He was basically only doing this because he didn't trust Edward so much.

Cameron was confused. Why did he break up with Tat? Weren't they like the hottest couple at school? "Really? Never thought that would happen." She cursed herself silentally as she realized she had said the last part outloud.

Sydney frowned at Ryan's reply, what had happened that made it so private? She was really worried now. "Sure Ry." She said and stood up from her chair. "I'll be right back guys, keep my seat for me will ya Cam?" She said to Cameron, smiling at the other girl. She had a feeling that, hopefully, the two of them would become good friends this year. "Lets go kiddo." Sydney said to Ryan and put her hand on his shoulder.

"Will do Syds," Cameron said as Sydney and Ryan got up and headed to a secluded part of the common room. Wonder why everyone seems to be so secretive? She sighed.

Ryan followed his sister to a corner of the common room. He sighed, knowing he should just get it over with. "Okay Syds." He took a deep breath. "While you were gone, I found a potion book. It had every kind of potion you could imagine. I found this one and made it." He tried hard to keep calm. "It was a posionous potion and I had made just enough to kill myself. Mom found me though and took me to the hospital, which is where I spent most of my time while you were gone. I had just gotten out a couple of days before you got back." He looked up from his hands to see Sydney's reaction.

Sydney stood in shock, her little brother, the person that meant to the most to her in the entire world, had wanted to kill himself?! She licked her lips, trying to get enough moisture back in her mouth to speak. She uttered one word to him. "Why?"

Ryan sighed. He knew this would be how she would react. "I just felt out of place after you left. I always have." He wasn't going to tell her the other reason behind it just yet. That could wait for later.

"Aww Ryan!" Sydney exclaimed and pulled the younger boy into a hug. She felt the tears in her eyes threatening to spill and hugged Ryan tighter. She couldn't believe she'd let him get like this, she couldn't believe her mother had either. At least she had stopped him, it was more than she thought her mother would do for her. She pulled away and looked Ryan in the eyes. "Ry, I'm not going anywhere now ok? Just please promise me you won't even think about anything like that again!" She told him.

"I won't Syds. Don't worry." Ryan mumbled into her shoulder. He really had missed her. He didn't tell her to stop hugging him this time. It was all that was keeping him from crying as well.

Sydney sighed into Ryan's hair, this was the reason she came back. Yeah she needed to sort things out with Tatiana and clear up the whole Edward mess but she was back with her little brother, who needed her and she wasn't going to let any mess with the elite get in the way of her being a good big sister. She pulled away and wiped her eyes before any tears could spill. "Now are you sure there's nothing else you need to tell me Ry? Anyone I need to beat up for you or anything I need to yell at mom for?" She asked him, a slight teasing sound to her voice, but her meaning was serious.

When she pulled away, Ryan made sure he didn't start to tear up. "I'm sure Syds. Mom was pretty nice about it. Aside from the fact that she barely visited me." He remembered sitting in the hospital room by himself for so long.

Sydney scowled at this fact. "I'll write to her about it, infact I might make a trip to the Post Office in Hogsmeade and howler her about it." She said, a dark look coming over her face. She hated how her mother seemed to simply not care, it drove her insane and she hated how it affected Ryan. "Do you want to head back to the common room? Or did you want to go to the Room of Requirement or something?" She asked him, the concern for him evident in her voice. Sydney knew she'd worry about him a lot now, but that was good, it meant she'd keep him close to her. Maybe even find him a nice girl or something!

Ryan chuckled at Sydney's comment about sending their mother a howler. "That would be kind of funny, but totally unnecessary." Ryan sighed trying to figure out what he should do. "Let's just go back to the common room. I'll be fine."

Peyton walked around the corridors thinking, she didn't care that much about how late it was. She behaved well and there weren't much teachers around that area.

Sydney wrapped an arm around Ryan's shoulders and walked them both back into the main part of the common room. She saw that her seat by the fire was still free. "C'mon Ry, if I have to do this whole thing then you're going to be right next to me." She told him and pulled him over to the sofa by the fire. She hated having to do the 'Queen Bee' thing again but she couldn't roll over and let Tatiana take control. She loved the girl but she went too far sometimes, someone could end up hurt, like herself.

