International Cooperation: Adult Classroom

Level Five is determined to help all the immigrants that that come through our doors. For that reason we have opened up some adult classes for anyone from immigrants to natural born citizens. The room off to the right of the lobby is open specifically for training and classes that could be held by anyone in the ministry. While not in use the room is open for an extra work space for level 5 employees and can be used as an extension for immigration officers doing interviews or investigations.

Rani had done a great job setting up for this meeting. Coffee, tea, water, and some light refreshments had been sent up along one wall and the small work places had been replaced with one very large oval table.

Conley grabbed himself a cup of tea and then sat down at the far end of the table so that he could observe people as they entered the room. Placing his notebook out in front of him, he wrote himself a quick note about Rani's diligence and set a reminder to send the young woman a thank you for taking care of the arrangements.

Then he sat back and sipped quietly on his tea as he mentally prepared himself for what he hoped, but did not expect to be, a simple Ambassadorial debriefing.

Stewart Fleming had been delighted when he'd been informed about the meeting at the Ministry. Any excuse to pop home for a bit and see his daughter and his granddaughter was always welcome. It's from Level three that he arrived now, bursting with pride after being shown a little of Bambi's desk and daily work affairs. There weren't enough words in the English language to describe just how much he was proud of her, for coming all this way, for maturing so much in the last few years.

"Good morning, ev- .. Mr. Phora," ah, was he too early again? Ambassador Fleming disliked being late, for any occasion, and Ministry meetings were definitely events he wanted to be punctual for. There's nothing quite so tedious as having to wait for late arrivals before starting a meeting. He expected the same from his own team back in Croatia, as he couldn't account for the locals. Though they were, by a far cry, much more punctual than the locals during his previous country assignment.

Right. Time for tea.

Ronan had warned him about the food in this Ministry, so Grayson had stopped off with his young cousin (cousin-in-law?) at a coffee shop nearby before making their way to the building, where they parted ways with the young man heading to level two and the MLE and the ambassador making his way to this very room.

"Morning," he greeted the two men already there, taking a seat beside the one whom he assumed was a fellow ambassador (Stewart) and checking his own lapel to make sure he had remembered his flag pin. Sure enough, there was the American flag staring back at him. Good.

Hil had been working in the British Ministry as the U.S. ambassador for many years now, so many she forgot some days that she was actually from America and actually worked for them not the British ministry. She loved it though and everyone was always so welcoming. She just happened to be in for a few other meetings when she heard about the meeting that was going to happen, so Hilliary decided to join in.

She had been in America for a few weeks just catching up with a few things and had been of course letting all her friends know about the happenings that had been going on here. She was curious to see what the British employees that were stationed in the other ministry's had to say.

No tea for her though, it was one thing she could never get use to.

With several folders tucked under his arm, Charles made his way to level five as requested by Conley. Of course, the man hardly needed to ask the Minister to attend as the moment the department head had brought the meeting to Charles' attention he had been ready to leap into action. The matters to be discussed here were particularly pressing considering the United Kingdom was to play host to the world come summer and he was keen to hear if anyone at this meeting may coincidentally provide information that may lead to the source of these mysterious threats January had been receiving.

"Ah, good day everyone," he greeted as he entered the room and grabbed himself a coffee and strolled over towards one of the vacant seats and set his things down.

First things first though. Approaching Conley, Charles gave the man's shoulder a friendly pat and squeeze before moving on to greet the ambassadors gathered. "Ambassador Fleming, Ambassador Gellar, Ambassador," he nodded while offering them each a handshake in turn. "Thank you for making the trip all the way back to the Ministry today." He then turned towards the other American ambassador with an equally warm smile. "Ambassador Pen, lovely to see you as well."

Sachin Mahendra Singh, ambassador to India, would naturally be making this meeting. His attendance to them was perfect and he intended on keeping it that way. The only reason it had taken him a little while to arrive at the Conference Room on level five was because he had made a few stops to see some friends at the Ministry. However, he was at the Room now.

