"It's a challenge but I think that'll make him work even harder to win." Tristan commented to Bryan about Shane just as Shane jumped in the water, effectively soaking the boy. He quickly got his wand and performed a drying charm on them and the surrounding area. He saw Leslee wave back and call out to him, he beckoned her over to join them. "Hey yourself. Come sit!"

Tristan laughed as both Rachel and Cassidy asked if they were having fun. "Most definitely, sunshine, music, food, drink and beautiful girls, what more could any guy want?" He told them with wink. "And what about yourselves?"

"Hope you ladies are doing alright," nodded Bryan at the girls. Although he wasn't at all a flirt like Shane, that didn't at all mean he wouldn't show interest in beautiful girls like the ones standing before him and in the lake. They were all very pretty.

The grin remained upon Leslee's pale features as she stood up and headed over to the group that Tristan was with. She sat down beside him, allowing the grin to become more of a normal smile as she took in everybody that was there.

Leslee's smile widened as she heard Bryan's voice and immediately turned her head toward it. Seeing him a short ways away, she flashed him a brilliant smile, most of it done with her eyes, before turning back to her group, happy as ever.

Tristan lent over and nudged Leslee. "You ok?" He asked to the smiling but quiet girl. He grabbed a frozen chocolate frog to eat with his Butterbeer. Frozen chocolate frogs really were really good!

"I'm good now," Cassidy said with a wink and sat down beside Bryan, with a smile. Cassidy grinned happily and picked up a chocolate frog.

"Oi," said Shane as he felt a sudden weight on his back and knew it was Carr. The shock of the sudden extra weight made him go under but he quickly resurfaced. "Oh, is this how you want to do things?" he asked.

Cassidy laughed watching Shane, "you're right. This sure is going to be interesting." She said grinning at Bryan.

Gathering a little momentum by spinning in a full circle, Carr sent an entire wave of lake water directly at Shane's face and said, "No, this was how you wanted to do things, remember? You threw me into a lake after I told you I can't swim," she said, but she was grinning.

"Who needs to know how to swim?" replied Shane. "Just tread water and you won't drown." He then put on his charming smile. "And don't worry, if you do, I'll be sure to save you like the hero I know you know I am." He seemed to ignore the fact that she had just splashed him and swam over to her putting an arm around her shoulders lightly.

"I'm always right," replied Bryan to Cassidy rolling his eyes. He had yet to be wrong about these sort of things and knew he never would be.

Leslee turned to Tristan still smiling, but allowing puzzlement to appear on her face, as well. I'm fine, why? Everybody keeps asking me that. She frown slightly. She was quiet, yes, but that wasn't new for her. Being thought of as mopey was.

When Shane put his arm around Carr's shoulders, he interrupted her treading rhythm and she went underwater for a second before resurfacing. She coughed a couple of times and said, "That's about the equivalent of the dragon saving the damsel."

She took a deep breath and submersed herself under the water. Swimming below water wasn't nearly as difficult as trying to swim on it. A few kicks brought her to the edge of the lake and she pulled herself out. She pulled her wand out of one of her shoes that were still safely dry and conjured a blanket on the grass near the water. She rung the water out of her shirt and tied it in a knot at her waste before lying down on the blanket and letting the sun bake the rest of the water from her.

"Oy, Bryan," she called. "Toss me a butterbeer," she requested, even though she was so cold from the lake that her teeth were chattering together.

"You sure about that request?" laughed Bryan upon hearing her teeth chatter. But he took a butterbeer from the basket that Tristan and brought and threw it over to where Carr lay. "Anything you would like to request, m'dear?" he asked. "A chocolate frog perhaps to go with that butterbeer?"

"You're no fun," sighed Shane as Carr climbed out. He took hoisted himself out of the lake and shook his hair causing water droplets to go flying about once again. "And I can teacher you how to swim you know. That's how I got these muscles." He grinned flexing his arms. "Swimming makes for great exercise. And it's a useful skill to know too."

Tristan laughed at Shane and Carr's antics the water before turning back to Leslee. "Just being polite, haven't spoken to you in a while and thought I'd see how you're doing." He told her honestly, Tristan liked spending time with Leslee she had a calm attitude and he found it really relaxing.

Carr caught the bottle that came flying through the air toward her and stopped her chattering teeth long enough to pop the cap with them. Again, she slipped the cap into her pocket and took a swig.

