"Maybe." Sirius mused, shrugging his shoulders. Rolling his eyes at Remus's fuss, he spat, "You're fine." He went off, making his way through the waters like a shark on a mission. "Besides," he called back. "you sort of deserved it, you know. You can only go too far. And you know that." By then his tone wasn't fun and laughter anymore. He was stern and almost dark. "And no, i wasn't trying to kill you. I didn't even hold you under. I was messing around. You have better reflexes then that."

Swimming away, leaving Nicnevin to care for Remus who was acting like a whiny child, he dove under, holding his breath for seconds on end. His body was numb by that point and it took him awhile to reach the surface again. When his lungs filled with air fully again, he went back under, swimming underwater. He felt like being alone at the moment, not feeling the need to be around people who irked him the wrong way. His anigmus form was serious, not something to laugh at. And to think.. that only reason he had the form was to help Remus out..

Or maybe it was the cold water getting to his head he was acting with such a short temper..

Nicnevin rolled her eyes as Sirius swam away. Someone was sure uptight this evening; perhaps his latest love interest had gotten bored with him and run off with some Ravenclaw.
She turned back to Remus and nudged her shoulder in the sulky swimming form of Padfoot. "It's his time of the month this time," She said grinning. Nic and Sirius often referred to Remus's transformations as his time of the month, a joke they had aquired around that age.
She giggled, covering her mouth with a small delicate hand.

Remus stared at Sirius incredulously. What was his problem? "Oh, I deserved it, did I?" he spat back angrily, "and why is that? 'Cause I hurt your ego? Well trust me, you've got enough of it to last you a lot more than a few jokes."
Why the heck were they both behaving like this. Like animals fighting over a...Oh, right. Remus shifted his eyes to Nicnevin, suddenly feeling a bit embarrased. "Yeah," he muttered, "Time of the month."
Lupin was no longer very cold, or perhaps, he was simply mostly numb, one of the two. He watched Sirius's shimmering form as his friend swam around under the water, wondering what was wrong with the two of them.

Nic's expression instantly became confused. She and Remus used to always joke about everyone.. what was with those two tonight?
Nic raised one eyebrow, and watched Remus. "Are you okay?" She asked, unsure of how to interpret his actions.
She wished they were in a hot tub instead, so it would be a relief for her to touch him, just to lay a comforting hand on his forearm... Or perhaps if her curse didn't exist... that would be nice too.
Nic sighed and shrugged her shoulders. "He'll be fine in a few minutes, just let him swim it off..."

Moony's eyes studied Nicnevin's face, drinking it her expression. He shook his head like a dog, spraying drops of water everywhere. "I just..." he said, "Yeah. Fine."
Remus was confused. He wanted to talk to Sirius, make it better, but at the same time, he kind of still wanted to punch Padfoot in the face.
He laid forward, floating on his stomach, staring down at the bottom of the lake. When he could no longer take the lack of oxygen, Remus flipped over onto his back and looked at the stars instead.
"Somehow," Moony said softly to Nicnevin, "I'm not so sure."

Nic kept her feet slowly beating the water underneath her. Nic always found treading water to strange, it never made much sense to her. She didn't exactly get tired, but she found the movement awkward...
Nicnevin watched Remus' anxious behaviour, and yet again stared at her white hands, hoping that a cure could be found and she could be relieved of her burden...
She watched him flip over, and sighed at his obvious discomfort to his fight with Sirius.
She shook her head lamely, and placed a hand on his arm, ignoring the added cold he would recieve.
"Trust me," She nearly whispered, "It will."

Sirius was now floating on his back, the latest scene playing through his mind like a broken record. Why did I snap like that on him? Animal surge? Cold? Or maybe I hide my feelings inside too much...

As his thoughts seized him, he felt himself yawn and came back to reality. He was looking up at the stars. Cursing softly to himself, he went back to swimming around, doing a breath-stroke and gliding through the water. He was going further out, towards the middle, then to the side, then closer back, then further back out again. Starting to swim in circles, he got bored with himself and swam back to shore, sitting in the water on the sandy bottom, though he was still under water. He knew if he were to approach Remus, he'd mostly likely be knocked into next year.

Remus turned his head, submerging one of his ears in the water, to face Nicnevin. He nearly jumped as her icy hand touched his skin. "I guess. Perhaps. Maybe if I'm lucky," he mumbled, accidently allowing water into his mouth as he spoke.
Spitting out the water, he glanced over at Sirius's form on the other side of the lake. Remus knew he ouht to talk to him, but what was there to say?

Nic turned to watch Sirius, then turned back to Remus, her eyebrows knitted together in worry. She sighed then shrugged.
"Want me to go talk to him?" She asked, trying to maintain eyecontact, and ignoring his jump to her cool hands. "Or at least drag him over here?"
Remus and Sirius never fought, that was probably one of the reasons why Nic was so worried. They were inseperable... all four of them. She didn't like the idea of anything falling apart.

Remus eyed Nicnenvin, considering her words with care. he liked how helpful she was trying to be. It made him smile at her kindness.
"No, don't drag him," he said, looking over at Padfoot again. Remus thought that dragging would just make things worse. "But perhaps you could talk to him," he added softly, his light brown eyes boring into Nicnevin's.