“Namaste, everyone,’’ Sachin said chirpily and ruffling his thick, black hair. “Conley, great to see you again.’’ He liked to think that he and Conley were a great pair when it came to work related issues. And the Minister was joining them? This was very interesting. “Minister,’’ the man said politely.

Now he bustled to make himself some chai.

Dragon hide heels click-clacking as she walked, Krel ambled into the room. From the looks of things, she hadn’t been too late. She had taken advantage of the trip home this visit had provided, to check in on her ailing father. He was having a good day and therefore it had been hard to leave. Frankly, she hoped this meeting wouldn’t go too long so she could go back home.

”Kood day everyone,” Krel proffered up with a big toothy smile. Sometimes transitioning back to English after speaking German so often affected her accent. She set her bag down, then helped herself to some tea. There was nothing like a good cup of English brewed tea.

”Stewart, Glad you could make it.” Conley said with a smile. He set his teacup down on the table wishing there was a spell that would auto-refill his teacup. Alas, if he wanted a refill he would have to get up…

Next in was Ronan and Conley made a note on his pad. He had hoped that it would have been some of his staff. But perhaps they had become busy. After all, there had been some hub-bub up in the Food Court – again. Next to Ronan’s name, Conley made a note never to eat up there. It might mean going without food, but he figured it was safest to simply avoid it. The worst thing about it had been that the ministry had spent all that money remodeling the place.

”There should be coffe Hilliary,” Conley asked. He had remembered reading something about the female’s dislike of tea. Rani had not only arranged the meeting and food, but had provided him with a list of food preferences.

Charles entered closely followed by Sachin . Now Conly really wished his team would show up. He hadn’t been expecting the Miniser himself to show, but it was a very nice surprise that he came himself. ”Sir,” He said returning the older man’s smile “Sachin , lovely to see you again.”[b] He just hoped this time, the meeting would provide better news.

As Krel entered, Conley decided it was time to get started. He didn’t want to keep the Minister too long. He knew how busy his schedule was.

Once Krel had sat down, Conley cleared his throat. Hopefully any of his staff that showed would just slip in quietly.

”Greetings everyone,” Conley said shifting in his seat. ”I know everyone has a busy schedule and port-key times to keep too, so we are going to get started. I asked everyone to meet today in order to meet Minister Hollingberry and to express any concerns you or your host country might have. This is an open floor meeting, so please, speak up.” He paused for a moment. “Minister Hollingberry, is there anything you would like to start with?”

Sachin beamed and nodded in agreement. This time, he could tell, it was going to be a lighter air in which he and Conley met. With the cup of chai on hand, he took a seat. Things should be getting started soon, was the thought running through his head. In the meanwhile, it was a good time to drink some tea and so he did until half of the cup’s contents was gone. Indians and their love for tea were not to be messed with.

Right.

Issues that needed to be dealt with. The Quidditch World Cup and Security was the main one on Sachin’s short list. He also wanted to check in on Nickels stuff on the British end. Thankfully, there hadn’t been damage on India’s side as that Ministry was able to act accordingly. But yes, back to the meeting. The man figured he’d let the Minister go first because Conley had called on him.

Since Hillary was American and working inside the British ministry she would see the department head often so she wasn't surprised when he singled her out about the coffee, "Thank you Conley" Getting up she grabbed a cup before taking her seat again.

Seeing the minister come in Hillary smiled and watched as everyone got comfortable. Seh knew the crazy that went on here with the other one, but it was the looks that made her glad this one was now in office. Even for an older guy he was handsome, Hillary was going to sit quietly in the back and just imagine how good looking he was in his twenties and thirties, yes she could really picture it.

Charles had not entirely been expecting to take the floor first, or at all, but he certainly could rise to the occasion. He supposed some of this ought to come from his mouth directly though he would still be treating certain matters delicately and with an air of secrecy for a bit longer.

