As an hockey fan and since no thread about this wonderful sport exist here. I thought (Sabs too) that it would be nice to have one here. Some of you can be fan of field hockey and other fan of ice hockey. Both are welcome to be discuss here.
As some of you might already know the last game for this year will be played this Friday. Then will find out if either the Wings are keeping the Stanley Cup or if the Penguins will be the champion.
Got thought about the subject or simply want to talk about the latest news about your hockey team. This is the place to do so.

I love hockey. I'm a devils fan myself. I got into hockey because my friend would invite me to games. About three years ago I actually watched the games and paid attention... thats when I realized that it was the best sport ever. Im only mad I got into the sport so late. I was 17! What a drag...

Nothing is better than go see a match live. The energy there is unlike anything. It's insane. Last time I got ticket I got back with no voice. I was screaming way too much
Seventeen isn't that late. Some find a passion for that sport later than that.

*snuggles Marie*
I got involved with hockey when I was fairly young. We went to local hockey games and I was hooked from game 1. It's an awesome sport, and even more awesome when your team wins
*pokes Marie* I so want to see a live match. I will see a Detroit match one of these days in person - it's just a matter of time.
*clears throat*
Now onto the Red Wings vs. Pens. I am, of course, partial to the Wings; always have been and always will be. The series has been an interesting one thus far; filled with equal victory and disappointment. Personally, I hope that the Wings win the Cup again for a second year victory. Nothing would make me happier. And Pens fans are hoping the same; that was the biggest thing on many Wings/Pens fans' minds - that the two teams get a rematch in the finals.
Both teams have made mistakes in this playoff series; some of which cost them quite dearly. I'm hoping to see a very exciting game on Friday, one that I hope will be a very fair match (I could go into great detail as to why these games have been unfair, but I'll spare you ). And of course one that will lead to a Wings win.

I'm a huge hockey fan haha, I've played goalie plenty of times when I play street hockey with my friends; I'm insane at it but anyways.. I'm an Ottawa Senators and Detroit Red Wings fan, I'm kinda in trouble when those teams play against each other since I dunno who to cheer for but onto my opinion of Game 6 of the Detroit/Pittsburgh series.
I was definately surprised, it was entertaining hockey, full of hits, shot attempts and wicked saves. Now, I was disappointed with the final score because the Penguins were just delaying the Cup presentation to the Red Wings although its going to be much better when they win at home. Fleury had totally improved from Game 5 and Osgood was really good, so many close calls with goals.

My first experience with hockey was because of my brother. He was playing hockey so I was always there watching him play. (even if the game was at 6 in the morning.) The fact that he was very early in the morning never trully bug me. I was having way too much fun watching the game to even think about complaining. After that my first match that I've seen live was Canadian against Nordic. I miss this kind of rivalry. It's nothing like the rivalry that we have now. It was some serious stuff.
*bounces on Sabs head* My dream is to see a live match but during the playoff. I know the ticket are super expensive but I have to see one. Hopefully next year *crosses fingers*
As for the Penguins vs. Red Wings. I've been rooting for the Wings a long time ago. I'm a Montreal Canadian/Detroit Red Wings fans. Of course it's extremely hard when the two teams are facing each other because it's bug me a lots. As for last game I've noticed and a lots of peoples have too that it seems that both team seems to struggle when they aren't playing home. I don't think it's the fact that the crowd are against them. I'm trying to come up with a reason but I'm coming empty *pouts*. So if my theory is right, this Friday the Red Wings will have the Cup. The only downside it's that I won't be able to watch it because I'm working *whines*

I wish I could see a live playoff game but I live in south florida and sadly the panthers haven't made it to the playoffs since the late 90s... lol... I am not partial to any the red wings or the pens. I dislike the red wings for no reason other than the fact that I just never liked them (i'm weird like that) and I don't really like the pens because I don't like sidney crosby (he's just too much of a baby). I do like Malkin though. I love the way he plays... like a machine. He's a fantastic player. So mainly because I want to see Malkin win... I guess I'll root for the pens

Got to support the Home team here since I live like 35 minutes east of Ottawa. I was totally happy back a couple seasons ago when the Sens were in the Cup Finals against the Ducks, now that was an interesting series not as interesting as this one but interesting nonetheless.
It's going to be absolutely insane when the Wings win it at Home tomorrow night! I'll be cheering from my leather recliner in my basement. |

I agree with you up to a point It was exciting with great shot attempts and awesome saves. I just wish that Detroit had been a bit more aggressive with their hits; there weren't many checks during the game for them, though the ones that they did make were quite good.
I think you're right about the Cup presentation. I've been reading many of the articles on the NHL website and it doesn't seem as though the Wings are very concerned about game 7. Confident, they are, but they don't seem over-confident, which is always good. They know they're a great team with lots of experience and they'll definitely use that to their advantage on Friday. They are expensive! But they will so be worth the money, esp. if I can get some for a game in the Joe. How awesome that would be!
I agree. *nods* It seems as though both teams have struggled when on the road, which, if that continues, then Detroit has a most excellent chance to win on Friday.

