Sitting next to where Lydia was making her announcement, Archer smirked to himself, thinking vaguely that, since he had written the book that would be used in Defense Against the Dark Arts class, it wouldn't be so bad that they were making him teach something as daft as Charms. He crossed his fingers across his lap until Lydia was finished and slowly began to add bits of this and that to the plate in front of him. It wasn't in his nature to speak during dinner, but he listened to the conversation around him, an old, paranoid habit from years prior.

Jade was glad, in a way, to see Theo abandon his argument and change this subject. He clearly didn't have much else to say to her. She settled herself back into her own seat as Professor Bennet began to speak, her mouth falling open ever wider with each addition to the news. "B-b-but..." she said under her breath, crest-fallen when she learned of the restriction of all books whose authors were not from the Ministry. Ever a bookworm, Jade read for fun and even wrote books, herself. She wondered vaguely whether they would confiscate her notebooks with the scraps of writing she had done. She certainly wouldn't put it past them, that was for sure.

Theo turned as he was hit with jell-o, and spotted Alice. He could either be the bigger, more mature person....what was he thinking? To let them get away with it. Instead he grinned, and pulled his wand from his pocket. It stayed half hidden by the table, but was aimed at a plate full of food. "Wingardium Leviosa," he muttered under his breath, and the plate lifted into the air, it paused over the Slytherin table and slowly tipped...

Jade looked on in horror as two of the tables started a food fight and crossed her fingers, hoping that the fight didn't spread to the Gryffindor table. Just in case, she grasped her wand within her robes and prepared to throw up a Shield Charm at any second, not in any mood to incur the wrath of any of the Ministerial teachers, but not willing to let herself be pelted with stray food.

Archer raised his eyebrows as he saw the makings of a foodfight beginning, but thought to himself vaguely, What am I, a babysitter? He made no move to stop the fight and, instead, waited for Lydia to decide if there were going to be punishments dealt to the participator or, even better, for all students whether they participated or not. He had no problem with organizing punishments, but it wasn't really in his nature to step in and stop the act that would cause someone to have to be punished. It was more fun to let them get themselves into trouble, so he continued eating and pretended not to notice.

"Let them continue," Lydia muttered, not looking at the students and barely moving her lips, answering a question that was not spoken. "They'll get what is coming to them."