"Ah, yes, certainly," he nodded as he rose from his seat and smoothed his robes a bit. "This Ministry has the opportunity to rectify some of the wrongs of the former administration. Steps that, as I am sure you are all well informed of, have already begun. Though the real test is to come on a true global scale with the United Kingdom winning the bid to host the next Quidditch World Cup." Which was no real news to these ambassadors, he was sure. "That being said, there is a growing unrest in just how sour a global image this Ministry and its nation has received in light of the decisions of former Minister Nickles. We, naturally, have our own team who monitor global medias both magical in nature and muggle, but you are a more direct line of communication than the press which can represent a very skewed image of the current state of affairs." There was a rather extensive list to go on, which each of them should have received prior to this meeting. If not, he had additional copies on hand. "As ambassadors you are tasked with the protection of the citizens of your nations. In light of the World Cup, I am sure you can see where your opinion and perspective is of value in terms of security and any concerns thereof. Therefore, I would like to open the floor to any matters your Ministries feel this Ministry need to address specifically as we move forward. Any specifics would be much appreciated."

“...skewed image of the current state of affairs.’’

The Indian Ministry certainly was one that took these skewed images seriously. Not each employee, per say, but the majority of them. The majority of whom Sachin spoke to, anyway. It was difficult not to given the extent of that list that had been passed to the ambassadors earlier. His head hurt just by looking at it. Instead, the man focused on listening to the Minister and consuming his tea. Speaking of tea... he would need another cup soon.

And Minister Charles was done?

It was a good time as ever to continue the discussion, with Sachin taking up the mantle.

“The Indian Ministry has always had faith in the British Ministry but as Nickels took over and almost demolished everything that the British worked so hard to preserve and secure over the years, that put a dent in said faith.’’ Here, he drew breath while rumpling his dark hair. ''They would like to know, in as much details as possible, how the current Administration seeks to go about ensuring that no such events, or someone like Nickels will ever gain power again, especially with the upcoming World Cup.’’

It was nice seeing for himself exactly how seriously this administration was taking the trouble that Nickles had created. But..."You'll understand if MACUSA is still a bit reluctant to fully trust in the Ministry." The American's trust in the British had been all but shattered thanks to the previous Minister. In fact, there had been comparisons to a certain Muggle American leader floating around. All in all, not good. "They would like to know how, exactly, they can be sure that they can trust you and what makes you different from Nickles." Grayson was sorry to be so blunt, but at the same time, he felt it was best considering the situation. "There's also concern with how long it took for something to be done about Nickles and if that's, to quote the MACUSA President, 'the kind of feet dragging we can expect' if something happens during the World Cup." There was actually talk of sending their own Aurors as bodyguards for the National Team, but he felt that was best kept to when they were actually on that topic.

Conley wasn’t really surprised by anything anyone had said so far. In fact, he had kind of expected it. Nor did he fault other countries. If he was still working for the French Ministry, he probably would have voiced his own apprehensions himself. He wasn’t really sure what to tell them. Of course it had taken some time to remove Nickels from office. There were procedures that had to be followed in order to remove someone from an elected office. He took a sip from his teacup before responding. ”Precautions haven been taken to ensure that uncongenial and incongruous candidates are vetted out. Certain laws and requirements are being reviewed by the Wizengamot we speak,” that was pretty much all Conley could say on the matter at the moment. Other details were confidential and/or he didn’t have knowledge of other efforts. It was perhaps a canned answer, but an answer none-the-less.

”As for the World Cup,” Conley wasn’t entirely educated on the security measures that were being developed, but he knew they were finalizing the information. ”The Department of Magical Law Enforcement are finalizing their preparations and security plans. Attending nations’ security details are welcome to contact the head of Britain’s Law Enforcement, and align their own preparations with ours. IMC, of course, would be happy to help arrange these meetings and provide translators if needed.“


”Germany’s main concern ist,” Krel spoke up. ”Illegal imports.” She was, of course, referencing the illegal Dragon Egg market that had been rampant a few years ago. Germany had confiscated a lot of different eggs and all the buyers had stated they had gotten the eggs from a Brit. ”With all the traffic, vhat will stop the trading of illegal substances.”


