It's been a while since I've done one of these and since we decided to play hide and seek with you yesterday I thought I should let you know about some changes we've made, among other things.
First of all, I want thank everyone for your well wishes at the birth of my daughter. As you can guess, things have been pretty busy and stressful with a just turned two year old and a newborn so, I haven't been around as much. However, that doesn't mean I don't still love all of you and can't help you out if you need it so feel free to continue PMing me with any site issues you might encounter.
And speaking of site issues (doesn't there always seem to be
something going on LOL), we're having some problems with SS email so for the past couple months or so no one has been receiving email notifications of any kind. I sincerely apologize for this problem and encourage you to check in your
user cp for a quick rundown of new posts in your subscribed threads and any new PMs you may have received since your last visit. Brand new PMs and posts (I think from the last day or login) can be found on the main CP page however, they don't reliably show up there so be sure to click on 'List Subscriptions' and 'List Messages' to check for new posts and PMs.
Another thing that has happened in the six months since my last update is the favorite smilies thing stopped working. It's still installed and enabled but, for some reason it just doesn't work. So, you may have noticed a few months ago that the featured smilies (the ones in the box next to where you post) have been changing every once in a while. This is something I came up with to sort of feature some of our smilies but, I haven't been changing them as frequently as I intended. So, I'm sorry about that.
If you have a request for smilies to add or to feature in the box, just let me know and I'll do my best to accomodate you. The only stipulation I have in regards to the featured smilies is that they be about the same size as this
one because we don't want to distort the box with big smilies.
And now on to the exciting stuff!!
Thanks to the brilliance of
Ozzy, our FanFic moderators have decided to make it incredibly simple for us to read straight through finished fics without having to scroll through hundreds of comments (unless you want to, of course). This is a work in progress however, once it is completed you will be able to access each FanFic chapter post via the first post of the FanFic you are reading (click
here for an example). The moderators have already started in on the project but, FanFic writers with finished fics are highly encouraged to help out by indexing their own fics (check out the
Announcement for more information).
Next up, is those changes I was talking about in the beginning of this update. In honor of Spring Cleaning (for those of us in the upper hemisphere) and an effort to clean up the forums a bit, we did a bit of rearranging of the forums. We hid some of them away on you and now you have to seek them out. Just kidding! Here's a list of the changes and where you can find your favorite forums:
The Hog's Head is now home to our SS special members only forums:
St. Mungo's (lovingly known as The TP) The SS Book Club The Shrieking Shack Restricted Section (15+) FanFics can now be found in the FanFiction forum,
Grimmauld Place (FanFics & FanWorks).
Salazar’s Lair (15+) advanced RolePlay forum cannow be found in the Role Play forum,
Knockturn Alley (RPG).
And last but, most certainly not least, is SnitchSeeker’s contribution to the July Madness! *fangirl squeals* Everyone should head on over to check out the new
Deathly Hallows forum where you will find some pretty cool stuff (if I do say so myself) that we need help from the members with.
We’ve put together a little
Theory-a-thon for book 7 theories. But, instead of trying to tell you about it, I’ll quote our lovely Forums Manager:

New to the Deathly Hallows forum is
Plan Your Potter Party which will ultimately house resources for planning a Potter Party. To explain what this is about and what is required from YOU *points finger* I will quote our lovely Gallery Admin:

All posts in this forum are moderated, so you won't see any of the ideas just yet. But we will compile all your recipes, games & decoration ideas into a huge downloadable resource in early July.
You can submit as many recipes/games/decorations as you like, but please just make sure it is safe and do-able (ie no recipes for "cockroach clusters" involving real cockroaches mmkay? eeeeeww XD).
Recipes/ideas from other sites/books/people etc are welcome as well, but please make sure you link to the original creator of the recipe or idea.
So what are you waiting for? Submit away & make sure you check back in July to read all of the awesome recipes & ideas!

Are you going insane over the number of links, yet? I know that’s quite a bit to swallow all at once and if you’re actually still reading right now you get a cookie (just mention the secret code “tee hee” in your response post
) Feel free to also post questions, comments, etc or send me a PM if you'd rather remain annonymous. I will attempt to answer everyone as quickly as the kids will allow me (anyone who can guess how long this post took me to write gets an extra special prize
)
UPDATE: I will be updating the top menus to reflect the forum changes shortly.