"Of course I will Syds." Ryan said sitting down with a big smile on his face. He looked at Cameron. He had a feeling she was going to be around for a while.

Cameron watched as Sydney and Ryan came back over by herself and Edward. "I made sure no one sat here Syds." She motioned to the empty seat next to her.

"Thanks Cam, you're a star." Sydney told the girl honestly. She smiled around the group. "So what's the plans for this year then people?" She asked, excitement in her voice. She was intrigued to see if anything at Hogwarts had changed, except the Queen Bee leadership.

"Nothing really. Been trying to stay under the radar with the whole popularity switch over." Cameron was so far under the radar that barely anyone talked to her. She really needed to stop doing that to herself. "I'm thinking maybe it's time to stop being under the radar though."

Sydney beamed a smile at Cameron at this comment. "Most definitely, being under the radar means you miss the drama but you also miss the fun. We'll get you going to all the parties in no time. I'm sure the Slytherins will be having a welcome back party in the next couple of nights. Hate them as much as you want but they throw killer parties!" She said with a laugh. "And you've got to come too Ry, we'll prove that you're an Underwood partier yet!" She told him and nudged him, giggling.

"I didn't miss the drama at all, but I'll be able to live with it." Cameron giggled at Sydney's comment. "The Slytherins deffinately throw some of the best parties. Of course, ours are still better."

Ryan started to laugh. "Of course Syds." He never really was a partier, but he really wanted to be around his sister. Plus, maybe it would do him some good to hang out with other people.

Sydney's eyes lit up at Cameron's comment that Gryffindors threw better parties. She squealed suddenly. "Oh my gosh Cam you've just inspired me! Why wait for the Slytherins to throw the matadory welcome back party? We'll throw one! Tomorrow." She said, grinning happily. She loved planning parties and things, Tatiana was better at the finer details than her but the general ambiance of the party was usually down to Sydney. She stifled back a sigh at the thought that this would be the first Gryffindor party that she hadn't planned with Tatiana.

"That's a great idea! And we'll make sure it's bigger and better than anything the Slytherin's have ever thrown!" Cameron loved parties. Most people didn't expect her to be the kind of person that did. She was so excited she couldn't wait to start planning.

Edward shrugged, lounging back in the armchair he was sitting in and feeling no guilt in lying to everybody about who broke up with who. Would it really matter if he starting dating Sydney anyway? It just wasn't working out. I have my interests elsewhere.... His brown eyes lingered on Sydney for the smallest fraction of a second before he shrugged again and smiled at Cameron.

"Right," Cameron said to Edward. She had noticed his glance at Sydney. That had to be the reason him and Tatiana broke up. Cameron wasn't going to assume anything though. She was going to wait for Sydney to tell her what happened. Plus, she had forgotten about her conversation with Edward before Sydney and Ryan had come back over. She was so excited about the party.

Sydney grinned at Cameron's excitement. "Ok so we need to get the food and music sorted, that won't be too hard. Then it's just setting up and sorting out the entrance and guestlist. Oh we'll have to get the invites out as soon as possible! Don't want people RSVPing to a Slytherin party if they know a Gryffindor party is happening!" She exclaimed, her head buzzing with ideas. She was really excited about this party now, so much that she didn't even see Edward's glance at her. If she had she probably would have scowled at him but she didn't have time for Edward and his weird fascination with her. She had a party to plan!

Tatiana wasn't saying much to Alex, as she was happy for the company. She wasn't going to press the situation on the whole 'Tatiana or Sydney' decision. As they were walking the corridors though, Tatiana accidentally bumped into Peyton. "Hey, sorry about that..." She said a bit dazed like her body was there, but her mind was in another dimension, because if Tatiana was herself, she wouldn't have apologized.

Edward's eyes lit up as he quickly looked at Sydney, a massive grin upon his handsome face. We're having a party? Awesome!! He grinned and sat up, rubbing his hands together slightly with a grin in his eyes, as well.
