She smiled at her, but before she could say anything, she overheard the boy who'd asked about sports science and technology (Peter) mention culinary programs, and she distinctly heard the girl say something about pastry arts. She nodded. "Your friend is right," she said. "Most universities offer a culinary program, or if you're looking for something a bit more intensive, you might consider a school that specializes in culinary arts." She handed the girl a pamphlet for a wizarding culinary institute in London. "There's a program that would teach you to incorporate spells with pastry arts, if that's something that interests you. You could learn to make animal crackers that roar like a lion or trumpet like an elephant, doughnuts that change flavor mid-bite... the possibilities are endless."
The blonde listened fully to what the women standing before them had to say in response to Peter's questions. It sounds like he needed rather high marks on quite a large amount of how OWLs and NEWTs in order to get into this type of field work. She might not be so sure on the grades he had received on his OWLs but NEWTs were still more than a year away and she would gladly help him prepare for them. "If this is something you're really interested in Peter, I wouldn't mind studying with you for our exams next term." She would be studying for her own exams anyhow so they may as well study together.

Back to this women though. What was this about culinary arts? Cass was a good cook for sure but that wasn't her specialty. Baking was. However she took the offered pamphlet with a warm smile and had every intention on reading it later. What was this? Instantly her attention was captured. "It's just a program though? Not like a full degree though? Do you know which Universities offer baking programs or degrees? Magical or Muggle?" If she could get a Muggle degree in baking that was fine seeing as to how she was a Muggle-born. The idea of adding magical aspects to her baking though... that was something she really liked. "Would you happen to know if there are any books or something that I can read in hopes of possibly learning some of those magical techniques sooner or at least trying my hand at them to see if it's a route I would like to pursue?"

follow me; everything is all right.

Drip, drip, drip. Your keen ears separate a strange sound from the din of Job Fair conversation. A droplet of what appears to be deep red paint splashes onto the floor, then another and another. Where is it all coming from?

Your eyes gaze upward in the direction the drops came, and you're met with an eerie sight. The floating candles that light the Great Hall are dripping red paint. Suddenly they form the shape of a hawk, and a message appears on the ceiling:

EXPOSE THE INEQUALITY! END THE STRUGGLE!

What he said next did get a small laugh from her. "An admirable ambition, indeed!" She heard him say he preferred Osaka to Tokyo and nodded in approval of his reasoning. "Osaka is a fine school. I was a guest lecturer there several years ago." Granted, her area was astronomy, not curse-breaking. She had to think about the next question for a minute. "I know they have an in-field training program in Egypt, but I'm not sure about Greece." She handed him a pamphlet. "Here's some more information about the wizarding university of Osaka for you."
Jace was of course, proud of his home country. Most people who get to visit Japan almost always return with nothing but good memories despite experiencing some of its eccentric practices. He thought it wouldn't be much different for the wizarding folks, and so he just kept quiet nodding along as the professor spoke agreeing with what she had to say.

Jace was about to ask a follow-up question, however, he thought that the woman already had enough of his queries upon giving him a university pamphlet for his chosen school. The Ravenclaw dipped his head and received the paraphernalia with both hands, "Arigatou."

And as the woman moved on to answering the other students, Jace busied himself by opening the pamphlet and read its contents. He was thrilled to see the familiar Japanese characters printed on it, and read it with much enthusiasm.

With his hyperfocused mind enabled, Jace continued to read the pamphlet, taking mental notes here and there as he absent-mindedly walked around the area. With nothing else in mind but the pamphlet, the dripping sound was not heard-- before he could even say the word cursed, Jace stepped on a blob of red paint on the floor, slipped, and landed on his side, blinking in surprise. Now that the pamphlet in his hands was discarded upon landing on the cold floor, his eyes wandered to the other blobs of paint on the floor...

...and slowly up to the ceiling where he saw just in time, the formation of the bloodied candles into what the Daily Prophet called "ominous hawk" that he'd seen a few months ago in the dungeons with Matt. It can't be just any prank. Rather, was it something their former Head Girl, Kitty Valentine left for them as...a parting gift?

