Default Review: Warner Bros Studio Tour Hollywood

SnitchSeeker recently had the opportunity to visit Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood, which recently added a costume display from Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald to their museum. The second floor of the museum houses a permanent exhibit of props and costumes from the entire Harry Potter film series, as well as Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, and studio tour guests can now see the costumes worn by the lead actors from Crimes of Grindelwald: Eddie Redmayne (Newt Scamander), Katherine Waterston (Tina Goldstein), Alison Sudol (Queenie Goldstein), Dan Fogler (Jacob Kowalski), Jude Law (Albus Dumbledore – pictured below) and Johnny Depp (Gellert Grindelwald). The first floor contains ever-changing exhibitions – on our visit costumes and props from DC Universe films Aquaman and Wonder Woman were on display.

One other cool thing guests can do at the museum is the chance to be Sorted into one of the four Hogwarts houses by the Sorting Hat.

After traveling past backlots and various sound stages, the tour allows guests to walk about the Prop Department, the Picture Car Vault – currently housing various vehicles from the Batman film series – and a soundstage or two (we stopped where the “Ellen” show is taped).

The tour concludes at a sound stage converted to showcase how every step of a film is made: Stage 48: Script to Screen. Here, guests see everything from script development to concept art to set design, as well as costumes and props from many iconic Warner Bros. films. Guests have the opportunity don Hogwarts robes before entering green screen booths where they can ride a broomstick through London – watching themselves via a monitor – and take a souvenir photo at Hogwarts.

Along with the green screen booths in the special effects area, there are several other Harry Potter references through Stage 48. There is a motion capture station, where visitors can stand in front of a screen with Dobby the House Elf on it and when they move, Dobby copies their actions. Additionally, in the casting section, there are headshots of Dan Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint on a table that guests can activate to see an audition tape.

Recently added to the Stage 48 are sets from The Big Bang Theory. When we were there, actors Wil Wheaton and Brian Thomas Smith (Zack), were on hand for the grand opening of the exhibits, where guests can sit in Sheldon’s spot (yes, we did). Oh, and one other thing not to miss at Stage 48 – you can hold a real Oscar award and take your picture with it.

Finally, Stage 48 also features a large gift shop with loads of Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts merchandise, as well as items from other movies and TV shows. There is also a display with Harry and Ron’s Quidditch uniforms.

Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood is open Monday through Sunday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with studio tours departing every 30 minutes and extended hours offered now during the summer season. Reservations are recommended and all children 8 years or older are welcomed. Tickets are $69 for adults and $59 for children ages 8-12, and can be purchased online here.