Of course you would.. I have to give props to Pittsburgh for getting a lot of Red Wings players up on those boards, the hits were clean and hard which is what I like to see. Now, as far as the goalies were, Fleury was unstoppable, making beautiful saves with his stick and blockers and the occasional help of the net itself; Osgood was good but he could have stopped a lot of those rebounded shot attempts.

My first experience with hockey was when I was ... 5 i think? My dad and brother were hooked on the game, always watching on TV and so I had no choice but to watch. I was mesmerized by the way they played and was hooked ever since. I love the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Ottawa senators. why two teams you ask? well, that was the first game I ever saw in real life; when I was 12 dad got me tickets to a game in Toronto and so I went and fell in love even more.
As for Wings/Pens, I so hope the Wings win. They're the underdog here in a way, I mean they're amazingly awesome don't get me wrong but with all the hype of Crosby this and Crosby that the Wings need this. All teams have home play advantage it's just how it works. So of course the pens would win, but that doesn't mean that the Wings don't give up. Oh no they'll win the Cup and everyone will be happy.
i totally play the game as well; ice and field hockey. I once blocked a slap shot from my brother who once played for his high school team and yeah it did hurt. I'm an awesome goalie

LOL. Yes..I'll give them that. I"m just hoping the the Wings were saving their major hits for tonight's game
*nodnods* Agreed; though the Wings should have been in there to stop the rebound attempts in the first place from even reaching Ozzie. Bad breaks, as with any game. Quote:

*high fives you* Though Detroit does have home ice for this game, of course, which is of great advantage; to be in front of your fans in your home arena has got to put a shot of confidence in your skate
We seem to have lots of goalies here! What happened to our forwards and d-men? Quote:

Hmm, not one Pens fan in the mix? I guess I'll represent Pittsburgh.
So, having grown up in Pittsburgh, though I'm not there anymore, I've always been a Pittsburgh fan - obviously. Hockey has always been really huge for me, much more than baseball or football - both of which Pittsburgh also has professional teams. I'm not sure why exactly because though I've been to Pens games, I've also been to Pirates games. I guess hockey is that much more exciting than baseball.
I've loved hockey as long as I can remember, which I'm sure is because of my family. My parents used to go to Pens games before they were married and took my brother and me to games when we were younger... though never to any playoff games.
OMG I can't even begin to tell you how happy I am right now. I'm literally crying... I'm really proud of my Pens for even making it to the playoffs and winning the Stanley Cup is just... incredible. The last time they won was 1992! (yes, I'm old enough to remember )
Unfortunately I missed half of game 7 because of a family thing I had to go to... siiiigh... but at least I got to see the end. A nail-biting last few minutes, right? The Red Wings are an amazing team though and don't tell anyone I said this, but I knew the Pens would have a difficult time beating them and with the last game being away, I was afraid they'd follow the current trend and lose the away game. I'm glad it went to seven games though, makes it more exciting.
But back to hockey in general... I always played right wing in casual games in school. I went to a very small school and we didn't have a team until my last year... and then that was just a couple boys from my school and a few boys from our affliated middle school so I didn't get to participate in that.
I'm also a Canadiens and Sabres fan... don't ask me why, I don't think there's a reason, I've just been for a long time. But the Pens will always be my team.

It's always great to get involved with hockey at a young age; you get to enjoy more of it Family outings to the games are always a blast.
A very intense game, indeed. I have a few opinions about it, which I won't share in here because I really don't want to offend anyone (both teams alike), but I will say that I look forward to another rematch against the Penguins in next year's finals. Detroit will be taking the Cup back.
Oh, great! Glad that we have a winger here! So two goalies and 1 winger and 1 forward *nods*

While I missed the last period due to my mom threatening to take away my pepsi because I was cheering too loud I must congratulate the Pens, they did a great job.

I'm very happy the Penguins won the Stanley Cup this year. I know some will hate me, but I've never been a fan of the Red Wings. (It has something to do with a certain incident of octopus being thrown on the ice and I will leave it at that). The team I root for is the San Jose Sharks. They had one of the best records in the NHL in the regular season but lost in the first round of the playoffs, failing miserably (I'm sure many of you know this). Talk about peaking at the wrong time! I still have hopes they will win the Stanley Cup - one day.
Nice to have this thread here. Hockey is a great sport and I love it!