After visiting a few other booths, Ronan made his way over to the Wizarding University one. After all, it wouldn't hurt to have the extra knowledge for whatever field he chose to go into. In fact, most seemed to prefer it.

He'd just joined the group at the booth when he noticed one of the seventh years go down. "Hey, you okay?" he asked, before following his gaze to the ceiling and the candles. "Not this again!" Two drops of the red paint (at least, he hoped it was paint this time) landed on his cheek and chin, narrowly missing his mouth.

Kye stood by the table going through the brochures, trying to sort through them and put back ones she knew she would definitely not pursue.

Kye was looking through the brochure for Healing (which looked like something she would take a class or two for, but it wasn't a potential major). As she started putting it back on the table she noticed... What... What was that? Her eye had caught a puddle of red forming, and she stared at it with a furrowed brow. She looked up for the source and it was quite impossible to miss. So many questions flooded through her, and yet no words came to her. She just stared.

"Most guidance in your studies would likely come from the professors and department head of the program you decide to follow," Gavin remarked, thinking back to his own experience, both as a student and staff. "They would be the best bet in knowing what's expected in the program as well as the field after graduation and may even be of assistance in giving you connections to use later in life." He himself had a few people from his university days that he still interacted through years at the Ministry and his other jobs. "However, there are usually a general advisers for the university as well."

Then the subject turned to advisers, and once again, her partner was ahead of the game in answering. She nodded in agreement and added, "Most universities also have student advisers - upperclassmen who assist the incoming freshmen with things like class schedules, dorm assignments, and adjusting to university life."
Oh good, so living on campus wasn't a requirement and if things continued as she hoped with her current relationship standing, she had little reason to live on campus. Fly? Like fly her broomstick? Actually, she could see herself doing that. Or apparition, assuming she passed her test this summer. She nodded, mulling over the information given and oddly felt out of questions? How had she run dry so quickly?

"Well thank you both," she said, picking up a few of the various flyers on the table, as her attention was drawn back to Jace.

Perhaps it was Jace dropping Skylar a hint to still aim for a good University whether or not she'll pursue to become a professional Quidditch player. "I'm sure they have all sorts of clubs, including Quidditch, just like what we have here in Hogwarts...although theirs would be more challenging?" University seemed harder 100 times anyway.
She sensed the surprise about her playing professionally, but honestly, she didn't get it? Yes, she played quidditch was CAPTAIN, played on the Under 17, but that didn't mean Quidditch had to be her LIFE. She enjoyed the sport well enough, and liked to consider she was a decent player. She did nod though, picking up the subtle vibes that she should aim for a good university, a major school, which with her course load and work ethic, well, she could only hope for the best. "That probably makes sense. I wonder though, i guess teams and clubs play other schools, instead of having teams within the schools?" That was probably a given though.

Jace tilted his head to the side, trying to picture the scenario in his head since he's really not into Quidditch. "I suppose they have their in-house teams so they could play or practice with each other...and then there's an official Quidditch team to represent the school against another school team." Like how they do in his Kendo club. Jace will compete with his fellow dojo members, and every season, he'd get the chance to compete with the other local dojos with his team, and if did get to a place, he's allowed to represent his prefecture, and compete with the neighboring town.

He then followed his gaze back to the hawk and slowly shook his head "Whatever that is...it wants attention," the Ravenclaw said as he slowly sat up, rubbing his back. It was an unexpected fall...and he wasn't used to landing on hard, cold, stone floors. "This time, perhaps the professors will not turn a blind eye." It was said in the Daily Prophet that the Headmistress was awfully silent about the matter but perhaps, now she can avert her attention to it and stop making people slip on the floor with red paint. "That stuff on your face might be toxic by the way..." meaning, get rid of it now Gryffindor!

"I'm okay, I guess," he said massaging his lower back with his knuckle and reached down to pick up his discarded pamphlet. "And...no, I don't need a healer thank you. "This isn't the first time I've seen that hawk before...I saw one a couple of months ago in the Dungeons while I was looking for Matt. I don't suppose it's a prank...that text right there sounds serious to me..." And he supposes the students read the Daily Prophet, yes? This hawk thing was becoming more determined to get its message across.

