Thanks everyone for being patient as we experience "growing pains" from the upgrade. I know there are features being turned on and off and that it can be confusing, but the admin team is working hard to try get up to speed on all the new changes. The upgrade occurred much quicker than we thought it would!

So, with that in mind, I wanted to let you know that we've added a new FAQ item: What are the rules for Albums? which explains what limitations there are on albums. These limitations cannot actually be broken, but it's always nice to know what you should be able to do.

Also, we've disabled the friending option for now. This option compromises our commitment to internet safety. We don't want our members posting things that are "Friends Only" thinking that will make it safe or feeling pressured into accepting someone as a friend who really isn't (I know I felt horrible "rejecting" people, myself).

Finally, we have temporarily disabled Social Groups until we have come up with a policy and guidelines for them. Stay tuned for more info.

We'll try to let you know when/if more changes occur and thank you once again for your patience!

I'm super glad that the friending thing is gone! I know who my friends are and I don't need snitchbook to remind me

Glad to see albums sticking around, those are cute!

Hopefully this can also help take away that odious "snitchbook" label, too. When vBulletin 3.7 came out Facebook was only just becoming popular. It wouldn't have seemed so copy-catish if we'd upgraded then.

We jumped two major release points with this upgrade which is why there are so many changes so fast. Normally we would have given more of a heads up and been more prepared but the technical side of things went much more smoothly and quickly than we anticipated.

lulz. I was on another vbulletin site and we had all the "facebook stuff" on there before I knew facebook even existed o.O so when SS upgraded I didn't even make the connection

I kind of liked it being such a surprise and all. :] In the morning, before worked, I checked on SS, went off to work, came back and I was like, "18 PMs? WOT?!" And then I realized, 18 NOTIFICATIONS, and I noticed the little site notices at the top.

So, MAYBE, according to this brief history, FACEBOOK copied vBulletin. ;] Bahaha.

Either way... it still amused me, their similarities. xD

Gosh I love you guys. I'm over age and all but I'm so glad that I can feel safe here on the site AND also that our younger members can be protected incase there are not so friendly folk out there.

And it was funny how you added people as friends when the update came, but I never did that on the older version

tho...it was a cool feature xD

Agrees with Maxie too. Don't take away the WALL. I love it. It's a lovely way to interact with people without having to go through the pm system.. And so much faster.

Thanks for the update! I didn't know we had albums until now. Do they upload to the gallery too? And what type of photos are allowed - HP related or personal photos or graphics, etc?

I like not having the friend option. As much as I love my friends, I hate the pressure of "approving" them. And the number is misleading...I keep thinking they're PMs. XD

Does this mean SS is getting rid of the watch option? Because I love it - that little + sign is especially helpful when someone changes their name.
