The Bistro

Fancy a bit of French cuisine or just looking for something sweet to eat? Either way, we've got you covered! In this new addition to the charms classroom, Professor Marchand offers you a taste of his homeland... with a modern flair.

A wrought iron chandelier hangs from the ceiling of a small room lined with tables and chairs enough to seat about fifteen people. All dishes are charmed to be self-cleaning, and two trash bins sit on either side of the door. Please remember to pick up after yourselves!

- Opera cake (almond sponge cake with a coffee-chocolate icing)

Enjoy these treats ready-made or try your hand at making them yourself! At the back of the room is a small kitchen where students can learn to prepare some of the items on the menu using only a few simple spells or create a dish all their own. There is a long counter, a sink, and a refrigerator and cabinets stocked with ingredients for you to use. On the wall is a sign with a few helpful kitchen charms to remember:

Melbourne glanced at the bistro in passing for what had to be (already) the millionth time this term. It wasn’t hard not to want to go in – they had chocolate. Chocolate was like the best thing in the world, but she didn’t want to make things easy for herself and just eat whatever came to fancy.

So.

Here she was tying an apron about her waste and securing her hair in a hairnet because lets face it. That was the right thing to do when food was involved…right? No one wanted to eat long disgusting hairs when they had treats and this was far easier to use than the actual kitchens.

”lets do this” she muttered to herself before grabbing the ingrdeints that she was going to need to make a charlotte cake…what had India made for Amelia’s baby shower again? Right…lemon, she had made Lemon and today Mel was going to make one herself…well maybe she’d make a citrus infused Raspberry Charlotte Russe.

The fun part of being a new student was that Nigel could explore the place and find something interesting, which apparently at Hogwarts everything was awesome so he was enjoying wandering around the castle.

One place led to another and he found himself in a bistro....in the charms classroom. He wondered why a bistro was part of a classroom, he wrote that down in his notebook to ask the professor later. There were a lot of treats but unfortunately he didn't like any sort of sweets. Shame.

So, here he was scanning the place as he usually did.

Joy was having a great time discovering new places in the castle. She walked into the bistro, and the sweet smell of food and drinks hit her nose. She sniffed the air appreciatively.

Her mother's birthday was coming up in a few days, and Joy couldn't think of what to send. So she had come to the bistro to make some treats, which she would send home later with her owl. She looked over all of the items and picked up a couple of recipe cards. She had decided to send some macarons and orangettes.

Joy grabbed the ingredients she needed for each recipe. She would start with the orangettes. She had never made this recipe before, but she had eaten many of them, so how hard could it be? She set her ingredients down on the counter and got to work.

Gaston poked his head into the bistro just to check in on things. So far, so good. The smell of baked goods hit his nose, and he was suddenly starving. He supposed it wouldn't hurt to grab a little something to eat while he was in here. He helped himself to a coffee and a slice of opera cake and turned for the door. Then he noticed Miss Sorin-Ward on the way out. "Hello, Miss Sorin-Ward," he greeted her with a smile. "What are you making?"

There were lots of treats that looked good -definitely- but it was a no from Nigel. Maybe he should give candy a chance, maybe he could finally like them or maybe not. Well, he was about to give it a try when someone, a boy about his age interrupted him.

He was confused "Help? With what?" Have the boy confused Nigel with someone else because he didn't knew anyone here besides the Gryffindor girl. "Who are you?" that seemed like the real question here.

Stepping into The Bistro many different scents attacked her nostrils all at once. From chocolates to cookies, coffees and teas. That was always the trouble with coming in here.. she never had any idea what to get.

Making her way around the empty tables she went right to the counter to take a good look at what was offered. Camilla looked over the items more than once before finally settling on Cherry clafouti and a cherry flavored French soda to go with it. Nothing wrong with spoiling one's self every now and then.

With her chosen snack and beverage in hand she selected a table off to the side away from the door and sat down. Mmm this looked so good!

Kalen needed a break, also some tea. He had dealt with so much lately at the school and it seemed to be the only thing to calm him down. Thankfully the Bistro wasn’t that far away from the Library and after making sure everything was calm and quietly, the Librarian slipped out and headed down the stairs..

He entered and headed straight for the food. First he put some vanilla Macarons on his plate, he loved the cookies and was so grateful that he could now get them anytime he wanted.

Though his waistline was not so happy about it..

Good thing he had took back up running.. It gave him more energy to get things done as well.

He picked up his plate and then moved to get a cup of tea.. once the cup of steaming liquid was in his hands he looked around the room to find a spot to sit. He smiled as he saw Camilla and headed over to her. ”Mind if I join you? “ He asked softly.

