| ARFC ** Rickman Discussion Thread Viva Buymoria! Love you Twin!
Hey all. I know we have a chat thread and discussion threads for all things Snape, so here's a thread just to discuss Alan Rickman, the talented [/understatement] artist who plays Snape in the movies.
Every now and then we'll pose some Discussion questions, ok? Question 1 for all who post:
What's your favorite Rickman Role besides Snape?
Mine would have to be the Sheriff of Nottingham in Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves. He was soooo bad. And SOOOOO funny! And sooooo handsome.

Jan - I agree with you 100%, Alan was absolutely astounding in that role and you're right - he was totally handsome!!!! I loved that film mostly because of Alan's performance in it, it's one of my favs.
A runner up film for me would be Die Hard, because Alan was so sinister and evil as Hans Gruber. The man knows evil to a T! But, Sheriff of Nottingham is still #1 to me. (To anyone here who hasn't seen Robin Hood Prince of Thieves, you should most definitely go rent it!)

OH Jan!! I have to agree with you in that his role in Robin Hood was wonderful. It was that voice that drew me towards him. That voice is one of a kind! I thought that role was very cute for him and I like seeing his funny side because he seems to play such serious characters at times.
Speaking of serious character, I have to say that I bought Love Actually because he was in there. Alan is such pure love and the role he plays in this film is not the best of characters but a learning one at that.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Charmelia Snape aka Zaza | I think I´ve only seen him in Galaxy Quest as Alexander Dane. Which is funny, since I think my brother bought that Robin Hood some time ago, but I haven´t still managed to see it. I would love to see that Dogma, but was there something strange about it? I mean that they didn´t release it or something? What a pity, he looks great! But yeah, I´ll have to say Alexander Dane, since I haven´t seen Dogma |

| Ninja Duck Oh my goodness... I dont think I can pick just one... There is so much I love...
I remember loving him in Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves... We watched it in my Legends of King Arthur Class when I was in my Senior year of high school. I can't remember all the specific things I loved right now(I must rewatch it when I have Alan Rickman Movie Night at my apartment) but I will edit them in here when after I rewatch it (high school was a long time ago it seems)
I quite enjoyed him in Dogma as Metaron... It might also be that Dogma is one of my favourite movies *luffs on all movies by Kevin Smith* But I thought he was hilarious. Good Sarcasm. I just really liked him in that flim.
I haven't seen Die Hard yet(I know Im an awful AR fan) But I must see it now after what you said, Linda. *moves AR flims above JI flims in netflix queue*
I saw Love Actually last year at my sisters house. I was like Alan how could you?! *gaspeth* He did a good job at that character for him not being the most likable of men in it...
As you can tell I kind of need an AR film refresh before I acutally try and pick a favourite roll.... I still think after I rewatch them all I wont be able to pick one but I can try.
Alan Rickman Movie Night at Jade's Apartment. You're all invited. I will cook food

Oh, I will have to check out Love Actually! I usually see that kind of film right away, somehow I missed that one. Can't let it go by, especially not with Alan in it!

Alan Rickman Movie Night at Jade's Apartment. You're all invited. I will cook food So Dogma is available. Was it that they didn´t show it in theatres, then, or am I mixing it with some other movie?
Thank you I´ll have either veggie food or fish. Quote:

My favorite role of his? Um, I've only seen him in two other movies Galaxy Quest, where I couldn't stop laughing at him and Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. I didn't even know it was him until someone told me though, I never really paid attention to who was laying what character.
MY favorite line if from Galaxy Quest: "You broke the ship. You broke the bloody ship. " I just thought it was hilarious how he said it.

I still love Alan's quotes as Snape! Remember back in the Philosopher's Stone - "You are here to learn the subtle science and exact art of potionmaking," he began. I don't expect you will really understand the beauty of the softly simmering cauldron with its shimmering fumes, the delicate power of liquids that creep through human veins, bewitching the mind, ensnaring the senses ... I can teach you how to bottle fame, brew glory, even stopper death -- if you aren't as big a bunch of dunderheads as I usually have to teach."

Ok so my first choice of line wasn't SS appropriate either [ ], but I absolutely love this one [Alan being Marvin, in The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy]: Quote:

I so love is performance in Dogma as Metatron. He's just amazing. The way he delivered each lines are just outstanding . I have to admit that I also love the twisted way he play in the prince of thieves and the bad guy he was in Die hard (the first one ). For Die hard, I think the way he fall at the end of the movie, just the expression of his face is priceless.
Go with the quote now XD Quote: Metatron: You people! If it hasn't been made into a movie, it's not worth knowing about, is that it?

I didn't know he was in most of ther movies I've seen him in. I'm just so used to seeing him as the greasy haired Snape that I never realized it was him unti Iheard his voice He's got a unique voice which always lets you know it's him. I always jump up and down now when I hear it in a movie, my mom thinks I'm strange
But yeah I'll always remember him as Snape

It is pretty amazing, his work in both movies and the theater is pretty extensive! I had no idea how many productions he had appeared in, I had seen a few of his films but a lot of these I had never heard of before. It gives us all lots of different movies to check out and see Alan perform in, that's for sure!