”We are looking to hire additional staff in the International Magical Training Standards Body, specifically undercover buyers and Counterfeit and Certification Officers before the World Cup. These employees will be working very closely with our Magical Law Enforcement.”

Now that the ministry was open there was no time to wast. She had a to-do list a mile long and things had to get fully rolling. Her department had been working hard for over a year now and it was time to bring it together. Victoria came to the classroom very early, as usual, to make sure everything was set up and ready. She wasn't going to step on the level's department heads toes, but this was games area of expertise and she had some things to be set her way and the refreshments were always one of them.

Making sure they had been set out she took some tea and found her seat. Resting was something she had to do more of, but it was nice to sit and just take in the quiet until the meeting started.

She opened her notes and started checking things off that had already been done and added to the list of many things that still needed done. Level five, as well as many others, were going to be so important for this World Cup to be successful.

Harper had to pause down the corridor from the classroom to catch her breath because she had definitely overslept that morning and she was SURE that she was late for the meeting.

Except, she realised as she entered the room, she wasn't. Not even remotely, unless it was already over and she'd missed the whole thing?!

No, a quick glance at her watch told her that wasn't the case, and she breathed a sigh of relief. "Good morning!" Harper said cheerily to the Sports department head - Victoria, if she remembered correctly - as she found a seat, pulling her notebook and self-inking quill from her bag.

Nathaniel walked into the room. Glancing down at his watch he noticed that he was in fact early. Which made him relax a bit. Getting around the Ministry was a process. One in which he would be glad to become accustomed to rather than worried he'll end up in the wrong location for a very important meeting. Like today.

Taking the leather folder from under his arm he laid it upon the table taking a seat near where Victoria was sitting but also close to the woman that he did not know. He really should have mingled more at the picnic but social gatherings... ew. He gave his Department Head a curt nod, "Good Morning." he figured she would want the silence. He gave the other woman a nod as well hoping that he wouldn't have to.....chitchat

It wasn't long after Victoria and Nathaniel arrived at the room that Lucas did. He hoped this meeting wouldn't be extended because of pointless talking or squabbles or anything of the sort. He had enough work as it was. Games and Sports on the whole though he was sure each level had their own work load. He slipped into the Adult Classroom. "Hey, everyone,'' he said pleasantly before pulling up a chair next to Vic. At the moment he tried to stifle a yawn. Yes, he had been working some long nights and was tired.

Sachin was in great spirits today. The World Cup was drawing closer and he couldn't wait. "Namaste, har koee. Good morning, everyone.'' Translations... they were important for those who didn't speak Hindi. The guy rumpled his hair to keep it a tad messy. In his hand, he held a cup of steaming masala chai which he was sipping on at interval. Now, Sachin planted his behind on a chair, good naturedly leading back in it and waiting for things to get on the way.

Bennett thought this was a very exciting time to join the ministry. The Quidditch Cup was here which meant he was bound to be busy. There would be a period of so many foreigners (including foreign dignitaries). He settled into a chair, muggle pen and notebook in hand.

He was ready to get to work.

Eliora was just going to take a seat in the back with the first of the five coffees she had hovering around her head. She had every intention of listening to the entirety of this meeting and taking notes as and when she felt they were important. This was going to be something her department would be involved in without realising and so she wanted to make sure she was prepared.

Because, whilst she had been working at the Ministry for so long, she had never been in charge of anything but her children. So getting this right and having all of the current information was important.

She had been trusted with a position and she wasn't going to let Maddox down.

And she may not have been able to read all of the notes he had left for her.

