Do all the stories have to be connected with each other and have the same plot or they can be absolutely random?
|
Each story must focus on your character(s), either as the main character or the focus of someone else, but the drabbles do not need to be connected in any way. In fact, you could write one in Draco's first year, one in his seventh year on the run, and one in the future... just to start

.

I have a question too sorry. Um am I allowed to use some of the Slytherin characters listed above? Like Draco and Pansy or is it just the ones that aren't listed and would it be bad if I linked them to people from other houses and so on...and
Yes I have a lot of questions
Can I talk about ex-Slytherins as well...as in their memories from when they were in Slytherin?
Like maybe Bella remembering how she met Rodolphus or Narcissa yelling at Avery? Is it Slytherin all over no time limit or is it just Slytherin Harry's years.
|
You should see that some of the groups DO overlap. For example, you could claim Harry or Ginny, or you could claim Harry/Ginny. That goes for your example as well. Any person past, present, or future that was in Slytherin can be used for a drabble. You could even use Slytherin himself, I suppose. As for people in other houses, you may use them, but the FOCUS must remain the Slytherins. Yes?

We don't have to wait for two weeks before posting the next drabble, right?
|
No way! You can totally post all 100 today... and I would be massively impressed if you did! The two weeks is just to let people know our expectation before we let someone else have a chance at their character. No fair hogging if you aren't playing.

Do they have to be while they are in Hogwarts or can he be, like...5 and it takes place at the Weasley house with the twins and all that jazz?
|
Oooh... I just answered that one. You can post at any time in the timeline. Make stuff up if you have to.

Ah I get it so its like if I'm using Daphne Greengrass she could think about a person outside the house but it has to be HER thats thinking right it can't be like a Hufflepuff?
|
You can be as creative as you like, but the FOCUS of the story... the main character... must be the character you claimed. I could play Crookshanks following Hermione all day, but it should essentially still be about Hermione.

Do words like "house elf" or "Defence Against the Drak Arts" count as the number of the words they have in it or one word?
|
Each word counts. We're not going to go around counting words, this works on the honour system. If it helps you, MS Word has a word count function under the 'Tools' menu. Keep a file in which you write all your drabbles in MS Word. That's what I use. The point of this is to challenge yourself and make each story exactly 100 words long. You can do it!

Good Lord, why am I doing this? LOL.

I'll answer this. Hehe! Because like many SnitchSeekers, you're clever and fun-loving, and you love a challenge. And because you want to be a great writer!

Question: Can people comment of the Drabbles once they have been posted by the authors?
|
Currently, the Fan Fiction department and rules allows comments in story threads. This has been the case for as long as I can remember, but I have to admit, I hate the spam we get with this policy.
EDIT: We've decided to go with one community discussion thread for now. No comments in writers' drabble threads please. If you want to give private comments or constructive criticism, please PM the author. Thanks. _____________________

If I were to claim the Trio, could I write in one of the trio's perspective or would I have to write in, like, the Trio's perspective...? If that makes any sense at all...
|
If you claim the Trio, each drabble must be about the Trio. It doesn't matter whose point of view it is from. One could be from Harry's, one from Dobby's, or anyone else's, as long as the Trio are prominent in each drabble.

Do both twins have to be represented in the story or can one be about Fred and the next be about George?
|
Hm. Good question. I would suggest that if you've chosen 'The Twins', then both must be present. If you wish to claim one twin abut whom you'll write 100 drabbles, and we'll add him to the list.

What are we spose to write about i don't get it. and how it works. Sorry i'm so slow at figuring out stuff. say i picked someone than what do i do. dose a drabble mean i write 100 stories about that or 100 words. Amy confused.
|
A drabble is a story of 100 words (you must tell a story using only 100 words, so choose them wisely). This challenge asks you to write 100 drabble stories about a character/ship/group of your choosing. The 100 Drabbles (the word/phrase list in the 1st post) are THEMES, upon which you must base your 100 drabbles. So one post you would write drabble #1 - Herbology and the story must be about your character and relate to herbology in some way. Your next post could be drabble #92 and be about your character and chocolate. Once you have chosen a character and been added to the list in the 2nd post, you may post your drabble thread in this forum, making sure first that it complies with
The FF Rules.

Do I have to make the thread sometime soon? Because I can't start in the next few days. Also, if I submit two drabbles in the one day, do I have only the two weeks to post another? Or is it four because I have already posted two? *wishful thinking*
Grammar/spelling pickers are going to hate me
|
1. You should post within a week or two of claiming. And you can post as many as you want, but you must post at least one drabble every two weeks. Missing four weeks will lose you your claim on your character no matter how frequently you posted before that.
2.
The FF Rules apply. Proof read your work and use a
Beta Reader if you need one, but don't post with poor grammar, punctuation or spelling,
there's no excuse for it. If you want to play, respect your readers enough to work at it. Thanks.

Are we allowed to claim more than one character, group and/ or ship?
|
Yes, you may claim more than one character/ship/whatever, as long as you have every intention of keeping them up!

