friends… there just didn’t seem like many hours in the day recently. “I think I need to make a bucket list,’’ Jude continued seriously. “Cooking classes would definitely be on it!’’ Maybe Evan would like to be included in those classes too because as much as Evan seemed to be doing better these days, Jude would not deny that he did occasionally worry about his friend slipping into memories of events of the past. Having been with Evan for the most part during that extensive suffering, he did not want a repeat, not just for him or Evan but for Evan’s family too. A subtle breath of relief was let out. “I’m always just a call away if anything gets too overwhelming,’’ came the reminder. Surely Evan knew that it didn’t matter what time of day or night; he’d always be there. “Or you can always show up at the apartment. Dav and I would never mind your presence.”
As talk continued about Hartley, Jude resisted the urge to make a face and instead sought to cram his insecurity in a box and throw the key away. “Sounds like you two are getting along smashingly,’’ he remarked, hoping he successfully faked some enthusiasm. “Another good thing is that you guys can help each other out with Uni work if needed.” Poor Evan. Jude could relate to having not seeing the family regularly. Jude put an arm around his friend. “She knows you’re always there for when she needs you after any of those errors.” To be young is to make mistakes while figuring things out but Maya was sensible to learn from all of life’s lessons.
“Here’s to hoping you don’t regret those words!’’ Jude happily prodded Evan in the side then selected a hot and happening playlist of electronic dance music. It was one mixed with really ancient songs, not so ancient ones and recent ones. Plenty of fun to go around for both friends! “And here we… GO!’’ The music kicked off - Martin Solveig’s Ready 2 Go - and Jude wasted no time in letting his moves loose!

Alright so, perhaps a Christmas gift for a few years down the road. Evan had certainly not considered how crazy the schedules must have been for the two males and their selected career paths. Acting in general took up a lot of time as it was, but pair that with course loads and jobs and family and friend time. He almost felt guilty for taking any of Jude's time now, though he knew the former Hufflepuff would have probably been perturbed with him for even thinking that. "What else would be on your bucket list if you had the time?" He asked, curiously since the subject had been brought up. As for Evan's own overwhelming feelings? "I know you are. And if things get bad again, I'll reach out. But I'm really doing okay." He gave a reassuring smile. "Besides, i think you're in the one in danger of burn out this time. Careful not too overload yourself too much. And let me know if there is every anything I can do to relieve some of your load." He didn't think there was, but if something came up he'd certainly want Jude to know he likewise could reach out for assistance and Ev would happily give it.
Knowing about Jude's previous insecurities, even if he couldn't SEE it on his face currently, Evan just gave a nod at the further talk of Hartley before letting the conversation fall away to focus on talk of family instead. Which was more and more becoming more of his favorite topic - mainly since becoming Uncle Evan, which also kept his passport in frequent use as he traveled back and forth to visit them. "She does. I think they all do. I'm not sure if it was the shared trauma or what but.. I was lucky to also have a close bond with my siblings." Something he knew Jude understood, given his relationship being what it was with all of his.
"I am actually about 85% certain I will regret those words." He teased, stepping up onto the machine and awkwardly shaking out his limbs to get ready to move. How his brother could have been such a natural born dancer and Evan... this disaster, was truly a marvel. As the screen started to show movements for them to match, the Nam male certainly did his best to keep up.
Though he wouldn't lie and say his attention wasn't more on just making sure he stayed ON the machine and didn't step off one of the sides.

But there certainly was no need for you to feel guilty about ANYTHING. Jude was quite sure he had made it rather clear that Evan was one of the top priorities in his life. Top priorities therefore deserved time to be made for them. So yes, Jude would have been quite perturbed had he known Evan was thinking like that. “It’s not extensive. Adopt around a dozen kids is one.” He grinned. “Get ready to be an uncle of many more nieces and nephews! Let’s see. Visit at least fifty countries. Win a couple of dance competitions…” Or at least his students winning a few. “So, now that you’ve had time to reflect, have you also come up with a list of things you want to do? Outside of academics, that is.” As for Evan really being okay, Jude one hundred percent believed that because he trusted the bestie fully. There was truth to Evan’s words about him being burnt out if he wasn’t careful. “This right here is helpful. Unwinding with you certainly makes me forget how busy I’ve been lately.”
Jude too was glad of the topic of Hartley to go bye-bye. In any case, it was quite easy to see that Evan was rather loving talking about his family. “Close sibling relationships are important. I expect we’ll need to lean on them as life comes at us. Merlin knows how many challenges there are going to be.” Siblings were a light at the end of a dark tunnel as far as he was concerned.
Jude was grinning broadly as he watched Evan. For as long as he had remembered, he had tried to instil some decent dance moves in the Ravenclaw but clearly he had failed miserably. No worries though! One didn’t need to be a top tier dancer to have some fun! Which Jude was having, by the way! “Nice moves!’’ he teased, he himself doing his best to keep up with the movements required. No boasting on his part here but it was quite effortless.