Although he managed the Gobstones division in Games and Sports, Milo knew that his presence and assistance for the Quidditch World Cup would still be needed. He knew it was a huge deal. And so, here he was for this joint meeting with International Cooperation.

He saw Victoria and Lucas already there, and recognized the new person, Nathaniel, from their department. Giving them all a pleasant smile and acknowledging nod, Milo took a seat near them and pulled out some materials for note taking.


As her department would be organizing and implementing the portkeys necessary to travel to the stadium, as well as other forms of travel, Kendra thought it essential that she attend this meeting as well. Of course, she could have asked Chloe to come in her stead, but with something so important, she wasn't going to miss it.

Noting some familiar faces, she gave a few nods in greeting, then went to find a seat near the back. Opening her leather journal to jot down pertinent information, she crossed her legs at the knee and waited for this meeting to begin.

Jacob entered the adult classroom on level 5 shortly after Milo for the joint meeting with International Cooperation, since it was to be about the Quidditch world cup. The blond guy wasn't employed in the Quidditch division currently but that didn't mean that his assistance and thoughts we'ren't wanted or needed. Victoria wanted all hand's on deck. Letting his eyes wander over those already in attendance Jacob sent pleasant smiles all around. "Good morning everyone!" before he moved forward to take a seat near Milo, Victoria and Nathaniel with his notepad and selfinking quill.

As she sat and sipped her tea the silence of the room was starting to allow her own thoughts to creep into her head and take over. This was a huge thing for the ministry and her department. She felt like she was already behind on the to-do list she had made, but they had to get the ball rolling for the event. Level seven had been truly working on it for years. Every time it was up for a bid, they put it in, but finally, it was their turn to hold the huge event again. She wanted it to go well. She had an amazing team that has worked so hard, but she couldn't help but wish Mariel and Adam were there. They helped start this ball rolling and she hoped they would at least be attending. She would owl them tickets. It was the least she could do for all their hard work in the past.

As people started to come into the room her thoughts were quieted and she got up to refill her tea. [b] "Hello everyone, we will wait a little longer, but please grab a little snack or something to drink while you wait. If we need more seats we can have someone grab some from the office area. She thought they would have enough though.

Giving a quick head count of her own employees Victoria checked the time, yes it was about time to start and she knew they all had busy schedules. Seeing the other department heads making themselves comfortable Victoria decided this was as good of a time as any.

"Good morning everyone, thank you for joining us. As many of you know I'm Victoria Culloden the head of Games and Sports. This summer I'm very excited and proud to say that we are hosting the Quidditch World Cup. Now level seven has been busy for some time preparing for this, but it is now time to bring all the ministry on board to get everything done and ready for July. All your department heads know what things their area has to have, but we thought a full meeting would help make everyone aware."


She looked around and made eye contact with two of the department heads sitting there, transportation and accidents were two very important ones. "Would either of you like to discuss what your areas will be doing?"

Conley hated being late. And late he was. But it couldn’t be helped. Especially when one was called away out of the country for an unexpected length of time. What he had expected to be a simple 3 day trip had turned into a month-long foray of trying to climb his way out of a avalanche of problems. And to top it all off, the Belgium ambassador quit. QUIT! With the World Cup coming up. Like he didn’t have enough things on his plate to deal with.

So still dressed in his travel robes and looking a bit travel weary, Connie walked into the Adult classrooms to find the meeting had already started. Normally he would have paused to greet a few people, the most prominent ones being the visiting ambassadors, but to do so at this point would be rude. Instead he grabbed a quick up of something to drink and then made his way into the seat next to Victoria.

Ah, of course. Direction to her. With a sip of her coffee and a shake of her head, Eliora smiled. "No, no. My guys are up to date with our stuff. I'm just here to get notes on everything else." So, please.. take the attention away from her before she threw up straight coffee.

Because this was nervewracking and she had not had enough sleep yet.
