Chloe had heard rumors that Grant Cooper was no longer the Portkey Master General. Although, she wasn't completely sure and maybe he'd just been working off-site for the past three months which would explain why she hadn't seen him this year. Or at the Ski Retreat thing. Maybe he didn't ski? Or he'd fallen ill? Regardless, the former Gryffindor felt obligated to attempt to capitalize on his absence. It wasn't like she was a complete novice to the Ministry, after all. She'd been here since graduated .... almost six years ago now? Or seven years ago? When exactly did she graduate again?

She'd even been in the manufacturing portkey role since uh... three years now? She couldn't really be sure. But the fact of the matter is that she was a loyal employee, turning the big quarter of a century this year. And there was a potentially vacant position that she wanted before Lynley put the next dodo in place there. Not that Grant was a dodo by any stretch of the imagination, but just, who knew who else could fill his shoes? And who knew the Portkey division better than herself?

Dressed for success (because duh!), the redhead had even bought some cheap drugstore glasses to look even smarter. Checking her reflection to make sure had nothing in her teeth or any stray flyaways, she headed towards her boss' office and knocked.
