Samantha bit her lip to keep a retort from slipping out and glanced at Seth. How in the world can someone so nice and sensitive be friends with an egotistical jerk? she thought as she looked around the group. They, at least the girls, looked as she felt. The girls would definitely have to stick together on this trip.

She studied Jaeke and then turned to Lori, leading her out of earshot of everyone else. "I was expecting to come on this trip and have a good time, not put up with idiots like him. Do you realize though, that he's threatened us but has never actually done anything? Methinks he's full of hot air." she giggled.

Jaeke shrugged. "Because it does say I am. Look," he paused, then took out the scrap of paper, scribbled the translation, then thrusted it at everyone. "See. If you want, go ask one of the Egyptians." He stopped, then listened to what Seth said. Jaeke knew he was hinting that he should be more nicer, but.. ah.. fine. He'll try.

He glanced over at Samantha, then raised an eyebrow. "You know I can hear you, you stu-.. um.. Samantha," Jaeke called over to her, then added, "Hint. The wind blows every word to everyone else."

He glanced over at the Egyptain that he talked to before, then nodded, glancing back at everyone. "Okay, follow me then," he announced, starting to walk away.

Samantha turned from Lori and smirked. "Good." she answered, walking back toward the group, specifically Teresa. She gave her a smile and glanced around at the others, the hot wind blowing her hair wildly around her face. Reaching into her pocket, she removed a scrunchie and pulled her hair up into a ponytail.

Jaeke stopped, then turned towards everyone. "Okay. Gather water, extra clothes.. flashlights.. anything else and come back here," he said, still a bit bossy, but trying to tone down a bit. With that, he disappeared in his own tent.

He came out with a small backpack, and was drinking some water already. He stopped under the shade of the tent, then shielded his eyes from the burning sun. He paused, leaning on his heels, waiting for the others.

Samantha stifled a laugh when she saw Teresa's impression. She walked into her tent and grabbed some bottles of water, flashlight with batteries, and other essentials. Glancing around to make sure she didn't forget anything important, she slipped her arms through her backpack and made her way back outside, excitment coursing through her as she wondered where their first stop would be.

Samantha turned and smiled. "Hi, Tess. I'm Samantha. You can call me Samantha or Sam. I don't have a preference." she said cheerfully..well as cheerfully as she could considering that she was still a bit angry. "I see that you feel the same as I do judging by your impression of Jaeke." she grinned.

Samantha laughed at her response. "I suppose you're right. I'm normally such a mild-mannered person, but there's just something about him that gets under my skin, you know? He seems to be behaving a bit better since Seth talked to him. Hopefully Seth will keep his promise and we won't have too many more arguments for the rest of the trip."

Jaeke, of course, could hear everything the girl's said. The tent wasn't that thick, and really, the wind DID carry everyting people said. Normally, Jaeke didn't care what people thought of him, or what they said about him - since they were usually jealous and the girls were all over him. But this time.. well, not like he'd admit it, but he did feel a bit hurt. Who knows why.

He opened the girl's tent doors, then leaned against the pole that held it in the ground. His eyes had a sudden dullness set into them, as he stared at them blankly. "Almost finished?" He asked them, with his voice expressionless. He shook his head, then closed the tent, going back over to the shade and waiting again.

Samantha nodded in agreement. "Quite strange. I've heard that opposites attract, but..." she trailed off watching as other people emerged from their tents and gave Jaeke a quick nod to answer his question. "I guess we're about to leave. Got everything?" she asked with a smile. It was great that she was making friends so easily. Hopefully she would have a chance to meet the other girls soon.

'Yeah I'm done' Teresa nodded. She bit her lip. Maybe I shouldn't say that. He probably has got good things, everyone has... he just doesn't want to show them, that's all she thought to herself. She looked up and smiled at Sam like if she hadn't thought that. 'Let's go, then' she said and walked outside.

She started looking at the landscape and walking not sure to where she was going. Everything was so beautiful there. Even though there weren't many plants like at her home, the trees she missed so much, somehow she felt good there. She just wished it wasn't as hot as it was. Suddenly she walked against someone and noticed it was none other than Jaeke. Her face showed a shade of red, but not much. 'I'm terribly sorry! I didn't mean to' she tried to apologize. She knew he wasn't going to let her go just like that without saying something mien but she had to say something. She wasn't someone who'd ignore it.

Samantha walked with Tess, looking around at the sights, wondering if she would have time to get a few pictures before they left. She then heard Tess cry out an apology. Turning, she winced as she realized that Tess had walked into Jaeke. She inched a bit closer just in case.

Jaeke glanced down, staring at Teresa. He opened his mouth to say an insult back to her, but with a quick glance at Seth, he looked away and inched away. "Whatever," he grumbled, tugging on his bag.

He shot a glance at Samantha, then too, looked away. "Is everyone ready?" He asked, looking around. "We need to inspect the pyramids we're supposed to explore."

Teresa felt quite surprised that he hadn't shouted at her or something like that but somehow she felt sad for having no answer but that little word who meant nothing. She walked to Samantha whispering things to herself in her home language. That guy was certainly not going to change soon, definetly not. She had never met anyone who was as cold as he was and she had never wanted to.

ooc: gotta go kids! Don't do any mess while I'm gone

Samantha shot a look of surprise at Terersa. Hmm, maybe he deserves a chance after all she mused But it's too early to tell. she thought hastily, following Teresa who was muttering something under her breath.

Jaeke fiddled with his fingers, as he looked around. "What is taking everyone so long?" He asked outloud, before shrugging and walking towards the open desert, where you could see a tall shape outlined in the distance. He didn't glance back at everyone, but kept walking, taking out a notebook and glancing down at it, mumbling to himself.

Jaeke paused, as this.. this.. WENCH came up to him and demanded his name. He studied her, then raised an eyebrow. How dare she talk to him like that? Who was she, anyway? And why is she standing in his way? He flicked his gaze at the pyramid in the distance, then retorted, "Who'm I? You're the one who came up to ME and demanded MY name. Just who do you think you are?" He side-stepped her, then pushed her back as he passed her with his shoulder. "Now get outa my way, wench, before you get hurt."

Samantha abruptly stopped as a girl marched up to their group. She watched as she demanded Jaeke's name and bit back a grin. Apparently, this girl doesn't know who she's messing with...but it should be entertaining to watch she thought as she glanced around the group for their reactions.