"How are you this afternoon? The library quiet today?" she asked softly picking up her drink and taking a sip.

Merlin he didn’t even want to think about what he had seen in the library the other day. Nopeeeee

”And yes, the Library is quiet today, it usually is during the afternoons, especially when the weather is nice out. “ Of course many of the kids were in classes as well, which made the library extra quiet..

"Anytime," Cami smiled warmly in reply. Truthfully she didn't know Kalen all that well. While they certainly did talk here and there when they had a few free moments of time she hadn't had the chance to really get to know the man. It was sad really to think that they as colleagues all spent months together but how well did they really know one another? It was this very fact that had gotten the women into wanting to get to know the rest of the staff better.

Nothing out of the ordinary. This made Camilla smile as she picked up her soda taking another refreshing sip. "That's always good to hear. Nothing is quite as nice as nothing special happening someday's." A quiet day was nothing to complain about. "Mm, I myself was debating on whether or not I wanted to take a stroll on the grounds or here for a nice snack. Clearly the snack won," she laughed softly taking another spoonful of her dessert.

"I'm doing well. I felt like I earned a treat today after having a quiet week without any issues. Good so far as I can tell. No one has cried or gone to the hospital wing so I consider that a major plus." This was meant as a small joke but it also held a matter of seriousness to it. No professor liked having a crying student or to send anyone to the Healer.

He was just glad he wasn’t here during the portal days.. And he was glad Leon hadn’t told him about that until after he had gotten hired.

”Ahh, I see the snack won. I myself was craving some tea and Macarons and so here I am. “ He said with a soft chuckle as he picked up one of the delicate cookies and brought it to his mouth. The small bite he took was delicious and he sighed happily. Tea and Macarons, so lovely.

As it was all good things always came to an end. Whether it be a quiet day or a loud one none of them were every truly boring while being here in the castle.

Scooping some more of the custard onto her spoon she smiled. "Indeed. I don't mind admitting that I can have a bit of a sweet tooth at times." Especially after an entire summer with a pre-teen. No one knew the amount of snacking she had done while spending time with Emmeline. It was a wonderful thing that she was an active women and liked keeping on the go. "The Macarons are delicious here, a favorite of mine last term."

See Kalen knew just what she was talking about. Taking a sip of her soda she smiled. "So far so good. If the entire term can pass by just like this I'll be in my true glory." Wishful thinking at it's finest right here. "So how is it teaching Astronomy?" Did he like the new position?

Sooo Juni had found this nice little bistro place her last year, before that she had no idea that this place was here. How could she not know this? The sweets were delicious and it reminded her of last summer vacationing in France. All of the sweets. And breads.

She couldn’t wait to go on another summer vacation, she was learning spanish now, and was hoping for Spain or Mexico or maybe even some South American country. Though if not that was okay too. She could always start learning another language. Though after spanish she was hoping to learn sign language next.

There was one language that she was all too familiar with, her stomach growls. Which were telling her that she needed food. It even took her mind of learning, and traveling. All the traveling she won’t to do. She grabbed four macaroons two for now and two for later. Then she grabbed two elcairs one for now and the other for later. Hehehe she would want those for later. She found a table and sit down with her food.

OH MERLIN. Slateypoo had seen her woof down that macaroon. She sighed to herself. She watched as he took the food. She titled her head and laughed. "A taste? I give you half." Teasing him. "Really? Never ever been here?"

THAT WAS A SHOCKER!

She knew that he LOVED food. She could have fake choked if she didn't have food and eating right now.

Really though, "Is there any food you don't like?" She was going to make it her life mission to find a food that he didn't like if he didn't have one already.

Kalen chuckled softly as she spoke about quiet days being the day to fear. ”I usually just find them relaxing, it’s the loud days, the ones with lots of noise that tend to scare me most. “ He would never forget the day he got the worst news of his life. It had been loud and noisy and he could barely hear what the Aurors were telling him.

The silence after those days though.. the empty quiet that permeated every inch of his life seemed to haunt him, but eventually he found solace in calm. It was the noise that brought up bad memories.

As Beau-ey looked over the menu he made the typical OoOoOOOoooOOOOOH and aaAAaaAaaaAAAHHHH sounds at all the delightful things he could order. What if he wanted it ALL? Was that allowed? Juni laughed, that pile was her food for later, while she was doing her homework and studying. "Well there is plenty more food over there that we can try too." Lets of French food. Sweets more like it.

She smiled, "Well you have found the motherload of food right here." This could very well be their new hang out place. "I bet I can find at least one thing you don't like." And yes that was a challenge Ryker.
