Default The Book Nook

Welcome to the Book Nook!

Think of this thread as a sort of… feedback area, but cosier.

What can be discussed in this thread?
  • Talk about your reading progress and goals, and encourage others in theirs!
  • Books that you are currently reading/hoping to read this year.
  • Discuss any reading challenges you're participating in.
  • You can let someone know that you loved their book review or recommendation.
  • You can pitch ideas for discussions to see whether others are interested.
Things to note:
  • Although there are many things members can discuss in this thread, it is NOT strictly a chat thread. If you want to chat, you can do that in the Forbidden Forest or privately via VM or PM.
  • Alternatively, you could always start a discussion if you have enough to say on a particular book related topic, and want to have an in-depth conversation about it.
  • No spoilers or sensitive topics should be discussed here.
  • Posts that are off-topic or contain spoilers or sensitive content will be deleted.

Any issues or queries should be sent to Harron Peasley or natekka via PM.

So, historical pieces?
I actually enjoy biographies/autobiographies. For instance, I have been reading about a close friend of President Lincoln recount his experiences as a friend and colleague.

I like histories. True Crime. Deep dives into super interesting topics. I'm finding lots of interesting and very random stuff.

I just picked it up.
It starts off with an interesting detail that I am intrigued to see if it holds any relevance later.

So here's a question for discussion that came up when I was chatting with Ali/Bazinga today: what's a movie adaptation of a book that just absolutely failed, in your opinion? Any adaptations that are grrrrr-eat?

I like this question a lot !!! and would be very curious to know your thoughts on it, Ern!!

As for myself.. 13 Reasons why, not a movie adaptation, but a tv series adaptation. I was very unhappy with. If i even begin to try and explain why i think my blood will start boiling lol

But I really liked the way Perks of Being a Wallflower was brought from page to screen. Though I still prefer the book, I think the movie also captured the beauty of the story within it's own, unique way.

I'm not always super picking about having to stay strictly to the story or keeping every single moment in. I guess the most important thing for me (the one that determines whether or not I like the adaptation) is the question of 'does it make me FEEL the same way'?
