Dungeon Corridor

After descending a narrow spiral staircase accessed through a door on the left side of the Entrance Hall, you can immediately sense a change in temperature. In spite of the numerous torches that are scattered along the stone corridor, the warmth emitting from the flames isn't enough to keep those goosebumps at bay. Movement is your best source of heat down here, so you had best keep on walking forward at a brisk pace.

Going further down the long, gloomy stone corridor branches off to a web of more corridors that are just as long and even gloomier. Portraits depicting the most esteemed pure-bloods of the past adorn these walls. Some are covered with cobwebs, but others will follow your every move with judgmental eyes -- if you are not of a worthy blood status or a Slytherin for that matter, many of these portraits will shout out snide comments at you. Pay no attention to them, however; you have better places to be and things to do, such as exploring the underground chambers or attending Potions class.

UM, what???

Did this person (James) just imply she was afraid?

Alice bristled at the taunt coming from the Ministry worker she had been trying to extract information from. She turned to face him, still bristling. "Did I say I was scared? All I asked was if you had experience with creatures similar to what we are dealing with. If I was scared, then I could have easily volunteered to guide the students back to their common rooms."

Was she scared? Of course she was scared. Everything about these pink monsters was upsetting to her, from the moment she had seen them at the feast to the moment Dolly had been eaten. But she felt it was disrespectful for people to tell her that when she was trying her best to be helpful and to hide her fear.

It did not help at all when the other Ministry worker (Theophilus) chided her yet again for "violence." "Hang on, sirs, I haven't talked once today about using violence myself. However, since you insist, I will tell you now that the only reason why I am promising to not inflict any damage on your precious monsters is because I was ordered not to. I don't want to lose my job and I believe in order, so I will follow my orders - as long as they don't place myself or anyone in my protection in danger. However, I do not want for one second to be confused with sharing your mentality on these creatures. In my opinion, we should wipe them out. Your insistence on sparing monsters that have killed a human is beyond baffling to me. I bet you even believe their lives and our lives are equal!"

She stopped talking then because her voice had gone up several notches, and she didn't want to alert any nearby ratfaces where they were. Lowering her voice, she concluded her speech:

"I know I must sound like a terrible monster to you for putting sentient life above monster life, but I don't care. I am used to it. Now I've already been told 'no violence' five times within this past hour and I have already acknowledged my assent five times. I do not want to hear any of you chide me again. I want to focus on catching these monsters in the most HUMANE way possible, so we don't have to worry about being eaten. So let's focus, mkay dears?"

She gave him (James) the thinnest smile she had ever given to anyone. Then she averted her gaze forward and kept walking.

[MUTANT!]

Splitting off from the main group, a few of the fluffers scampered (and rolled) down the dungeons. They were trying to get away from the humans and needed to create as much distance as possible. There were no humans in the dungeons, right?

They stopped short when they heard a lot of angry arguing coming up ahead. Oh no!

Chattering fearfully, they turned around and tried going back the way they came hoping to go unnoticed.

SO MUCH FACE RUBBING!!

Ugh could he go now? The ministry seemed to have it well in hand and it didn’t even sound like they needed him.

He rubbed his neck and wished for a cup of tea as he tried to slink off to the side and out of the way of the argument that was brewing behind him. Yeah if anyone needed him, he was going to be overrrrrrr here, searching for pink things.

Cause right now, he’d rather face down a man eating mutant than get in the way of an Argument.

Nothing to see here, casually walking away..

Kalen would have been whistling if he could, until hang on.. was that a pink thing he saw?

He waved his hands back at the situation behind him and hissed at them.

“Hush! I see one!” He hissed softly as he started to ever so quietly creep towards the mutant thing..

“Mutant, come here little.. thing.. let me cuddle you.””

Was that going to work? Merlin knows.. but he had to try.

[Ginevra]

So that's what they looked like. Ursula decided to follow Professor Kennedy's lead in order to lure the creature. "Oh, hello there. Aren't you adorable? Let me look at you." Ursula said in a sweet tone that almost made her ill. Acting this way wasn't normal for her.

[Bazinga]

One last stop before she would be finished with the castle, Chloe made her way down to the dungeons. Maybe her brother was into the Slytherins and there was a girl that would be interested in him there.

So almost skipping as she was close to being finished she smiled at the people she saw, "Hello, have an amazing day!"


Turning to the dungeon wall she stuck the last of her posters.

[MUTANT!]

Fluffers liked cuddles. He WANTED cuddles. But the creature was still scared remembering the human’s angry attitude from before. How did they know if these humans were friendly?

Now one of the humans (Kalen) was walking towards them and he was whispering. Woah there friend, you might need to slow down. The fuzzballs retreated backwards, but not as fast as they were going before. Apparently, the man's soothing hisses were calming - if only a little.

The lady's (Ursula) sweet voice was even more effective at calming. One of the fuzzballs looked at her hopefully. She rolled towards her - slowly. She looked up at her hopefully.

…..cuddles?

Kalen instantly stopped his slow advances forward as the mutant moved back from him, you would think he would know more about magical creatures by now and he could only imagine a certain someone shaking his head at him right now.

Kalen slowly squatted down, a hand out in front of him. Very slowly as not to startle the man eating mutant.

“Come here. ” He said in a soft soothing voice. “Come here and let me cuddle you. ”

Would it work? He wasn’t sure, but he had to try at least.

Alice stiffened as soon as she heard (and then saw) the creatures. There were only two, but that did not lessen the horror and disgust she felt by gazing at them. They were so revolting. From the moment she saw them at the feast, she was revolted. Everyone else thought they were cute. But Alice was always very strange in the things she liked and hated.

Watching them and trying hard to suppress a gag, she did nothing. It looked like the others had this. If they needed help, then she would come in with her cage. Until then, she would watch from this distance.

"You're almost there!" she hissed softly to Kalen and Ursula.

[Ginevra]

Ursula had her hand out in front of her as she maintained her sweet, soothing voice for the creature. "Would you like a hug, sweetie?" she asked, making sure the cage was discreetly prepared. The witch made sure she kept calm.

[The Narrator]

The fluffy mutants eventually started to move towards the two people that were summoning them, and with slow careful movements they were put into cages.

After a thorough search of the dungeons, eventually every mutant was found and caged and hauled off by the ministry. Leaving the remaining Hogwarts Professors to try and clean up the mess that they had left in their wake.
