Default Park Bench

Placed strategically along the south end of the street, there are about five park benches on either side of the street offering a place for the weary to rest their tired feet for a moment. There is one situated between Eeylops and Flourish and Blotts, one between Weasley's Wizard Wheezes and Ollivanders - and then on the opposite side of the street, between Primpernelle's and Wiseacres, and Sugarplums and the Menagerie. The fifth bench is where the cobblestone ends, clearly placed there to let you know you've reached the end of the street and to turn back now.

Though I would be wary of the bench near Sugarplums, as well as the one near WWW, as both seem to have fairly strong odors associated with them. The one near WWW simply because WWW gained a store location right near the rubbish bin, which holds various items, some still of value, but many decomposing. And that Sugarplums bench? It used to be home to at least one homeless person who's hair was so matted, it could have been used by your front door, and who likely hadn't had a proper shower or change in clothes in several years. The lovely shopkeeper assistant from Sugarplums saw to it that the homeless of the area were sorted out though.... the stench still lingers. She is currently working on that.

Instead of running off to somewhere or something more interesting, Joey was confronted with a boy clambering all over a bench and balancing on the backrest of it! That looked cool, and of course the eleven year old immediately wanted to try it. So he did, climbing up and standing wobbly but grinning massively next to the other boy.

"Good view."
Spencer liked to believe he was a lot better at this balancing malarkey than he actually was. The threat of falling and injuring himself was very real, but Spencer barely considered it. There was definitely a KNACK to it though, a trick to staying balanced and looking COOL while he was at it, and it had everything to do with keeping composed and still and blah blah blah. But Spencer was a ten year old whirlwind, he didn't like being composed and still and blah blah blah. So, naturally, he wobbled. A lot.

It was while he was wobbling (a lot) that Spencer became aware of someone joining him, and instantly turned his attention to them. This lapse in concentration led to even more wobbling, and Spencer had to employ emergency windmill arms to stay up on his precarious perch.

More importantly, though, he had an audience. Another participant, even. Spencer grinned back at the other boy, nodded his head, and found that that threw his balance off even more. He stopped abruptly, but kept grinning.

"The best," he said, with an obvious lisp. A shuffle of his feet later, and Spencer found that sweet spot that would enable him to keep his balance a little better, and maybe even have a conversation at the same time. "Cool kids don't sit on benches, they balance on them." He was, of course, asserting right from the off that he was one of the aforementioned 'cool kids'. That was very, very important.

Hopefully this would not be a long wait.
Ewan couldn't help but need to sit down. His journey to London had been a long one but he'd made it and was very proud of himself for it. Seeing the row of benches certainly was a welcome sight.

Looking for a place to sit, his hood pulled up and his backpack ever present on his shoulders, he slunk over to an empty bench and sat down, his legs ready for the rest that they had definitely earned. Removing is backpack, his long legs stretched out infront of him in the sunlight, he couldn't help but notice a boy with curly hair sitting alone. Did he... recognise the boy? He couldn't quiet work out. It had been so long since he'd left Hogwarts mid way through the year without a whisper.

Brody was still swinging his feet when he observed another familiar face. There had been lots of them that day, student and professors. He had tactfully avoided most of them. The student that he had been observing was one he had met right here in Diagon Alley last year but had seemingly vanished sometime in the school year. Truthfully, Brody had forgotten about that boy’s existence until now.

Ewan was his name?

The Snake watched as the boy sat. Then their eyes locked with each other. Brody’s eyebrow subtly arched as he looked back blankly. Yes, he was quite sure that Ewan was his name and that he belonged to Ravenclaw House.

The other boys emergency windmill arms brought something of a smirk to Józef's face, or as much of a smirk as the eleven year old knew how to do. By comparison, he was much better at this balancing thing - a false fact that Jó truly believed, ignoring the fact that he hadn't had to turn around.

The kid got props for staying up, though. No falling yet, and that was impressive.

The fact that a nod set off the kid wobbling again almost made Józef laugh, but he reigned it in because he just KNEW that he would fall, and he could not risk EMBARRASSING himself in the middle of the alley, or WORSE - injuring himself before he even started Hogwarts. There would be no hope in trying out for the Quidditch team if that happened.