Nicnevin smiled at Remus kindly, "I'll be right back," She said, then winked. She swam towards Sirius, and dove under so that she emerged right infront of him.
At first she just swam there, staring at him. She figured it would be best for him to say something before she did, she didn't know why, but she felt like that was the way it should be.
She continued to stare at him, and absentmindedly tucked a strand of silvery blonde hair behind her ear. She smiled at him, hoping he would relax a bit.

Sirius had been playing, absentmindedly, with the sand underneath him. Grabbing handfulls from underneath the water, then watching it dissove as he let it go. He didn't for one moment think that either one of them would approach him for awhile and was surprised when Nicnevin showed up right infront of him.

Slowly looking up, his black hair sopping wet and his bangs sticking to his forehead partially covering his eyes, he tilted his head slightly at her form. He stared back for a moment, looking into the eyes of a friend and vampire curiously. "Hmph?" Was all he grunted as she just was infront of him, not saying anything and staring at him. It was making him uncomfortable, and he shifted were he sat in the water.

"Come on Paddy," She said, not moving her eyes from his. "Don't be ridiculous."
Nic relaxed her legs so that she could touch the bottom of the lake, but found that where she was standing it was too deep for her to do so. Her head went under, and se resurfaced sputtering. Nic swam a bit closer to Sirius and stood on her toes so that she wouldn't have to kick...

Remus attempted to smile at Nicnevin as she left. He mostly failed. "Thanks, Nic," he said as she swam away.
Moony watched anxiously as Nicnevin appeared in front of Sirius, somewhat surprised by her lack of words.
When the two did begin speaking, Remus's concerned eyes flew between Nicnevin and Sirius, as though watching a tennis match.

Sirius reached out and pulled Nicnevin closer to him so she would be standing on her feet. Flat. "What do you mean?" He asked when he was sure she was settled. His look was of innocence, as if he didn't do anything, though in the back of his mind he knew better. It seemed it was just the way he was.

Nic felt a shiver run up her spine as Sirius pulled her towards him. She smiled her thanks, and grounded her feet so that the waves wouldn't pull her away.
She raised one eyebrow at his innocence. "He's one of your best friend's," She said, keeping eye contact with him. "What's gotten into the two of you?"
Nic ran her hands up her own arms, and placed them over where Sirius had touched her. In the exact spot where his hands had lay, her skin was a few degree's warmer, and she would swear possibly a shade more pink.

Remus's eyes narrowed when Sirius pulled Nicnevin closer, and she touched the spot where Padfoot's hand had been with her pale little fingers. He was certain that, had she been properly human, she would have blushed. He didn't want to her to blush at things like that, especially with Padfoot. That would just be...wrong.
Remus was attempting to read their lips, though it was difficult, as he could only see the side of their faces.

alright. I was beginning to wonder what had happened to the others.

Sirius stared back at Nicnevin intently as if trying to read her. "Nothing's wrong. It's not unusual for us to bicker every now-and-then." He finally said slowly, taking a chancing glance over at Remus, sighing some.

As he awaited her response, he shrugged his shoulder's defeatedly and gave her the look of 'What-do-you-want-me-to-do-about-it?'.

(Ha. I think they forgot about us.)

Nic blinked slowly, watching Sirius intently. "Yeah but, not like this," She said. Nic lowered her head and examined her fingernails which she had just begun to pick. "I don't know," She whispered, as she pulled at a loose piece of skin. "I just hate it when you fight."
She looked back up him, waiting for his answer.

"Right." Sirius replied firmly. "But I'm not just going to go over there and apologize and everything will be okay-dory or whatnot." His hands dug into the sand beneath him and he knew he would not apologize no matter what. Not over something stupid. It just wasn't him.

"He'll get over it. I'm over it. It'll be alright." He then told her, hoping it would help solve matters a bit better.

Nic bit her lip and continued to pick at her fingernails while he spoke. She sighed, then looked back up at him. "Then why are you over here?" She asked, fighting back the contradictory smile.
She didn't really get what was going on with the two guys tonight, normally they got along so well; with very few and minor bickerings. She shook her head then glaced at ther elbow.
She didn't want to look at him, knowing his answer could go two ways - frightening and mad, or silly and joking.

Remus's eyes flickered between the two, able to make out only a few of the words spoken. He stopped treading, and allowed himself to sink beneath the surface. Due to his fight with Sirius, Remus had forgotten about being cold, which was nice. He almost felt warm, but not quite. He floated back up to the surface and observed the conversation before him.
He saw Sirius glance at him and Remus tried - and failed - to figure out what the look meant. Perhaps it was the dim light that hid the meaning, and perhaps Remus did not want to know how Sirius felt. What if it was hatred?

"Because it's bloody cold out here!" He suddenly said staring at her and trying to hide a smile. If he reassured her he was okay, she might go back to Remus and maybe nag him under the same circumstances too.

"And I really don't know which is better right now. Staying out of the water, or staying in it. Bloody vampire." Rolling his eyes, he finally broke a smile, grinning. He was only teasing her of course, and he watched for a reaction. Reaching up, he ran his fingers through his now cold and stiff hair, staring at her.
