| | Potions lesson: let it shine There was a chill in the air in the potions classroom this morning, though that would be rectified soon enough as burners were lit for the brewing portion of the lesson. Yes, there would be a practical that morning, though Noble had the distinct sense the students weren't going to appreciate it very much. It certainly wasn't the most exciting practical on the curriculum, and in other years, he would have skipped it entirely and covered the material in five minutes of reading instead. This year though, it was a little harder to do that....so here he was.
As was generally the case for such lessons, there were a number of trays laid out on the side workbench. Of what was visible, one contained large jars of black powder, another contained the remnants of old burnt out candles, and a third contained what looked to be a pile of dirty old rags. The Potions Professor stood at the front desk, two pairs of shoes in front of him; the first, a pair of Italian leather men's wingtips, and the second, a pair of his daughter's rather scuffed up ankle boots. Hopefully the students had remembered to bring their spare pair of uniform shoes if they had them.
A glance at his watch said it was five to the hour, and with a flick of his wand, Noble unlocked the classroom door. With the current rules in place, he expected them to file in quietly and stand behind their workstation until they were told to be seated. |

| Stuck inside with Sirius | *Splish-Splash* | bamBAM | ☁ Spooktacular ☁ Noble started to apply polish on his daughter's other boot, glancing around the room as he did so. He saw that smile there, Hanna, as she got on with the polishing. It clearly wasn't taking her long to get her shoes glossy again.Juniper ladling out her polish also caught his eye; a satisfactory effort indeed. "Good work so far, Juniper."
And another person who was doing surprisingly good work? Maxton Carden. It seemed he'd found his wooden spoon, and from where he was standing, the polish was looking of very high quality indeed. "Hand, Max," Noble replied with a warning tone. He could forgive it this time given the standard of his brewing today, but other staff might not be so accommodating. "But yes, I expect you all to take at least one pot with you. And preferably use it, too." Although getting them to polish their uniform shoes in class was a good start. Maybe he wouldn't have to dock so many uniform points around the castle next week.
He noticed the Hufflepuff Prefect's hand in the air now, one shoe in front of her already looking shiny and brand new. "Yes, Daisy?" She had a question?

When Professor Noble turned his attention on her, she bit her lip and spoke softly, "I know this may be a rather stupid question. When I get to polishing the shoes I'm wearing after polishing the shoes I brought along with me do I have to put the newly polished shoes on my feet so I'm not barefoot?" |

| Stuck inside with Sirius | *Splish-Splash* | bamBAM | ☁ Spooktacular ☁ A stupid question? The corner of Noble's lip twitched a little. It turned out the question wasn't a completely stupid one, but he would have hoped common sense might have prevailed. "As long as you don't go wandering around the classroom, which would be a safety hazard, there's no need to worry about being barefoot," he clarified.
He raised his voice to address the whole class now. "You have two minutes to finish up, so get polishing if you haven't already! Those of you with perfect sparkling shoes should get packed up ready to go. I'll be doing an inspection on your way out." Best way to check if their potion had been a success, in his opinion - whether or not they could use it for the intended purpose. ooc note: That's pretty much wrap! I'll leave this open a little while longer in case you want to finish up...but thanks to everyone who stuck with me, I appreciate you all <3

Daisy nodded at Professor Noble's answer and carefully took off the shoes that she was wearing. She decided to give the rag she had been using a non-verbal, "Scourgify," before she wrapped the cloth around three of her fingers and swirling the rag in the container of polish. Daisy then applied the polish in a circular motion to her right shoe first before using a clean section of the cloth to buff the shoe which only took a few seconds. She repeated this process for her other shoe.
Daisy then cleaned her rag, placed her lid on her polish container and packed up her things. She put her shoes back on her feet and had her spare polished shoes on her desk, ready for inspection.
