We are taking applications for Council Offices, so please e-mail Lissy and Jan at SSsnapeFC@gmail.com if you're interested in any position on the club council. Here are few questions we'd like you to answer for us in your application:

1. What are Snape's hair and eye colors?
2. What are some descriptions of his appearence that JKR uses? What animal does she compare him to at times?
3. What are the meanings of Snape's various names? What is the cruel nickname given to him by the Marauders? The title he gave himself, as seen in book 6? Other names he was called in the series?
4. From what we know of Snape's early family life - in what way would you feel his childhood shaped his personality now?
5. In what way has the bullying by the Marauder's at school shaped how Snape treats Harry? Did Snape bring some of that teasing on himself?
6. Did the events in Deathly Hallows confirm, go against or change your feelings about Snape?
7. What do you feel was the most important revellation about him in the Prince's Tale in Deathly Hallows?
8. What is your favorite Snape quote and why?
9. What would make you a good officer for the Severus Snape Fan Club?
10. What kind of activities would you like to plan?

CURRENT ACTIVITIES


I’m sure you all know the popular Snape is My Man game, but are you aware that there is also the Snape´s Hangman, Snape by the Sentence (which desperately needs to be completed, come see what fantastic ending you can come up with for this little adventure!) and last but not least The Gothic Hippie Prince Potion where you can add your ingredients to the Potion currently brewing or - if you´re lucky - at 1's and 0's, even be Snape and give assignments to the students or even take points from them! Don't be shy; losing house points has never been this much fun. There is no game like this anywhere else, come join us and have some fun! You might be surprised what you come up with!

Our Sponsors have been sending out the Snapey-Spies (yes, that's their official designation) to find worthy victims for their random tags of Snapey-ness. If you're an active Snapist, you could be the next on the list to receive a custom user title from the SSFC. Wouldn't you love to be recognized for your devotion? Hah. The Dark Lord Himself would count himself lucky to have fans as great as the ones our Sev has! Right??


SEVERE DISCUSSIONS


We're all mourning our favorite Potions Master in the Mourning Thread, but this month we've also been talking about Severus Snape and the Deathly Hallows. Some highlights:

Squibby's 1st post (Topic provided by Presidents Squibby and Drusilla Black): Discuss the Book from Snape's or a Snape fan's point of view. How did it feel? Did you think there wasn´t enough of Snape in the book? Did you really think he had turned his back on Order and was being the Dark Lord´s loyal servant to the end? Did you never lose faith and just knew he was Dumbledore's man all this time? What about The Prince's Tale?

DeaD SniTcH: I actually started believing that he's with Voldemort... But then...then came "The Prince's Tale" which cleared things out... It came as a shock to me the fact that he loved Lily... And that was the saddest part in the whole book... His love for Lily...

Taxus: About Snape's death

Snape was a real Slytherin and the way he died makes somehow sense. I'm not quite sure yet what somehow implies, but...

It was the house of Slytherin which gave him both, troubles and an identity. His whole life seems to be influenced by the silver snake. Why shouldn't his death look like a snake as well?

The scene reminded me of Laokoon, who has been killed by snakes sent by Athena. Well, Snape wasn't protecting his son, but Dumbledore told him to inform Harry as soon as Voldemort wont send Nagini away anymore. Snape was the person who knew. Maybe that is a bit farfetched, I know.

Certainly he was someone who could have helped Harry (like Sirius and Dumbledore) and that's why he had to die. The book is called "Harry Potter" after all, and everything and everyone who could have stopped Harry becoming a "whole", grown-up person, had to be removed.

A new fan club has been founded inside SSFC. The man behind our Man, the voice behind the shmexy side of Severus, Alan Rickman has got a fan club of his own situated in the SSFC's Spinner's End forum.

The club includes discussing Alan and his other movies, Alan news and such. What is your favourite Alan quote? What is your favourite Alan character excluding Snape? Come visit with us, you are going to be so surprised at all the work Alan has made. Harry Potter is just the tip of the iceberg, he’s been in enough films to keep you watching for days and days! Not to mention all the plays he’s appeared in.

We also need all the help our members are able to give to complete the Alan biography the club is working on. Please come give us a hand!

Jan started us off with a great activity, finding audio and video clips of Alan on various parts of the web. The contest ends September 12, though, so hurry and get looking for those clips! This will provide a fun resource for all those who want to delve in and learn as much as we can about Alan (and who doesn’t?) Here is just one of the great clips we have, I know it won’t be enough so come join in the fun and find lots more!