When we post a new Drabble Thread, do we just have to include the 100 Themes in the first post, or a drabble as well?
|
The FF rules requires that the first post of any new FF thread has a sample of writing in it to help the FF Mods decide whether it can be validated. So yes please!

Do they (a married couple) have to be married in my drabbles? Or can they be dating?
|
They can be from any time, as long it's about both of them. They could be meeting, dating, hating each other, married, dead.. whatever.

So can we use events that have already happened, that we don't really know that much about and just expand on them? And on the list. by 'teem' what do you mean? Is it supposed to be team?
|
You can base your drabbles on canon (what we know to be true, from the books and interviews) or AU (Alternate Universe).. as long as they follow the site & FF rules.
If you're not sure about a word in the list, please use a
dictionary. We've proof-read it, and there shouldn't be errors.
Teem is indeed the word.

What happens if something horrible like too much schoolwork happens and I have to delete my drabble thread? Are you even allowed?
|
Not to worry - if you happen to be overloaded with schoolwork and can't manage to post a drabble within two weeks, someone else can step in for you! So your past drabbles won't be lost at all (it will be sent to Finished Stories if you haven't posted in a month), and your character will be freed so someone else can claim him/her. Happy writing!

I were to write 100 drabbles on Rita Skeeter, would I be able to write certain events with her very Rita-ish perspective and her just being a bystander? Or would she have to be interacting with other characters in each drabble?
|
As long as Rita is a major part of the story, it can be from any point of view. Someone else could talk about her, she could be quietly witnessing something, she could be interacting with another character; any way.

Can we do poem-type drabbles as in
"Desperate attempts
Everlasting feelings of cruelness
P...
R..."
and so on to make the word Depression? I have a drabble done like that, it's exactly 100 words but I'm not sure if it's okay to post it.
|
For our purposes (and I've never seen it otherwise but I might be wrong) drabbles are stories of 100 words. Fiction, rather than wordplay, is what we're aiming for. If you wanted to make your drabble a story written in rhyme, well there's a cool challenge for you. But unless you're making a story with it, I wouldn't use an acrostic poem.

it has to be exactly 100 words...right, it can't be over or under?

Yup... exactly 100. That's the challenge.

Just one question, do the stories have to be coherent to one another or can each story be written from any part of that characters life?
|
They can be about any time in the character's life, and they don't need to be tied together (they each must stand alone as stories) except that they're all about your claimed character.

I've got a question: I will write 100 drabbles of Colin Creevey, who loves his camera and photos. Can each drabble be about a photo he takes?
|
Yup! Sounds great! As long as Colin's involved.

Does there have to be 100, or can I link 2 words together in a story, for example write about Quidditch and Leprechaun at the same time?
|
There must be 100; one drabble for each prompt.

100 crossover drabbles.
could i? would that be allowed? crossover, wizard meets elf? that type of thing?
|
Sure. Have at it!
Edit: Those wishing to write crossovers should choose
one other fandom or even better, a specific character or group from that fandom to cross with Harry Potter.

question:do you have to write out the list of the drabble topics?
|
I think you're asking if we require you to add that list of drabble topics in your first post. The answer is YES... we do. It's super easy to do, though, as all you have to do is cut and paste from the attachment Jan has provided, or even from another thread.

Question: After someone has finished their 100, are they crosssed off the list? or does it just keep going, anyother person can write 100?
|
Right now when someone finishes, the thread gets moved into the SS100 Hall of Fame (the forum for finished drabbles from the SS100). No more posts may be made in it, and the character claim is freed up for someone else to claim.

Q: For any of us that should of had to post while SS was down, would that date get extended because we couldn't get on?
|
Any thread that hasn't had an update in 1 month forfeits the author's claim and gets moved to the Finished Drabbles forum (We want to see at least a post every two weeks but we don't start Mod action until a month has passed, 'cause we're nice that way

). The site being closed for 2-3 days doesn't prevent any of us from actually writing, just posting during that time. It only takes a minute to post something previously written, so a closure that short doesn't have any impact on whether a thread is active or inactive. Short answer: No, but don't worry about it unless you've gone a month since you posted.

Quick Question: I posted in a new theme (this is my first time) and now I can't find it, is it being reviewed? and if so, I forgot to put a rating on it (Sa+13) can I do that, or do you, or do I have to restart it? I'm so confused |
All new threads must have a rating in the title and some story in it. In the case of the SS100 and SS50-1, your first ficlet or drabble must be in the first post (Mods cannot evaluate whether you've read the rules or will follow them in your thread if you don't give a sample of writing for us to evaluate). If you missed either of those elements, it's been deleted and you need to re-submit after reviewing the FF rules. Thanks!
I will no longer add ratings to SS100 and SS50-1 threads for you. It's in the rules, you must do it yourself or your threads won't be validated.
I've just recently posted an announcement at the top of this forum (and all FF forums) that reminds you all to read the FF rules before submitting any new threads. The rules are also within the announcement for your convenience. Thanks.
