When Tonks arrived back at the pool, the look on Remus' face softened her heart. She silently sat beside him, regarding Sirius and Amelia in the pool with two emotions - amusement and jealousy. Why couldn't she and Remus be the same? And why did she get the feeling that it was all her fault that they couldn't?

Remus was unaware of Tonks sitting beside him for quite some time. When he finally noticed her presence, his eyes became brighter, filled with happiness; and he smiled softly at her. He knew not which words to speak to her.

Tonks could see him struggling for words. She decided to speak.
'I'm....I'm sorry, Remus. I was too hard...I'm just tired, I suppose. And I know it's really no excuse, but please forgive me....I love you, Remus, and I want you to love me too,' she gabbled, feeling a steady flush rise up her cheeks.

Remus' faint smile widened a little. "I already love you, Tonks..." He whispered, a bubble of happiness growing inside him.

Tonks smiled shyly. This was unusual for her, being shy.
'I love you too,' she whispered softly, moving closer again. She loved being close to everyone she was around - she felt more secure, more safe.
Their kiss was warm and sweet.

Remus almost regretted it when they pulled apart. He didn't regret the kiss - he regretted pulling apart. Remus felt his cheeks flushing... Remus hadn't felt shy around anyone since he was a teenager.

ooc - I found the phrase in a book and changed it to my own words! I thought it was sweet too!

Tonks took the oppurtunity to look properly at Remus, who was blushing. She remembered back to her very first kiss, in her first year at Hogwarts. It had been with a second year, Richard Ward. She didn't know why she was remembering her first kiss. They were thrashing around on the library table until Professor Snape came in. Ah yes, the shyness. That had come when Richard had whispered that Severus had only stopped the two because he was jealous. Tonks had burst out laughing, and had always felt very shy around Severus after that. She wondered if he had told Remus.....she drifted off into a daydream.

Amelia caught up to Sirius and started to laugh. " I really love you Sirius." she said giving him a kiss and seeing what his response would be. She hoped he would kiss her more.

Remus watched as Tonks seemed to drift away into a daydream... He stood and walked back to the beach after changing. He lay on the sand and the water lapped at his feet... It wasn't long before he fell asleep.

Tonks came back to Earth with a happy realisation; being mortal enemies meant that Snape would not tell Remus.
Speaking of, he wasn't by her side as he had been before. He had apparently walked off. Tonks lay back by the pool, listening to the gentle lapping of the water. Things were so relaxing.....

Sirius waded out until he was up to his waist and then turned around. He laughed as Amelia hurled herself at him and he kissed her back. "Love you too, babe."

With that, he dived under the water and began to swim.

Remus awoke with a start, covered up to his shoulders with water. He quickly got up, heading back to the pool, hoping to find a spring of fresh water.

Tonks met Remus as he made his way back to the pool. She grinned awkwardly, a pink flush slowly creeping up her cheek.
'Erm...hello. Are you alright?' Tonks asked nervously. She felt much shyer than she did around Severus Snape. She looked around conspiratorialy, wondering if Snape could possibly be on the island. Then, she had a mental image of Severus, lying on a deckchair. He wore shorts and a Hawaiian style t-shirt, and was slapping suntan onto his bare, pasty arms. Tonks just had to burst out laughing.

Remus about to reply, when Tonks starting laughing. "Did I say something?" Remus asked, looking quizzedly amused.

Amelia took after Sirius hoping that he would like her more." I love you hot stuff" she said to her outstanding date.

Tonks was still giggling.
'No, it's not you, it's -'she began, before seeing the image again and falling over, she was laughing so hard.
'Imagine Severus Snape.....in shorts.....and a summer shirt!' she choked, her eyes watering.

Remus looked taken aback for a second, then that image fought it's way into his head; and he started laughing hysterically as well.

The two were now doubled over with laughter. Tonks' sides ached painfully. She finally sobered, wiping tears from her eyes.
'I'm sorry, Rem. I was thinking about my first kiss and all, and then I got to the part where Severus walked in while Richard Head and I were - well, you know, on the table in the library. Then, I just started thinking of Snape on holiday, getting a suntan!' she giggled.

"Severus with a suntan..." Remus grinned. "It'd make him look healthier." Remus looked down at his pale self, frowning slightly.

Tonks saw Remus looking down at his own pale body, before thinking about her own tanned arms and sun-kissed golden freckles, running across her button nose.
'C'mon,' Tonks announced, taking Remus' arm. 'You are going to get a tan, whether you like it or not!'.

Remus smiled. "I've never had a tan in my life... Must be a werewolf trait..." He added thoughtfully.

Tonks grinned back, although it was rather forced. She didn't like Remus talking about his "condition" - it made her feel uncomfortable. Although she wasn't prejudiced, like the Ministry, or afraid, like many Hogwarts parents, she didn't like discussing the werewolf matter.
'Well, meet Nymphadora Tonks - tanner extraordinaire!" she laughed.

Remus looked a little distant for a moment, then smiled back. "When I'm still as pale as I am now, I'll say I told you so." He joked openly, looking hopeful at the thought of getting a tan like normal people... He'd noticed Tonks look a little unnerved when he mentioned casually about him being a werewolf... And this unnereved him. He didn't like it when people acted differently around him... Chose to ignore who and what he was... It'd taken a long time but he'd learnt to except who and what he was.

Tonks realised she had rather upset Remus. She decided to change the subject.
'So, how's about that tan?' she asked, a still-fake grin on her face. She was worried - she didn't want to feel awkward whenever Remus mentioned he was a werewolf, but she did. It got embarrassing and also worrying at times - if Remus had a particularly bad transformation, how would she react?
