Oulette got up. "Fine Ms. Danielle. I only came to see if you were alright. You are only puching me away." he said barely over a whisper. He returned to his spot at hte head of the boat. Steering he watched DAni a expression of guilt on his face.

Artemis looked up and saw the captain barking orders again. "He's back" she muttered as she turned and started working on the ship. "Wonder if he heard my thoughts" she muttered. It seemed as though as soon as she thought he was going soft he began to get strict again. SHe shrugged and got to work again. She didnt want to get yelled at. She wasnt as defiant as Dani she was just a quiet defiant.

Out of her peripheral vision Christian spotted Sintra, standing alone, looking irritated. His hands halted for a moment, but he wasn't about to call her over. If she was determined to be anti-social, that was her own choice. He was getting tired of trying to keep peace among the crew.

There was a loud crashing noise from below deck when a pile of dishes fell over. Chris stared at them for a moment, torn. He could have this place cleaned very quickly. Did he want to risk it?

His eyes darted to the door, then back to the dishes. It was decided. Chris pushed the table over in front of the door, so no one would walk in on him. He reached into his boot, not containing a dagger, and pulled out a long piece of wood. His wand. He looked towards the door once more before pointing it at the dishes, and cleaning them all off.

Dani was amost unaware of her aching hands, her knees hurt far worse. More correctly, her right knee hurt worse. She was almost beginning to fear she'd cracked it. Almost, but not quite. She was much too distracted to truly care.

What she didn't know was that there was already a good sized blister in the middle of her hand. The brush, were she to remove it from the deck, would be stuck with it's bristles smashed out to the sides. But she didn't. She kept scrubbing, and tried to force the tears back.

ooc: Yeah, she was right by Chris, but he has two sides, and he left the deck. He's working so he doesn't get in trouble.

The Captain looked as Dani scrubbed. He could see she was in pain. He looked elsewhere knowing that she didnt want his help. She was.. hurt if he would say. He looked around. The door to the kitchen was closed. It was never closed. Jumping down from the frotn of the ship the captain went to the kitchens. He grabbed the knob and turned. Opening the door he saw an astonishing sight. "Christain?" he asked looking around as plates and knives.... washed themselves??

When the door opened, a stack of plates crashed to the ground. Christian winced at the sound. This is why you never do it! He told himself, not managing to get his wand put away before Captain Ouellette was standing in the room with him. Chris turned around, with a look on his face like a child with his hand caught in a cookie jar.

“Yes sir?” Chris asked warily, not sure which path this would take. “I’d appreciate it if you chose to come in or out. I’m not sure an audience would be a good idea...” He muttered. The crew would react badly to this knowledge. He thought of Sintra’s disgusted tone when she talked about Hermione...

When the captain disappeared below deck, Danielle took the opportunity to examine her knee. She fell down onto her hip, and put her legs out in front of her. The left leg did it with ease. The right, however, was having a hard time bending.

“Ugh.” She moaned, as much out of irritation as pain. This wasn’t good...Dani had always felt she had to do more than the rest of the crew. She was youngest. She had to earn her keep...maybe she could do the cooking till It healed. Maybe Captain Ouellette would leave her in town...

The captina closed the door and walked over to Christain. He peered at the dishes. "Something you forgot to tell me ?" he asked out of curiousity.

"Well I didn't forget exactly. I haven't told anyone since I left Australia. People aren't exactly understanding about it are they?" He asked shrugging, stuffing his wand back into his boot carefully. "I only ever use it when there is something that I can't do by myself...I've used it to find some stuff before...when we were in a hurry." He explained, thinking of that last storm they were in.

Sighing heavily, Dani carefully moved back into her cleaning position. She was careful to keep all her weight on her left leg, to let her right hang there, trying to look as natural as possible...it wasn't easy, but she was confident she'd done an ok job at it...

Artemis turned as the captain walked downstairs after the crash. "uh oh Christians in trouble." she muttered. She looked around. She was slowly turning invisible she swears. She looked around at least no one knows my one true secret or maybe I should say two. She shook her head and kept working. At least I'll get to see Will in Tortuga..hope we have a nice long stay. she thought.

Sintra sank to the floor. Trying to absorb what she just saw. Chris--a person who just said he didn't believe in magic--did magic right before her eyes. She of course could have done the same. You would have to go to your room first she reminded herself.
"I don't believe it," she said in a hushed tone.
She saw Artemis and went to her and asked, "Did you know he could do that?"

Artemis shrugged and walked downstairs to her quarters and opened her trunk. After digging deep into the bottom and sliding the hidden panel she pushed something around and pulled out a picture. "Oh Will.." she muttered. SHe looked and grabbed another piece of paper and opened it to see the drawing.

Dani sighed, and dropped the brush into the bucket in front of her. Her palms ached. She didn't need to look to know there was a blister...

