The Shrieking Shack (RLFC) The shack is the place to go to show your adoration for the one and only Remus Lupin. But do beware when the full moon is out; you might just find yourself in a ... wolfish situation.

Post Discussion #4: If Remus Had Not Died

While researching on Remus on Wikipedia.com, I came across a piece of the article.
Quote:
Arthur was originally intended to die in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, but JK Rowling couldn't bear to kill him. he was then supposed to die in the seventh book, but again, she wasn't able to (due likely to the fact that one of his son had just died as well.)[1] He was also slated for death in the original draft for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows[2]. Rowling has said that part of the reason she couldn't kill Arthur as originally planned was that he is one of the only good fathers in the series. But as she "wanted to kill parents," she spared Arthur's life in exchange for Remus Lupin's and Nymphadora Tonks's[3].

If it were Arthur Weasley killed, & not Remus & Tonks, how do you think their lives would have been?

That's an easy one: Well, Lupin and Tonks would continue and have there pack expanded beyond Teddy, probably another Andromeda or some other family name. One of my fanfics had it where they had a daughter named Isadora. I think they would continue being Aurors and maybe Lupin starts a Reformation for werewolves and their children would follow in their footsteps.

I think Harry would more likely be a frequent guest at their house and keep a close watch on his godson and be there like Sirius never was able to. I think this family would change the world and fight for equal rights for all species.

It's a shame that this can't be. I see J.K.'s reasoning behind it, but it's still a very sad story that these two had to die, but it's a nice reflection of the previous war.

I think they would have been proud grandparents and would expand even more on their family tree of multi-colored werewolves!

I, personally, think it wouldn't have been too much different.

I think it would have been no less painful, if not more.
I don't think it would have been good for the books. Harry is the young character who loses parents, and Ron is an emotional helper, not knowing what it is like. If Arthur died, Ron would lose some of his character, as would the rest of that generation of Weasleys.

i am not sure how i would have felt about Arthur dying opposed to Remus and Tonks.... Either way it is painful!! If Remus and Tonks would have survived would Teddy be anymore stable than being with Andromeda? Who's to say?! Overall I think it was wise to spare Arthur's life because Harry would have been even more afflicted, moreso than losing Lupin and Tonks