Default hi guys {Skylar, Kye, Jace, and Ronan}
Yay, Hamlet! • Cathopper • Disney Fanatic • I was normal once...

Flynn had been minding his own business at the snack bar until he noticed the floating candles were dripping a red paint. He only noticed it because one of the candles dropped ON HIS HAIR..... then on his robes.... He sat his cup of tea aside and began following where the candles were moving, having an eerie feeling about this.

He stopped at the Wizarding University booth where Skylar and a few other people were already gathered at.

His eyes gazed back up at the ceiling, and he frowned when he made out what it was: the hawk. He read the message then he looked at Skylar, an unpleased look on his face. Before he spoke to her, he looked over at Kye, Ronan, and Jace to make sure everyone was okay - or as okay as he deemed necessary before he needed to get involved.

“Skylar,” he sneered. “We’re going to need crowd control.” Because this would be catching people’s attention. “Maybe even put an end to this job fair.” However, that was not his call to make. Where was a damn Professor when you needed one?!

andddd another drop of red landed on him, hitting his nose this time. Unhappy. He was UNHAPPY. He did not want to have to be an authority figure today, but now look, he was being forced to do actual work.

He pointed to Kye now. “You,” not bothering to remember her name, “go find a Professor. Now.” And obviously, he meant a HOGWARTS Professor.

Kye had still been looking the hawk over, wondering seriously how and why when she was distracted by Flynn. She almost found it amusing that he had gotten paint all over, but she wasn't in the mood to actually laugh. She was looking to see if their guests had started to notice this new issue or if they had even a clue what it meant when Flynn addressed... her? SERIOUSLY FLYNN? They had been in the same House and year for 6 years and the boy was still a wreck. Not to mention she was on their Quidditch team!! Kye was now annoyed with Flynn, but she had to admit he was right about finding a professor. Yea she could totally go up to the Aurors or Ministry officials, but would they think this was harmless art? No, they needed a professor. Which she would have thought all by herself thank you very much. Glaring at the prefect, Kye turned on her heel and went off in search. Surely there were a few here??

Rhibear ~ Madam Solo ~ Dark Brooding Girl ~ Accio Jedi ~ Gryffinclaw ~ Just a doll

Ragnild smiled at the boy (Jace) as he accepted the pamphlets she offered and thanked her in Japanese. How did she say "you're welcome" in Japanese? It had been so long since she'd lectured in Japan that she'd forgotten. If only her sister was here to tell her! As it was, she had no idea and had to settle for saying the words in English, "You're welcome; it's no trouble at all."

Another "You're welcome," was given to a girl (Skylar) as she picked up some of the brochures on the table. She half-expected this girl to ask more questions and was prepared to answer, but to her surprise, she was quiet this time.

Ragnild turned her attention to the other girl (Cassie). "The magical pastry arts program falls under the umbrella of a baking degree," she replied. "The classes for that degree cover a mix of magical and muggle cooking methods." She was about to cover the availability and requirements of said degree when something wet and red dripped onto her shoulder. What was that?

Green eyes glanced up and saw - was that a hawk formed by the candles? And what did that message on the ceiling mean? There wasn't time to think about it before the chaos started. The Danish woman watched with concern as one boy (Jace) slipped in the substance, but a girl (Skylar) was already helping him before she could react. At first she thought this was a prank until she overheard a couple of the Hogwarts students (Jace and Ronan) mention something like this happening before. Then another boy (Flynn) took charge and ordered a girl (Kye) to get a professor. All she could do was look on, too confused to react. What was going on here?

Gaston appeared on the scene as fast as his legs could carry him, unsure whether or not any of the other professors were following behind him. His bright blue eyes darted toward the ceiling; this was the first time he'd gotten a good look at the hawk and message. He made a quick mental note, trying to identify the spells used to form the candle-hawk and the right counterspell to use. It looked like a variation of the locomotor spell,
but somehow he suspected that might be too simple.

