SnitchSeeker spotlight review: Harry Potter Artefact Box

In this week's Warner Bros Shop spotlight review, we'll be looking at the Harry Potter Artefact Box, which features a document only those who have purchased it, and a few lucky people at Leavesden Studios, had have the chance to see.

The Harry Potter Artefact Box naturally contains documents that are close to Harry's heart, or hold some kind of significance in his life. Naturally, his Hogwarts acceptance letter is one of them (with the list of ingredients and McGonagall's signatures at the end), the full list of Dumbledore's Army started by Hermione (with Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson's signatures as their fictional counterparts), and oddly enough Sirius Black's wanted poster from Prisoner of Azkaban.

A few nifty items are in there, like a metallic Hogwarts Express luggage tag, which can be used for any piece of luggage - even those that unfortunately won't be able to go to Hogwarts. A rather lovely hologram-like photograph of the original Order of the Phoenix, given to Harry by Sirius in the fifth movie (though of course by Moody in the book), is in the box itself. When moved from side to side it gives the appearance that Order members, including Lily and James Potter, are moving and waving back at their son, which is of course a sentimental item for Harry and fans.

The final item, one that fans of the series will recall HAD NOT been featured in the movies, is a sweet and somber piece. It is, as the photo above shows, the majority of the letter Lily Potter wrote to Sirius, which Harry found while perusing through Grimmauld Place in the beginning of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. The letter is word-for-word the letter she wrote to Sirius to thank him for the present sent to Harry on his first birthday (the broomstick) and her worries about Wormtail.

Adorned with Lily's personal penmanship and letterhead, it allowed Harry to get a proper glimpse into his mother's life, something he had never had the chance to cherish. Photos were released from Deathly Hallows: Part 1 of what looked like Harry and Hermione reading a piece of parchment in an unknown room in Grimmauld Place, and from this, it is presumed that the scene was originally shot, but never made the final cut or deleted scenes. A tragedy fans never got to see such a tender and sad moment in Harry's life on-screen, but at least a bit reassuring that it was near that final cut.

For the letter alone - a rarity - the artefact box is a truly great gift for fans of Harry and his family.
The Harry Potter Artefact Box can be purchased at the Warner Bros Shop today.
