This is my first fan fic about one of my rpg charries, Naomi Cambridge. Its kinda of a post school story. Hope you like it!

A New Start

Naomi rolled over on to her back. She gazed up at the ceiling of her new flat in London, downtown London. Just 3 months earlier, Voldemort was defeated by Harry Potter and his friends Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley, and Neville Longbottom. My was that Nevile Longbottom cute. She looked at the newspaper clipping that hung on the bare wall by her bed. There the four of them stood, raged and warry after a long battle. She wished she was there, fighting along side them, but aleast she was in the States getting ready for her NEWTS. She had passed them with flying colors and now she was ready to start her new career in England. She came to become an auror, not that she was sure there was still jobs for them, but thats what she wanted to do, so by Isis she was going to do it. Nothing had ever stopped her from doing what she wanted and it wasnt going to start now. She had always been an independent woman and always will be. Getting off of her bed, she wondered into the kitchen. She openned the fridge and took out her bottle of water. Just then a tap came at the window. She looked over and saw an owl with a large letter tied to its leg.

A New Start cont'


Naomi walked over to the window and let the owl. “Its kind of late for the post.” She said to the owl. “Oh wow, I’m talking to an owl.” She nodded her head as she untied the letter from the leg of the owl.
She read the letter slowly as she opened it up, too excited to wait,

Quote:

Ms. Naomi Cambridge We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted into the Auror Academy in order to further you training in becoming an auror. You must pass the 6 months of classes in order to become a registered auror at the Ministry of Magic. You must report to the second floor of the Ministry of Magic on Tuesday June 15th at 8 am for your first class. Please come prepared with your wand, a notebook, quill, ink, and a proper id. Sincerely, Mr. Zacharias Zenders Head of Auror Department

Naomi was almost too excited to stand still. She had to make sure everything was ready for her big day…..TOMORROW!!!!!!!!!
“Oh no,” Naomi said. “I can’t believe it starts TOMORROW!!!!! OHMYGOD!!!!!!!!!!!!”
Naomi scrabbled for her bag and notebook. She shoved a bottle ink in as well as her wallet. She looked at the time, 6:45 pm.
“I need to get some dinner made, take my shower, and get to bed so I can be well rested for tomorrow.” Naomi said out load looking at the owl that had yet to leave. “And there I go talking to an owl again.” She said as she pulled out fixings for dinner.
She quickly made and ate her dinner and took a shower. It was 8:30 when she sat down on her bed and looked at the time and the owl that was still sitting there.
“Ok maybe I was in a little too much of a rush.” She said to the owl who gave a hoot in response. “Are you going to leave or stay her all night? Not that I mind cause I don’t have a pet or a roommate so its kind of lonely.”
The owl flew over to where the letter was sitting and started to peck it with it’s beak. Naomi got up and looked at the letter again. As she re-read the letter, she saw a fine handwritten message at the bottom.

Quote:

Ms. Cambridge, since you are new to the London area and don’t know anyone here please accept my gift of this owl to you to keep for some company. I will see you tomorrow. Ms. Kaitlyn Eastman.

“Ahhh” Naomi said to the owl. “I see, but who is this Ms. Eastman? I guess I will meet her tomorrow I guess.”
Naomi walked back over to her bed and set her alarm. She grabbed the book she was reading and crawled under the covers. “Well since you are now my owl, I think I will name you Isis, cause you are a female right?” The owl made a happy curp in agreement.
“Well then goodnight Isis” Naomi said to the owl and opened her book.







I don’t really like trying to read long posts in fanfics so I will keep it short. I will write more soon I promise.

Most interesting. This story could go many ways. Will she meet Harry or other major canons? How will they react to her not being around for the final battle? Will she fall in love with Draco? (So many fics seem to have that when the main char is a woman.)

Someone to look up to

Naomi woke up the next morning 30 minutes before her alarm was going to go off.
Well there is no point in going back to sleep for 30 minutes. She thought to herself
She quietly got up as to not disturb Isis, who was fast asleep. She changed into her robes and grabbed some cereal. She sat on the bar stool and stared at Isis.

Why would some lady I don’t even know send me a gift as expensive as an owl. Naomi thought to herself.

As she finished her cereal, she got up and walked over to Isis, who had just woken up.
“I’ll leave the window open so you can go out and get some food.” She said. “I will stop in Diagon Ally and pick up a carriage and some owl pellets for you.”

Naomi grabbed her bag and looked at the time. 7:15 am it read. She figured she might as well leave early so she could meet this Kaitlyn Eastman lady. She said goodbye to Isis, locked the door and headed to the guest entrance to the Ministry of Magic. As she entered the entrance hall, she was astonished. The Ministry of Magic in the US was no where near as big as this one and no where near as fancy. She saw all of the Floo Networks and Wizards apparating all around. She walked over to the Secerity desk and got a name tag.