A drop splashed onto his face, narrowly missing his eyes, and when he wiped it away, his hand came away stained red with paint - or at least, he hoped it was paint. The alternative made him shudder. Now he had a more pressing matter than the hawk to attend to. "Everyone, STAND BACK!" he called to the crowd gathered. "Try to avoid the falling paint, if you can." There was no telling what this stuff actually was or what it might do to them!

Drawing his wand, he pointed it at each of the various puddles of paint on the floor in turn and cast a nonverbal vanishing spell. Then, he aimed his wand at the candles to stop more paint from raining down over them. Had that worked? Suddenly a thought occurred to him. What if... whatever this red goo was... was resistant to magic, like the hawk drawn on the bulletin board last term? He quickly came up with a plan B. "I'm casting a barrier over the area, just in case this paint can't be removed with magic," he informed the group as he performed the spell. If he couldn't stop the paint from falling, at least he could stop it from falling on anyone else!

Swedishfish Girl! Madame Librarian! Jess's Soul Sister! Sweetest Swede!

Laurel let Gaston and Kye obviously lead the way over to the WU booth. She was content with letting Gaston take charge of the situation. She would of course assist in any way that she could to make things easier. As she came closer Laurel took in the scene with the dripping red stuff that came down from the ceiling, the gathered students as well as the message that was hard to miss "Expose the inequality! End the struggle!". Shaking her head and shuddering slightly Laurel hoped that the red stuff that came dripping down wasn't either hazardous or poisonous or something else that she didn't want to consider right now.

Looking around at the gathered students (Skye, Flynn, Jace, Kye, Ronan) Laurel asked a hint of worry in her tone as she herself got splashed in the face with the red stuff. "Hi, is everyone all right? Nobody is feeling weird or sick in anyway?" Turning her gaze to Gaston she asked "What do you need me to do? Shall I send for the healer and the headmistress?"

Arts TRANSPONSTER!

Ollie looked from the brochures in his hands to the professor speaking to him. He raised both of his eyebrows and nodded as Disguise and Camouflage and Animal Transfiguration were mentioned. "Those sound brilliant, actually." And now he wanted to study both. What an impasse! He was kind of hoping visiting the booth would help him clarify his ideas, but now he had even more options to chose from! ...Actually, that was a very good thing. "Thanks so much!" The fourth year smiled up at the lady in front of him.

Boy, did he know Transfiguration was a broad field of study. Ollie pursed his lips as he thought revealing some of his studies to the professor in front of him might not be a good idea at the moment as some people might worry a little too much. The Gryffindor believed some adults would try and stop him from doing what he was trying to do, so he chose to keep quiet about it all for now. "I like a lot of it, I haven't narrowed it down to anything in particular yet. But I do like your suggestions, I'll definitely consider those!"

Before anything else could be said or done, Ollie heard a little commotion behind him and turned around to see Jace getting up from the floor and some adults rushing their way. Huh? The boy looked up and saw the red paint, hawk and message and frowned. Mouthing the words that were now floating above their heads, he wondered what the person who did that was trying to say. What inequality? What struggle??

Anna was THERE as soon as she saw some professors rushing towards the University booth. How exciting, something super serious seemed to be happening!! Also, some people looked worried and Anna was now very, very curious and wanted to know what was troubling them. Maybe she would feel worried too if she knew what was going on.

She looked up and saw the candles rearranged and painted(?) in red paint, which was now dripping all over them. "How odd." She said, looking around, trying to study the strange red paint when it dripped on the robes of someone near her.

Ollie's frown soon disappeared and a worried look took its place when he saw his younger sister rush towards where the commotion was going on. "No, you don't; you'll stay away from this!" Ollie said, rushing to Anna and pulling her by the arm to where he deemed safe enough.

