Post SnitchSeeker gets 'Fantastic Beasts' 2 tidbits from Eddie Redmayne, more at London

SnitchSeeker was on hand, front-and-center, at Tuesday's European premiere of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, and got the chance to chat with many of the cast - including lead Eddie Redmayne - about some of the most important aspects of the sequel, and what's to come in future projects (yes, Rio).

SnitchSeeker spoke to Redmayne, on-screen brother Callum Turner, Jude Law (Dumbledore), William Nadylam (Yusaf Kama), Victoria Yeates (Bunty), Dererk Riddell (Travers), Thea Lamb (young Leta Lestrange), the MinaLima team, and producer David Heyman. Heyman, Redmayne, and Turner were delighted to speak to SnitchSeeker, a Harry Potter fansite and representative of all fans worldwide!

Highlights can be found below (especially Heyman evading questions about the possibility of the sequels heading into World War II). There are no spoilers for the movie in any of the interviews, so feel free to watch.

SnitchSeeker: In this film, the stakes go up a lot. There’s a lot more that we delve into. How was that process for you?
Eddie Redmayne:
For me, it felt like the first film had this romp quality to it. It was a romp to New York. There was chaos. It was joyous. It was fun. Newt was still very much in his own bubble. This bubble he had created in which it’s him and his creatures. Through the other guys, the other members of the quartet – particularly Tina – he pulled out of his bubble. Now the stakes are higher. It’s not enough really just to be in love with his own person in that world. You’ve got to make choices now and engage. So that’s what he’s being called upon. I love playing that side of him.

SnitchSeeker: How are you enjoying the premiere this evening?
Callum Turner:
I’m loving the premiere – it’s part of this amazing world, all these beautiful people (hugs David Heyman). Look at this! It’s so amazing!

SnitchSeeker: There’s a lot of good relationships. What’s it like working on set with everyone?
Callum Turner:
It’s beautiful, man. We all love each other. And you guys (fans) fell part of it. It’s an extended family. We shoot these movies really in a bubble and to be able to share – this reception is very touching.

SnitchSeeker: What’s it like being on set with everyone?
Callum Turner:
Everyone’s incredible.

SnitchSeeker: Seeing the actual sets, was that surreal?
Callum Turner:
Yeah, man, it’s great to build a universe. It is incredible to play with.

SnitchSeeker: And what are you hoping going into the next film?
Callum Turner:
Oh, I don’t know, man. I don’t expect or want anything.

Quote:
SnitchSeeker: What was it like stepping into very big shoes?
Jude Law:
The people behind the film never game me or made me feel in any way overruled or anything other than enthused. They gave me a great sense of freedom actually. I just felt lucky. I felt lucky that I was able to play a part that had all this incredible backstory in the books, and also had already been played by two great actors in his elder years.

SnitchSeeker: Did you find that easier, drawing from that?
Jude Law:
Not necessarily easy, just lots of material to use and draw on.

SnitchSeeker: Going forward, what do you hope for Dumbledore?
Jude Law:
I just love her (JK Rowling) storytelling abilities, and I hope she unpeels the truth slowly and carefully and meticulously, like she always does.

Quote:
SnitchSeeker: How are you finding the premiere tonight?
William Nadylam:
Mad. Crazy. I love it.

SnitchSeeker: Is it the first time you’ve experienced something like this?
William Nadylam:
This is the second time because I was in Paris. I went to the opening in Paris, but being here in London is something else. Its’ special because it’s England. We’re coming back home. And also the fact that this particular installment is one that bridges clearly to Harry Potter. We basically go back to school.

SnitchSeeker: Especially your character. It’s ingrained in him – the whole history.
William Nadylam:
Yeah, I love that because of that. So being here with the fans that know so much more than me – it’s really impressive. I’m really intimidated right now.

Quote:
SnitchSeeker: How are you enjoying the premiere?
Derek Riddell:
I love it! It’s my first time on a carpet like this. I‘ve never experienced anything like this before. The length of the carpet and the number of fans – I could get used to this. It’s very nice.

SnitchSeeker: In the film it seemed like you had a lot of fun chasing others.
Derek Riddell:
I’m responsible for trying to encourage people to come and take Grindelwald seriously. We’ve got a bit of a problem on our hands. So that’s an integral part of my role in this. It was just wonderful in that world to stand on those sets and look at the amount of work that’s gone into creating this. I love the first one. Because of the time period that this one’s set in as well it lends itself to being even more beautiful than the first one.

SnitchSeeker: Did your kids enjoy the film?
Darek Riddell:
Yes, they did! They enjoyed it. They don’t often get to watch me because most of the stuff I do is quite dark and not suitable for 9-year-olds. So I was very excited. It was basically the first thing I could take them to see. They seemed to love it, so that’s fine. Job done!

Quote:
SnitchSeeker: So your character is one that is going to resonate with everyone. Can you talk a little bit about her?
Victoria Yeates:
Has anyone experienced unrequited love? Yes. Also, I think it’s interesting playing the underdog. It gives her a long way to go. She’s very sweet, and completely in love and bending over backwards for the man she loves.

SnitchSeeker: What was it like shooting those scenes?
Victoria Yeates:
It was amazing. Eddie Redmayne is a dream. He’s the nicest man in the world. David Yates is lovely. All the crew, the way they create the sets, it’s an actor’s dream to get to work on something like this because you have a lot of work on the text. There’s nothing rushed. It all plays out. You get to find things and you get to follow your inspiration and create.

