"What subject?" Edward asked, his voice laced with innocence and fake-obliviousness.

Olivia grinned. "Really?" she asked. "That's..that's just..so..." she said, but couldn't think of the right words, so she stopped. "Jacob, you are the only person that has made me this happy in my life."

Joanna's hand left his. "Edward." She said in an emotionless tone. "You know exactly what I'm talking about."

Jacob looked down at the first part of her sentence, but looked up at the second. "You have no idea how much that means to me."

"I'm trying to see if I can keep from reading your mind," Edward chuckled. "It's not working very well," he added. "Okay, okay. Just say what's on your mind first, okay? We'll talk about it."

Olivia looked at him and smiled. She leaned against his arm and kissed the skin there. "You don't know how much I mean it," she whispered.

Sighing Joanna nodded,"As you know, we have to talk about me being completely changed. I've done - research. I won't lose my magical abilities, those would be like me special power. I have no reason to stay half human. You know that." She said calmly.

Jacob smiled and then froze. "Sometimes having good hearing isn't fun. D'you want to know what Joanna and Edward are talking about, It may include you somewhat. You being her friend and all.

Edward closed his eyes and nodded. "Yes, I know," he said, opening them. "You want to be changed fully." He said, pain in his voice. He didn't like the sound of that, but she was right. Kind of. "And?"

"What do you mean? What are they talking about?" Olivia asked curiously.

Joanna put her hands on her lap, clasped together,"I would like you to do it." She said quietly.

Jacob watched the road,"Joanna wants to be changed fully. To a leech. Sorry."

Edward gripped the steering wheel. "Me?" he said, his voice strained. That wasn't the first time someone told him that. "I..I don't think I could do that again."

"But..But, Jake...you told me you wanted...nevermind," she said, looking at him with wide, green eyes. "Will Edward do it?"

Joanna nodded,"I'm just as strong as you Edward, I could help you stop. But I - Don't trust anyone else but you." She said quietly.

Jacob shrugged,"I thought that you would like to know because she's your best friend. I don't think he will though. He doesn't want to do it again."

"Joanna. I can't do that. I can't rob you of what little humanity you have," Edward admitted, looking at her and then back on the road, his eyes holding the Edward-angst he was famous for.

"Yes, I want to know, Jake." Olivia said. "I don't really know what to think about that, though." she admitted. "Since she has something to live forever for."

Joanna watched him intently, and then said quietly,"I can be killed easier than you can. I'm in twice if not more danger than you. If I have to, I'll get Carlisle or someone, but you can't just keep me in a fragile state because of your beliefs."

Jacob's face twisted up as he kept telling Olivia the conversation,"He is saying no, but she is really hitting him below the belt on some of this .. I don't think anyone ever won over Edward besides Alice, and that's only because she could see the future." He said, his eyes glanced quickly over to her and then back forward.

Edward glanced at her. She had some good points. But...he didn't think he had the strength anymore. He hated to admit it, but he lost a lot of will when Bella died. He was gaining some of it back, because of Joanna, and some he didn't think he'd ever get back. "I...I'll think about it, okay?" he said. More of 'I'll talk to Alice' thing. He sighed. "I don't know if I can do it," he added.

"Oh," Olivia said quietly, looking at the car in front of them. She wished she could hear the conversation, but she guessed that was why Jacob was here. "Is he going to?" she asked. Edward was a very confusing boy to her. Just because he said no didn't mean he wasn't going to do it; he liked to come up with compromises.

Joanna nodded sincerly,"That's all I ask." She whispered, taking his hand once more.

Jacob listened intently and completed the conversation,"He said he'd think about it, they are done talking." He said, slightly confused, Edward wouldn't give in would he? Twisting his mouth up, he wished, for once, that he could do what Edward did, read minds.

Edward pursed his lips and sped up, realizing Jacob was right behind him. He looked straight ahead, wondering what was next in their life.

Olivia bit her lip. "What will happen now?" she asked, looking behind them and in front, at Edward's car. They were traveling at a speed that was actually scaring her. She closed her eyes, waiting on Jacob's reply.

Joanna squeezed Edward's hand and looked on, knowing full well that something was bound to happen sooner or later.

Jacob smiled over to her,"I have no clue, you okay? You look a bit pale."

"Oh, we...we're just going a bit faster than I'm used to," Olivia said, gripping her seat belt buckle with one hand. "I-I'll be fine," she added. Her stomach churned as she said it.