By the time Gaston had finished with his spells, more drops of paint had hit him, streaking his hair and clothes with red, but that was the last thing on his mind at the moment. Once he was done, he cautiously glanced up, and to his relief, no more paint fell on him. Good to know that at least one of his spells had worked on this stuff! He was so focused on his spellwork that he didn't even notice Laurel until her voice caused his head to whip around. He gave her a small polite nod, but he couldn't quite hide the worry in his eyes. "Yes, send for the healer, please," he said. His blue eyes darted from the other professor to the hawk formed by the candles and back again. "And send for Hirsch too. If that hawk was created with dark magic, we'll need his help to get rid of it. We can inform Hawthorne later."

He refocused his attention on the students. "Anyone hit with the paint, please come here and I'll siphon it off you," he said, drawing his wand. "The good news is... I don't think this stuff is toxic." He'd been hit with quite a bit of the goo himself and didn't feel any different.

Jace was preoccupied shifting through his memory bank, trying to figure out if he could remember anything related to the texts or the hawk. So far, nothing comes to mind making him want to go to the library and see if he could find anything to be informed. It was all about information, right? People came forward, throwing instructions left and right, but Jace kept his silence. He instead used his wand for good and cast an umbrella charm over his head to keep the paint away from his person.

Professors Marchand and Vance stepped up to the plate, and the seventh year instinctively moved out of the way with his invisible umbrella on hand and watched the Charms professor do his thing. Soon as the barriers were in place, Jace kept his wand away and tucked it back into his shirt sleeve. "We're fine, Professor Vance, I think too it's just paint..." he said, looking at the others. Did they feel any different?

Jace however, did not have to step up towards Professor Marchand. He was old enough to siphon off the red stuff on his person. Once more, he got his wand out from his sleeve and began to clean up himself, starting from his shoes...

Actually, he did have a question.

Could he have a brochure?

Well of course he could. Though his companion behind the table had managed to answer the young man first so Gavin didn’t bother to repeat the affirmative from his end. Maybe something else would come, or perhaps he was indeed not at the stage that those type of situations were prevalent in his thoughts. He didn’t exactly appear old enough to be a sixth or seventh year. Not that he’d ignore him if that was the case…they were here for everyone who wanted to speak with them.

“You’re welcome….good luck to you.”

His older brother Jakub had been the star player of Mahoutokoro and ended up playing professionally almost instantly. His university education was nothing but a back up-- a far cry from what Jace wanted for himself. "Yes they do. Although he said, if he ended up in a major University, getting drafted would've been a lot easier." But that's not the point here, was it? Perhaps it was Jace dropping Skylar a hint to still aim for a good University whether or not she'll pursue to become a professional Quidditch player. "I'm sure they have all sorts of clubs, including Quidditch, just like what we have here in Hogwarts...although theirs would be more challenging?" University seemed harder 100 times anyway.

At this point, Jace's eyes were already sparkling due to the information he's hearing. Double majors were possible? How brilliant is that! He can take up two things at once, and get the chance to practice both in a few years time! "I do wonder though if the Japanese Ministry still need Aurors? I mean, Japan is pretty much crime free both in the muggle and wizarding world." he said shrugging, his mind drifting back to the place he calls home. "But I will consider taking it up nonetheless, especially if it's possible to have a degree in curse-breaking too." he said looking from Professor Gavin to Professor Ragnild. "I like the idea of breaking a curse, and then rounding up the person who did the crime." The idea was so grand it sent chills down his spine. "Osaka seems to be good choice so far. I like it better there than in Tokyo to be honest. Less busy and a bit cheaper to live in too." Jace continued, scratching his temple in thought. "Does the University in Osaka offer in-field training abroad? Like in Egypt? Or Greece?" Honestly, he did feel bad about leaving the UK soon, but he wanted to visit his second home during his university years if it will permit him, thus the question.

“I suppose just because there isn’t crime doesn’t totally mean it couldn’t happen,” Gavin mused, not altogether up on the crime statistics of the country of Japan as the young man appeared to be. “Maybe the aurors are more for preventing crime than dealing with it when it exists.” It made sense to strive towards keeping the peace just as much as fixing disturbances. Besides, Japan can be peaceful and not having crimes but they were also a place one could travel and emigrate to…one had to watch out for drama that could come into the country.