At the first additional bucket list item, Evan's eye nearly popped out of his head as his jaw dropped in shock. "A dozen? It's a good thing being an Uncle is my favorite thing." He teased his friend, shaking his head with a small laugh. On the one hand the number sounded exaggerated and yet Jude was such a family oriented individual something told him it might not have been 100% only in jest. "Where are the first countries on your list to go and see?" He hadn't been expecting the question to be turned back to himself, and while Evan had been taking more time to unwind - he also hadn't considered much of what to do with his free time outside of bounce around here and there and work and study. Which sounded like burnout territory sure, but this level of busy was where he was happy and comfortable. "I don't know. Maybe I'll try attending more concerts. I'm not good at music, but I do like it. And more art galleries. I went to a showcase for Ash and outside of the bias that I would have there, the art showing itself was a fun time." He still didn't have the talent to do anything himself but that didn't mean he couldn't enjoy. A smile replaced the earlier look of shock at Jude's words and he gave a small nod in agreement. "Good. I'm glad it's as healing for you as it is for me."
The youngest male Nam liked to think the challenges that the siblings endured were over - that they'd met their quota back in his second year. But he also knew Jude was right and that life was sure to still throw plenty of curveballs his way later on. He'd just rather they come to him than the other three, if it could be helped. "I was reading a book of poetry where someone was outlining how important close relationships with your parents are, but that siblings are the real backbone because they're closer in age and generally bound to be around longer." Not that he liked to think about the mortality of Appa and Eomma but... y'know.
He was clearly a lost cause. Noah had tried, Chase had tried and Jude had tried the most of them all. And yet still, he resembled more of a newborn Abraxan than anything that could even pretend to be graceful. "I'll call it a success as long as I don't fall!" He joked back, glancing over and laughing seeing how easy it was for Jude. "Of course you're on rhythm and entirely balanced!"

Had Jude never mentioned to Evan his intention when it came to adopting? In a flash, he sort of understood why the Universe hadn’t brought him and his best friend together as a romantic couple: Evan most likely would prefer to be an uncle and probably would not have wanted that many kids. “You’ll have loads more nieces and nephews to spoil then! Maybe if not a dozen, then close to it because Dav’s completely game for the challenge.” That sweet boyfriend of his was just remarkable and amazing. In any case, Jude already had seen how great Evan was with kiddos so there was definitely no qualms about leaving his in Evan’s care whenever! “Not sure. Probably Sweden or one of the other Nordic countries. There’s definitely New Zealand. And of course I want to go to Korea again.”
It made sense that Jude wanted to know all about Evan’s list too, right? After all, he would forever be interested in the bestie’s life. At the mention of concerts, he perked up. “OOOH, you’re in luck, Ev! You know I’m going to send you tickets to all my concerts, even if you get tired of coming to them after a bit!” That was a promise! “I think all that you’ve come up with sounds really fine. It’s relaxing to be at concerts and looking at art. Maybe you can make trips to museums and galleries around the world. And how is Ash, by the way?” Jude always remembered her as an artist and also as the
Certainly life could throw a curveball in the least expected moments. But it never did well to just sit around waiting for one of those while forgetting to live. It just made life miserable. Now, Evan’s and Jude’s relationship with their respective parents were as different as night and day. Because of his experiences with his parents, he couldn’t quite agree with the sibling relationship being the backbone relationships. In his eyes, both were equal in his case but in Evan’s… “I get that. And I know you guys are going to continue having great bonds like I do with Rea, Keigh and Ko.”
Jude, and he was sure Noah and Chase, had done their best when it came to dance with Evan. As brilliant as that boy was, the Hufflepuff still wasn’t sure how the Ravenclaw could not master the art of dance. Then again, no one was good at everything. “Don’t worry, I’m sure I can catch you! Or attempt to, anyway!’’ he replied, laughing and missing a few steps in the process. “Oh, Ev! You do flatter me!’’ Cue wiggly eyebrows.