She rolled her eyes at Shane and said, "I am a l-lot of fun, for your information and I am s-so not into your muscles like every other s-swooning girlie you've ever m-managed to snag. And, somehow, I think teaching m-me to swim might just be a new chance for you to p-palm me," she said past her vibrating teeth.

"Oh, Merlin," he said hearing her teeth. "You sound awful." He then took his shirt and handed it to her. "It's been in the sun so you can wrap yourself up in it or use it as a towel. It should be nice and warm. I don't want you cold like that. When you talk, the chattering of your teeth sounds awful." He sighed waiting for her to take his shirt.

Carr reached for Shane's shirt and, her freezing body moving in jerky movements, snatched it from his hands with more force than she'd intended. She laughed at herself as she wrapped the shirt tightly around her shoulders and said, "Whoops. Thanks."

Mostly out of a strange curiosity, Carr grabbed a fistful of Shane's shirt and sniffed it. "Hey!" she said. "You smell really good. Points for Shane."

Shane blinked rather surprised by the comment. Not that he tried to smell good but he did shower. Carr said that almost as if she expected him to smell like dung. "What? Am I supposed to have hideous body odor or something that you sound so shock that I actually shower and make myself smell decent?" he asked her still absorbing her comment. Not that it offended him but she needn't be so surprised.

Carr couldn't help the giggle that escaped her as Shane spoke. She shook her head and said, "I know what soap smells like, Shane, and it's not a shower smell. It's..." She knit her eyebrows for a moment, took another good sniff of his shirt, and said, "Well, I guess it's just you. Kudos to you for having a pleasant aroma," she said rather bluntly, lying back on her blanket with his shirt draped over her arms, keeping her quite warm.

"Oh, okay," nodded Shane grinning. "I'm glad you like my musty, man odor then. Thank you, love." He then watched her for a moment or two. "So, since you're not going to swim, I say we get back to getting to know each other. Asking each more questions. Are you up for it?"

Carr grinned, but didn't move or open her eyes as she lay in the sun, drying out and getting warmer. She pulled the shirt tighter around her as a breeze washed over her and said, "Sure, but you need to be more creative. So far, during our conversation, you haven't been nearly charming or flirty enough to even begin to earn a kiss. You probably don't realize it, but you've been gal-pal chatting with me." She laughed from her chest at that thought.

"Gal pal chatting?" repeated Shane. "What in the hell is that supposed to mean? And what sort of questions do you want me to ask? Merlin, you're hard to please, aren't you? Why can't you just be simple and like what I am offering you? I'm only the most wanted guy here so I don't see what more you could possibly want."

Carr listened to Shane's complaints and couldn't believe that he just didn't get it. They were talking like they were friends, not like he was trying to pursue her. The closest he'd gotten to actually flirting with her was when he'd tossed her in the lake and once again when he'd put his arm around her. Now, he was just irritating her with his arrogance and cluelessness.

"You know how to pick up chicks," she said to him, "but you don't know how to get a girl."

She snorted and stood up on her blanket. She grabbed her shoes, donned her fedora, and walked over to Shane. She draped his shirt over one of his shoulders and, walking back to the castle, said, "This is going to be easier than I thought."

"Oh, no you don't," said Shane immediately getting up. His shirt was still draped over his shoulder and he didn't both to put it on. He followed Carr. "You think you can win but remember, this is only the first day. I have an entire week to convince I'm a great guy and that you secretly want me. Don't put your guard down."

Carr stopped when Shane followed her and listened to what he had to say with a blank expression. "You sound very confident in yourself," she said seriously, and it was a compliment whether he took it that way or not. "But I don't need you to convince me that you're a great guy. Great guys are swarming all over this school. You need to convince me you're real. So far," she said with a shrug, "I haven't need to put my guard up."

She paused and took a long look at him, chewing on her bottom lip thoughtfully. "It'll be hard," she said finally, "because I'm the girl, so I pretty much call the shots... But I have to give you a fighting chance, just to be fair," she finished. "So I guess we have to go on a date. Think you can handle that, Musclebound?" she asked with a grin.

"A date?" he replied as if this concept was foreign to him. "Alright," he replied. "We'll go on a date. When and where?" he asked her. "Or would you like me to call the shots? It's up to you really." After all, she was the one that he had to impress.
