Post 15+ 'Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald' deleted scenes featured in trailers

Fans have gone out in droves to watch this weekend's release of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, and for those with good, long-term memories, they may have noticed quite a few scenes featured in the teaser and Comic-Con trailers that were cut from the final movie. This is nothing new, and happens with every movie and TV show ever filmed; scenes always get cut for one reason or another.

SnitchSeeker went through the first two trailers (the final one released in September contained no deleted clips), and highlighted those cut scenes in GIF and photo forms.

It should be noted that some or many of these deleted scenes may make it to the DVD/Blu-ray cut of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald out next spring. It goes without saying that there are SPOILERS below.

Fans were excited to see young Dumbledore use his deluminator to put out a few lights in London... but that was cut from the movie.

This clip was used countless times to promote the movie, featuring Newt telling Jacob that they're heading to Paris for an adventure. A different take was used in the movie (though Jacob's "Genius!" was still kept in the movie).

Credence releasing his Obscurus into the Parisian skies? Also cut from the movie.

Funnily enough, this was the first glimpse fans properly got of Leta Lestrange in the teaser trailer, of her attending this party, but it was cut as well (two different sequences featured in both the teaser and CC trailers).

This isn't one, but TWO cut scenes from the final movie. One of Kama looking at the elaborate Lestrange family tree in his hideout to sort out the truth, and another presumably of Tina heading to said place.

Admittedly one of the surprising things about the movie was how little Circus Arcanus ended up being featured in the final cut (especially given the elaborate set the SnitchSeeker team saw at Leavesden for our set visit last fall). Here's a deleted scene of Credence checking out a poster for the circus, presumably before he joins.

This isn't so much of a deleted scene as it seems to be a different cut of Grindelwald's team (including Krall and Krafft) carrying coffins out of the villian's new hideout. Another quick and cut shot after that is a dubious one of Abernathy standing by.

This one GIF features three deleted scenes - the two mentioned above, and the third shot of Vinda Rosier looking to the side at another character.

Fans saw behind-the-scenes footage and actual shots from the movie of Dumbledore walking through Hogwarts corridors very dramatically but... cut from the final movie.

This is a slightly lengthier version of the shot of Tina protecting Jacob from Grindelwald's killer fires at the Parisian graveyard.

The flashback Hogwarts scene began with teen Newt warding off his boggart, not his Hufflepuff classmate starting off the class, as can be seen in the GIF from the CC trailer above. That was also cut (presumably for time).

One can assume this is in Newt's menagerie, but this particular shot of him with wand out and standing by his open suitcase was not in the movie.

While fans do see Newt and Jacob heading to the entrance into magical Paris from Muggle Paris, this particular shot isn't quite seen (and this scene is quick and fleeting in the actual movie).

Presumably a shot from Kama's sewer hideout in Paris, this particular shot of Newt wandering about was not in the final movie.

Finally, while Dumbledore did indeed take a look back at his past in the Mirror of Erised, there was definitely no shot in the movie of him randomly pointing at himself.

So these are the scenes in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald that were cut or edited from the movie, for time or plot development purposes, but definitely not the only set. These are the ones fans could spot from the trailers. The cast revealed a great deal more deleted scenes - including a longer clip with McGonagall teaching at Hogwarts - which will be reported on shortly.

Warner Bros. Pictures’ “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald” is the second of five all new adventures in J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World™.

At the end of the first film, the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) was captured by MACUSA (Magical Congress of the United States of America), with the help of Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne). But, making good on his threat, Grindelwald escaped custody and has set about gathering followers, most unsuspecting of his true agenda: to raise pure-blood wizards up to rule over all non-magical beings.

In an effort to thwart Grindelwald’s plans, Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) enlists his former student Newt Scamander, who agrees to help, unaware of the dangers that lie ahead. Lines are drawn as love and loyalty are tested, even among the truest friends and family, in an increasingly divided wizarding world.

The film features an ensemble cast led by Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Zoë Kravitz, Callum Turner, Claudia Kim, William Nadylam, Kevin Guthrie, Carmen Ejogo, Poppy Corby-Tuech, with Jude Law and Johnny Depp.

“Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald” is directed by David Yates, from a screenplay by J.K. Rowling. The film is produced by David Heyman, J.K. Rowling, Steve Kloves and Lionel Wigram. Tim Lewis, Neil Blair, Rick Senat and Danny Cohen serve as executive producers.

The film reunites the behind-the-scenes creative team from the first “Fantastic Beasts” film, including Oscar-winning director of photography Philippe Rousselot (“A River Runs Through It”), three-time Oscar-winning production designer Stuart Craig (“The English Patient,” “Dangerous Liaisons,” “Gandhi,” the “Harry Potter” films), four-time Oscar-winning costume designer Colleen Atwood (“Chicago,” “Memoirs of a Geisha,” “Alice in Wonderland,” “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”), and Yates’ longtime editor Mark Day (the last four “Harry Potter” films). The music is by eight-time Oscar nominee James Newton Howard (“Defiance,” “Michael Clayton,” “The Hunger Games” films).

Slated for release on November 16, 2018, the film will be distributed worldwide in 2D and 3D in select theatres and IMAX by Warner Bros. Pictures.

This film is rated PG-13 for some sequences of fantasy action.