As for training abroad…

“That’s one of the benefits of the interconnection of the Wizarding University system, the opportunity to do classwork and training on various campuses that might not be your home campus.”

Magical Sports Science & Management? That's sound like fun. "What about the application requirements? OWLs and NEWTs wise?" He took the handout from the Professor and read it through. Not many Universities offered that particular degree? Hmm... "How about Edinburgh? Do you have it there?" That's where the man came from right? "Or London?"

Ah…there was interest in what he had offered the boy.

“The requirements aren’t too strict given the only recently lifted ban on quidditch that kept prospective applicants from playing Yes, Edinburgh is one of the campuses and London is a satellite of Edinburgh so its covered.” He should know, given some of his students were involved in that degree. Comes with the territory given his next response. “Charms would likely be the most important, given the spells that manage games such as quidditch. Cushioning…muggle repellant, etc. Herbology can help to know your pitch and the surrounding environs.”

Kye was looking through the brochure for Healing (which looked like something she would take a class or two for, but it wasn't a potential major). As she started putting it back on the table she noticed... What... What was that? Her eye had caught a puddle of red forming, and she stared at it with a furrowed brow. She looked up for the source and it was quite impossible to miss. So many questions flooded through her, and yet no words came to her. She just stared.

How had she run dry so quickly?

"Well thank you both," she said, picking up a few of the various flyers on the table, as her attention was drawn back to Jace.

But if she wanted to play professionally, she didn't really want to go the University Education route as a stepping stone.

Reading the contents of the pamphlets, Skylar was focused intently on the words, until she, standing right next to the older Ravenclaw, saw from her periphery and unable to react quickly enough, just followed his gaze from where he ... stumbled over his own feet or .... oh....

Uh. Uh. That message again??

What was this even about? And in the middle of a job fair?? Did house elves want to have other jobs too? What struggle? Squibs?

Squatting down down beside the Ravenclaw, she held her hand out to help him. "You alright? You don't need a healer, do you?" Because there was two over there, one being Harriet Paton's mother, the other, Mama Adara, both of whom she was familiar with.

Still staring at the ceiling above them, Jace looked from the formed hawk above to the younger Gryffindor who approached him.

Skylar's extended hand was welcomed, as he reached out for it and helped himself up. "I'm okay, I guess," he said massaging his lower back with his knuckle and reached down to pick up his discarded pamphlet. "And...no, I don't need a healer thank you. I have one who bothers me on a daily basis." Jace grinned and shook his head. If she only knew how much his uncle River bothers him in a day...

His mind and gaze may have wandered a little but when it caught the sound of dripping and then the sight of something red on a pile of brochures he was drawn back.

What in Merlin’s beard?

His eyes, with raised eyebrow of curiosity raised to find the source of the drip, only to spot the hawk and dripping message. EXPOSE THE INEQUALITY! END THE STRUGGLE! Year’s under his friend Ryan’s influence made him on alert even before his memory connected it with news from past Prophet articles. Gavin looked over at the new Gryffindor as he spoke on it happening again. “So it matches what happened before? A Ravenclaw they had been helping previously about Quidditch confirmed it. Whatever it was still going on.

And then a Slytherin prefect spoke up and took control of the situation, calling for a professor. Well he and his boothmate were professors but not the ones in charge of Hogwarts. Didn’t keep Gavin from taking out his wand and trying to vanish the drips before raising it to scan the wet red message to see for himself what he got out of it. What? He was always the inquizative one and if he could help by using what he knew, that would make things better right? The cleaning appeared to help but the rest wasn’t any clearer to figure out.

It thankfully wasn’t long before a professor, well two professors showed up with the student that had left to gather them. One being the face of a man Gavin placed as familiar given he was the charms professor here. They kinda did travel in the same schooling and circles. “I can certainly lend a hand in removal,” he spoke up to lend a hand rather than just stand out while everyone did what they could. “Trying to remember if we encountered anything similar in A+C but nothings coming to mind.” Removing dark magic and spells in general was the department’s job and back before being a professor it had included him.