Quote:
SnitchSeeker: We’re from SnitchSeeker, a Harry Potter fansite.
David Heyman:
Thank you! Thank you!

SnitchSeeker: There’s a lot in the film that’s going to throw fans a little bit, expecially since Warner Bros announced that McGonagall’s going to be in this film. What was the decision to bring her in?
David Heyman:
Well, it wasn’t our decision, it was Jo’s. Jo writes from the heart. Once we go back to Hogwarts, McGonagall might well be there.

SnitchSeeker: And what was that like for you, returning to Hogwarts?
David Heyman:
Oh, you know, when you go back into the Dark Arts classroom and you have Jude Law there and it’s populated with children, I think for me – but also for the young students, many of whom are Harry Potter fans,, and Jude whose children and he himself is a fan of harry potter – it was quite a special moment.

SnitchSeeker: Moving forward in the series now, we’ve seen a glimpse maybe that we’re heading into World War II. Is there any temptation to feature some real characters – maybe like Churchill?
David Heyman:
We haven’t discussed it.

SnitchSeeker: Would you consider Gary Oldman?
David Heyman:
(laughs) That may be a bit too self-reverential.

Quote:
SnitchSeeker: What’s it like being at the premiere today? Is this your first time seeing the film.
Thea Lamb:
Yes, it’s just so surreal being here. It’s crazy.

SnitchSeeker: How was it stepping into Hogwarts for the first time?
Thea Lamb:
Amazing.

SnitchSeeker: And wearing the uniform – how was that? Was that living the fan’s dream?
Thea Lamb:
Yes.

SnitchSeeker: And being with the other actors, how was that?
Thea Lamb:
That was so cool to meeting everyone every day.

SnitchSeeker: And what were your reactions?
Thea Lamb:
The same.

Quote:
SnitchSeeker: How does it feel to be at the London Premiere?
Miraphora Mina:
Oh my god, we’re very privileged to be part of this whole franchise. You forget when you’re working – believe it or not, the people who makes these films are going to work every day – it’s hard. It’s not until you come full circle and sit in front of the screen and the lights go down and the music starts up and you think, “Oh yeah.”

SnitchSeeker: Is that when you can finally enjoy it?
Eduardo Lima:
Yes, yes.

Miraphora Mina: I think that’s when you really feel a little flutter. It’s always neat to see the kind of response it has still, after 18 years.

Eduardo Lima: And it’s funny because you forget everything that was mad or that didn’t work.

Miraphora Mina: There wasn’t anything mad. (laughs)

Eduardo Lima: No, but sometimes it doesn’t work properly and you have to redo things. And when you see the final thing like “Oh!”

SnitchSeeker: Do you ever design something and then see it differently on the screen?
Miraphora Mina:
Yeah, but you have to just live with that. A lot of stuff you design doesn’t make it, so that’s fine, too.

Eduardo Lima:The film is always about the storytelling and the character. It’s what Newt needs to do. So anything else … yeah.

SnitchSeeker: Your inspiration for the next film in Rio?
Eduardo Lima:
I hope we do that. It’s going to be amazing.

Miraphora Mina: He’s going to be very popular.

Eduardo Lima: I’m very happy, yeah.

Warner Bros. Pictures’ “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald” is the second of five all new adventures in J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World™.

At the end of the first film, the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) was captured by MACUSA (Magical Congress of the United States of America), with the help of Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne). But, making good on his threat, Grindelwald escaped custody and has set about gathering followers, most unsuspecting of his true agenda: to raise pure-blood wizards up to rule over all non-magical beings.

In an effort to thwart Grindelwald’s plans, Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) enlists his former student Newt Scamander, who agrees to help, unaware of the dangers that lie ahead. Lines are drawn as love and loyalty are tested, even among the truest friends and family, in an increasingly divided wizarding world.

The film features an ensemble cast led by Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Zoë Kravitz, Callum Turner, Claudia Kim, William Nadylam, Kevin Guthrie, Carmen Ejogo, Poppy Corby-Tuech, with Jude Law and Johnny Depp.

“Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald” is directed by David Yates, from a screenplay by J.K. Rowling. The film is produced by David Heyman, J.K. Rowling, Steve Kloves and Lionel Wigram. Tim Lewis, Neil Blair, Rick Senat and Danny Cohen serve as executive producers.

The film reunites the behind-the-scenes creative team from the first “Fantastic Beasts” film, including Oscar-winning director of photography Philippe Rousselot (“A River Runs Through It”), three-time Oscar-winning production designer Stuart Craig (“The English Patient,” “Dangerous Liaisons,” “Gandhi,” the “Harry Potter” films), four-time Oscar-winning costume designer Colleen Atwood (“Chicago,” “Memoirs of a Geisha,” “Alice in Wonderland,” “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”), and Yates’ longtime editor Mark Day (the last four “Harry Potter” films). The music is by eight-time Oscar nominee James Newton Howard (“Defiance,” “Michael Clayton,” “The Hunger Games” films).

Slated for release on November 16, 2018, the film will be distributed worldwide in 2D and 3D in select theatres and IMAX by Warner Bros. Pictures.

This film is rated PG-13 for some sequences of fantasy action.
