"Hey," Sirius replied "Yeah, I guess," he said, trying to keep his voice neutral. He watched as she settled her stuff down and sat next to him. Can't be too bad he thought happily. Potions may be fun even with Malfoy around.

Sensing the ackwardness as well, Sirius was glad when the subject was changed to quidditch. "Most defiantly we will have to win. " he replied smiling. "Slytherin doesn't even have a chance!"

Anna read the note and her eyes widened. She scribbled a note back furiously.
But, I thought you hated Potter? She tossed it to Lily and jumped into the conversation again. "yep! Gryffindor is going to whoop the other teams butts. I'm not sure, but I think I'm beater.... McGonagall hasn't told me yet, though I asked for it."

Sirius' eyes met Allison's as she turned around but didn't look away until Anthea's comment. "Sorry dear Anthea, you seem to be outnumbered in the votes department," he replied jokingly so there wouldn't be any hard feelings. "How about we let Ravenclaw be a very close second."

Severus overheard the talk about quidditch and discretely rolled his eyes. Do I get a vote, he thought sacastically.

Peter said shrilly, "I agree with Sirius! Gryffindor will win!" Then quietly to himself he added, "Even I know that."

Joanna Havens swallowed the remnants of her pumpkin juice and raced to Potions class. It wasn't exactly Ravenclaw behavior to be late to class on the first day, but she wasn't exactly herself at the moment, either. She had had a dream about her brother the night before, and it completely messed up her morning. As often as she tried not to think about her brother, he kept coming up.

Joanna shook the thought of him out her mind for now as she zipped into the classroom and looked quickly at the pairs list. She was with Patricia.Not bad, she thought. She passed Lily and Molly and gave them a small smile as she joined Patricia at her seat.

"Hi," she said all out of breath.

"Could you help me maybe a bit Molly? Potions isn't my best subject?" Arthur asked. He felt embarressed as he didn't like asking but he felt he had to. He prayed as he waited for Molly's answer.

Molly smiled and patted Arthur's arm, "Of course I can dear!" she said sweetly.

"Hey Joanna" Lily smiled as she passed by her. She looked over at Allison and Sirius and sighed. "I'm bored" she announced not too loudly, but loud enough for everyone around the vacinity of that one table could hear. "Hey Patricia, or Sirius, either of you know if James was planning a prank...wait, he wouldn't do a Prank without Sirius..." Lily said and shrugged her shoulder her sentence died off in the middle of her thought...

Sirius smirked and answered mischieviously, "Why, are you worried Jamesepoo will get into trouble?" He had noticed that Lily had started to call his best friend more commonly by his first name and fiqured it had to do with what happened over the summer.

Anthea flipped to the right page and remembered that she had seen it made before. "I've seen this potion done before. My grandmother made it for my grandfather the night he died. He was suffering from something and she thought it would be better to go in his sleep which he did." She cleared her throat, "I believe the ingrediants are asphodel in an infusion of wormwood, valerian roots and sopophorus bean." What was intresting was she wasn't looking at the book..she could remember the ingrediants from memory. She did remember something her grandmother did..she didn't use a book but did it differently at least she thought so.

She got the ingrediants after noticing they weren't on the table. Thea smiled glad she got him to say something. She placed the items on the table and sat back down. She didn't like to talk about her grandparents that much. She remembered very little about her grandparents other then when she was very little her grandmother would let her watch her make potions. She also remembered her grandfather suffering from she guess was a really bad curse. Her parents didn't like to talk about it.

"Oh nothing, dear Lily," Sirius replied. "Just being my usual self." Not wanting her to push any further just yet, he returned to working with Allison on the potion.

George found himself unawaredly gazing at Anna's blond hair as she listened to the conversation.

Anna turned to Lily. Hey, can I hang out with you at lunch and or dinner?

Lily furrowed her eyebrows slightly putting a mental note down to interrogate well more so to question Sirius later on. She knew something was up, he knew something and she wanted to know what it was. Still she began to prepare the ingredients and prepare her work station, and not too quickly at that she wasn't going for speed--no she was trying to work hard and make a strong potion.

"Both if you want," Lily smiled snapping out of her thoughts. She smiled softly and looked at the table if looking at something could start a fire, the table would be set aflame.