Instead, he grinned easily back. "Obviously," he agreed. "Sitting is totally for losers." Like his sister.

"I cam from up there" Mark pointed to the top of the steps that lead down into Knockturn Alley. "I should probably go up now anyways. My Dad's gotta be looking for me."Even though it's only been no more than 3 minutes since he stood there entranced by the older girl who was also a Curse Breaker.

With proper pleading maybe he could convince him to at least allow him frozen yogurt.
Noah Trevelyan was a happy little girl. She was the absolute happiest because they’d gone and gotten ice-cream and she’d paid with the money she’d picked from several pockets instead of having to ASK them to pay FOR her. Her mother was always careful not to give her money because she knew it would encourage her to go up to Diagon Alley to spend it. Most times she had to say what she wanted and have it brought to her but that was no fun.

Leaving the ice-cream shop that was SO CRAMPED today, the little girl led them over to a nearby bench and plopped down contentedly. Her feet swung lightly and a smile was firmly fixed in place as she looked at her double scoop sundae. “I love ice-cream.” Her way of contributing to whatever conversation the two had been having now that she wasn’t so impatient or irritable.

“Can you take curses off people once they get out on them?”

Merlin. Spencer almost regretted attempting this balancing act. Almost. Because, as he'd already claimed - out loud and to everyone within earshot - doing this was the cool option, so no way was he ever going to be seen sitting normally in a chair. Maybe that would cause problems later, but you know. Future problem.

Anyway, he'd sort of got the hang of it now, give or take a wobble here and there, and that was enough to keep him grinning. He didn't attempt to nod again, though, mostly because he didn't want to risk his reputation by falling. "My name's Spencer" he announced to the other boy, and risked puffing his chest out even given his precarious position. It was worth it. "And I'm incredibly cool."

The request for the other boy to introduce himself in return was implied... somewhere... in his statement. Spencer wasn't entirely self-centred. Only mostly. He still took some interest in others, especially when they seemed almost as cool as he was.

Mark sat down on the bench next to the younger girl. holding in his hand a paper cup bowl of vanilla frozen yogurt with no toppings and looking rather upset about the choice that was made for him since running back into his Father. Who seemed especially panicked about leaving him so close to Knockturn Alley alone. He would do his best to cover for his Dad on the mess up of parenting. Or well, maybe if he got to have actual ice cream and not this fake cream. The thought crossed his mind to actually fib on him intentionally to Mum. Especially since he was pretty bad at keeping secrets anyways. Why even try to hide it? He looked up to his Father who now had the leash and Bertha with him and turned his head to the girl who suddenly had an interest in Curse Breaking now that she had Ice Cream. He could have asked that Question, he wanted to ask that Question in fact had so many more questions he wanted to ask the Older Girl on what she knew about Curse Breaking that would be different from his Father's experience. Instead he looked up and over to the girl and with a spoonful of Fake Cream nodded in agreement to that question while sliding the scoop past his lips and down the hatch.

How in Merlin's Infantile Baby Diapers did he get included into an Ice Cream party with a Young Lady, a Young Girl, and his Son. This was all so Un-Oakey-Like. But he had to appease Mark, do whatever it took to keep him from blabbing to Ariana how he had lost sight of their son for 4 minutes by Knockturn Alley. So yeah he got himself roped into an Ice Cream Day. Though he himself did not get himself a bowl of ice cream and had convinced Mark the healthier choice would be Frozen Yogurt and he would allow it. He took a spoonful of his Vanilla Frozen Yogurt and had a bite of it when his eyebrow raised at the younger girl's question. Where did that Question on Curse Breaking come from? Had Mark spoken to her about his Profession? Was that Question directed to him?

He was about to speak up but Bertha saw a Squirrel. Damn Girl actually saw something and tugged on the leash which his hand was holding his Frozen Yogurt and the paper bowl spilled all over his shirt. "Oh Come O..." Then Bertha tugged on the leash again and pulled Oakey forward and further away from their group. That Dog was still a tough girl when she was set on chasing rodents! He'll need to down a Vile of Felix Felices when he gets home.

Can you take a Curse off People. Please tell him.