"So...I'm alright?" He asked hesitantly, feeling somewhat better that the man before him seemed to be so ok with this. If truth be told Christian always found it hard to see Captain Ouellette as his superior and not an equal...he seemed to be about the same age...

Artemis pout her pictures away quickyl and walked back upstairs. She saw Dani on the deck in pain. "Uh Dani do you need help. Are you ok? Anything I can do to help?" she asked kindly she was trying to be useful.

When she heard Artemis behind her, Dani was busy glaring at her knee. By the look she gave it, it would seem she blamed the joint for hunger, war, and probably the hole in the ozone layer. She turned around, setting the look loose on Artemis. For a moment, she kept glaring, wanting to snap at anyone who dared talk to her. It only took a moment for that facade to crumble.

"I...I hurt my knee." She explained, not bothering to mention her hands, which were balled into fists, and were on the deck, keeping her upright. She didn't feel it necessary to explain she needed a new brush too...that could come later. "I...I can't bend it." To be more correct...it could bend, it just hurt a lot. It was a stupid injury...she should have been more careful. She shouldn't have let him get to her.

Artemis looked down on Dani. "Oh stop the anger with me" she said crossing her arms. She looked at her. "Do you want me to help you to your sling. Or what can I do to help?" she asked as she got down on her knee and looked at Dani.

The Captain shrugged. He hoped on the counter and crossed his arms. "Ok so this is between you and me." he said cocking an eyebrow at him. "Tell anyone and Ill kill you with my own hands." he said he wasnt lying either. He looked away from Christain. "So like 3 years ago when I was 22 I fell in love with this girl in Tortuga. She was the most amazing girl. She made me go soft though. And when I left I missed her but there was one thing she told me that I will never forget." he looked back at Christain. "She told me she was a witch. Of course I didnt believe in them so she got made and showed me a little trick. I shouldnt have been so frightened. yea I know me... frightened? Well people not like me frighten me. So she ran off and I never saw her again." he un crossed his knees and jumped on the floor. "Tell anyone and Ill kill you, I swear." he said

"Aye-aye Cap'n." Christian responded with a grin. "Though..." He hesitated, not sure it was his place to say...not sure how David Ouellette would respond to it. A more serious look crossed his face.

"I don't think going soft is such a bad thing. I don't think, even if you allowed yourself to care for someone, you'd let this ship go too much. You've trained us well. We know our job. You can care for someone, and still keep your crew in line." Christian muttered, half afraid he'd be attacked.

"It...it can get awful lonely at the top can't it?" He added hesitantly, arms folded across his chest, eyes watching the captain uncertainly.

The glare returned, though a softened version of it. Artemis wasn't responsible for world hunger, or war...just that ozone thing. Dani seriously considered several rude responses. Such as, 'You can stop being a condecending witch for a moment and be human', but decided against it.

"Nothing." She responded through gritted teeth. "I was just resting for a moment." She sat as she was for a moment, her eyes warily fixed on her knee. She heaved a sigh, pulled out the brush, then braced herself against the pain. Dani returned to her old position, weight centered on her left knee. Her right was out to the side slightly, so she put no weight on it, her hands were holding her up, one clutching the mangled brush.

David looked at Christan. He was uncertain to let himself talk about himself to another member of the crew. Finally deciding he would he untensed as to say. "Yes being at the top can be quite lonely. I do think that some of the crew is awfully scared of me. Then they talk about me dont they?" he asked. Knowing the snwer to the question.

"I think fear is too strong a word...they...they respect you." Christian responded honestly. "No one dares treat you as an equal. They are afraid of getting in trouble." He stated, thinking of Dani.

He knew she was willing to push the buttons of anyone but the Captain. She feared losing her place on the ship. He knew she felt like she couldn't be a child, she had to be the best. She had to be worth something. It had always bothered him. He saw Dani much like a little sister, she reminded him of his own little sister...they were nothing alike. Their lives had been nothing alike.

"I only say something because having someone, even if you only do think of them as family...it helps make life a little less dark. It's nice to know you have someone." He mumbled. Of course, he'd always wanted more...but...even with that, he wasn't alone. He liked having someone to talk to.

Captain nodded. "Point taken." he looked back at the dishes doing themselves. "Well best be going back to work. Going to check on the rest of the crew." he walked to the door. "I suggest you better do that by hand." he said pointing to the dishes.

Walking outisde back tot he deck he noticed the wind had picked up. Tortuga wasnt that far away ne more and they were much closer there then to shore. Noticing Dani and Artemis on the ground he walked over. "Everything alrighthere?" he asked looking to Artemis first then to Dani.

"Just doing my job Captain." Dani responded, her voice strained slightly. She refused to look up at him, refused to let him get to her. "Is there something I can do for you?" She added, her voice calm, and without expression.

It was then, that she found a problem. She pushed the bucket backwards, then slid herself, in a rather unatural fashion, in order to free up more deck space to scrub.