“Could you please tell me where the auror headquarters is?” She asked the man behind the desk.

“2nd floor.” He grunted at her.

Naomi turned around and grabbed the first elevator that was open and pressed the 2 button. A cool voice said “Second floor Auror headquarters.”
She stepped out and walked over to where there was a sign reading AUROR HEADQUARTERS and walked in. She looked at the lady sitting behind the desk and said “Umm is it possible to talk to Ms. Kaitlyn Eastman?”

“That is me,” said the lady behind the desk. “How may I help you?”

“Well my name is Naomi Cambridge and you sent me an owl yesterday….” Naomi started to say but she was soon interrupted by Kaitlyn.

“Oh NAOMI!” she exclaimed. “oh my goodness I didn’t even realize it was you! Come in come in we have a lot to talk about.” Kaitlyn gestured Naomi into an office behind the desk. There was a small sign next to the door that read, Kaitlyn Eastman Undersecretary of Auror Headquarters.

I agree. Sending a stranger an owl is a very significant matter.

Step one on how to make history

Naomi followed Ms. Eastman into her office. "Why did you want to talk to me?" Naomi asked Ms. Eastman.
Ms. Eastman pointed to a chair "Please sit down." She said as she waved her wand and closed the door. "Well when I was reading your resume after Mr. Zander approved you for the auror training school, I read the letter of recommendation one of your teachers wrote. She said how you were such a strong, independent young women and she was sure that one day you would make history. And as you may not know, in the many years that the auror department has been around there has not been a female head of the department there has only been males. And I believe that you can and will be the first."
Naomi looked at Ms. Eastman with astonishment. "But I don't know if I can I mean what about you?" Naomi knew she was an independent person and she was a great leader. But when someone suggested something like this, something this big, she wasn't sure she could do it.
Ms. Eastman smiled at Naomi. "I would do it but I think my time at the department is coming to a close. I was offered the head position of the Wizard Law Enforcement department in Austrillia. Don't worry it wont be for awhile and I will be here to help you. I know you can do this and here is your first chance. Your class starts in about 15 minutes. Go out there and show them what you got."
"Dont worry I will." Naomi said as she waved goodbye. She headed out of the office and down the hall to the classroom. As she walked into the room she looked around. There were not very many people there but she saw two familiar faces; Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. She looked around again and noticed that there were only two chairs open, one next to Harry and one on the other side of the room. As she started to move to the other side of the room, a young man ran, bumped into her, and promptly took the chair across the room. Oh great this is going to be interesting. She thought to herself. She slowly walked over to the empty chair and sat down. As she bent over to take her notebook out of her bag, she heard a voice say, "Hello, my name is Harry Potter. Whats yours?"

A woman has to work twice as hard to be thought half as good.

Which is very unfortunate

Step Two Get to Know Your Partners... and your enemies

Naomi turned around and looked at Harry. "Umm... ahhh... you.... me..... Naomi." She finally got out of her mouth and stuck out her hand. She smiled as he took her hand and shook it.
"Where are you from?" Harry said. "I noticed your accent."
"Oh" Naomi said as she laughed nervously. "Im from the United States, Michigan in fact."
Harry nodded. "oh ok." Harry pointed to Ron. "This is Ron." Ron looked up from the bagel that he was eating and waved.
"Hi Ron" Naomi said.
"Settle down settle down." said a older man who just walked into the room. "My name is Mr. Zacharias Zenders and I am the head of the aurors department. I have an announce to make. I will be retiring at the end of this year and one of you students will become the new understudy which will eventually lead to being the head. Right now Ms. Kaitlyn Eastman will be taking over until she moves to Australia. Now lets get started."

After 4 hours of lecture, Mr. Zenders announced the class was over and walked out of the room. Before anyone could leave the room after him, the boy who ran into Naomi shut the door and stood in front of it with his arms crossed.
"I just wanted you all to know my name because it is going to on the door down the hall and then it will be all over the place as the minister of magic, its Jonathon Leeper. Now see ya suckers!" He said as he walked out the door.
There were rustle as everyone else left. Naomi looked at Harry and Ron and said, "Yeah right, Im going to be the head and there is no one who is going to stand in the way."
"Way to go Naomi!" Harry and ron said and gave her a high five. "Why dont you come out for dinner with us and our friends?"
"You mean ... like Hermione..." Naomi said.
"Well yeah and Neville too." Ron said.
"YES!" Naomi said excitedly as they walked out of the room.