Change to Chat Threads in the Fan Forums

You may be a aware that the chat threads in, not only our fan club, but the others too, are slowing changing their name. They are not going to be "Chat" threads, but "Discussion" threads from now on.
There are other places on Snitch Seeker dedicated to letting you hang loose and chatter with other members and staff on the forum. This as you probably already know is The TP. Therefore we would like no pointless spam in the Discussion threads, but a place to talk about the very character or actor you are supporting.

Here's the official new rule about chat and discussion threads, effective immediately.

New Discussion/Chat Rules:

The purpose for the new rules is to let everyone know what is allowed and what is not. The chat threads in the fan clubs will be changed, if not already, to Discussion threads. The purpose of this is to discuss different things going on with the character/actor, since the fan club is after all about that character/actor. Chatting is still allowed but to a minimum. As long as everyone posts about their favorite character/actor, they can also talk to their friends.’

Presidents have the right to delete a post that does not contain something pertaining to the discussion at hand. So if you see your post was deleted, it was because the rules were not followed.

Minimum chatting is allowed as long as rules are followed. We, the Fan Club Mods, did not want to take it out completely, but it can be removed if rules are broken. Please keep this in mind for those who are asking why this is happening, or why are we doing this. Fan clubs are joined because members like those characters/actors, not to chat with everyone about nothing dealing with the fan club.

SNAPENight

As most of you probably know, SnitchSeeker is proud to present a brand new and exciting chatroom with all kinds of wonderful features including an Uno Club, a Dueling Club, an area for RPG addicts, and a channel for special events. One of those special events is going to be a night devoted exclusively to us, the fans of Snape and Alan Rickman! (For REALZ! Keep reading!) This will be an all out chatroom party for Snape and Rickman fans, and everyone is invited!

What is Snape’s Patronus?

If you know the answer to this question, then join us for SNAPENight! The SSFC & ARFC will host this Fan Club Party in the #Special Events channel of the SS Chatroom with games, more trivia, Live Potterwatch broadcast (with song requests, games and shout-outs), LIVE "Snape by the Sentence" and lots more fun!

We have yet to pick a date because your officers have been so busy, but we're looking for some Snapely Volunteers to help make this party possible. If you are familiar with our chatroom (or any IRC chat) and want to help us host the party by helping moderate games and hand out virtual snacks and prizes, please PM evlpez ASAP!

To help promote the chat party, keep your eyes open and you might come across a SNAPENight banner first posted by evlpez. If you find it, post it somewhere else and then announce in the Hide & Seek Thread in Spinner’s End to tell us where you found it and that you’ve hidden it again for others to find. Discussions are the backbone of all fan clubs, and of course we have some great ones going on! For starters, how about this topic; He didn't die! Read what one of our newest members, BABYFAYCETM, had to say about this subject -

Maybe he would've finally gotten that DADA permanently. He wouldn't have to be the potions master anymore. I think that Harry, Ron, Hermione, and him would've gotten along much better after that. They wouldn't have been trying to knock each other down all the time.

To make your opinions known about these topics or any of the other fantastic topics we have at the club, just come visit and make your voice heard!

GAMES

We have four very awesome games going on in Spinner's End right now.
First, there is the very popular Snape is My Man Game where you actually can have Snape as your man every fifth post (you can't beat that!) Next we have a very unique game, which is the Gothic Hippie Prince Potion. In this game you get a chance to play Snape on the first of each 10 posts and suggest a potion for the students to make (it can be anything, feel free to get as creative as you wish!) On posts 2-9 you play a student and contribute an ingredient of your choice to this potion, and on post 10 you once again play Snape and grade the students on their performance (the fun part is subtracting points rather than adding them!) Snape by the Sentence is an actual FanFic in progress and you can help writing it. Come be a part of our story, only you can determine how it all ends up! Lastly, drop in for a bit of Snape's Hangman, a game which has been quite active but now seems to be lagging a bit. Let's get it going again, guys, we know everyone loves hangman!

Welcome Nikki, (RiddleMeThis) who has come on board as our new Games officer. She'll be maintaining the games threads now.

We're saying goodbye to Kaz, who has resigned the games office, and to Mathi and Bee, who have been in Graphics most recently. That said, we're currently still looking for a graphics officer or two (both clubs have vacancies).

Our graphics officer(s) would be maintaining photobucket accounts on behalf of the club(s), maintaining graphics threads, adding members' artwork to our club photobucket accounts and hosting/running any graphics competitions. S/he would also make graphics for events & activities, newsletters/threads, club graphics for our members to use if they wish, and make prizes for contests.

So if you think you're the person for the job, please send us an application. Let us know why you should be the new graphics officer and please include links to any threads you own in Madam Malkin's.
