Post J.K. Rowling talks 'Harry Potter and the Cursed Child' on Broadway, future of series

J.K. Rowling briefly chatted about the transition of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child to Broadway with various press on Sunday, including Variety, Broadway World, WPIX 11, Syfy Wire, and Pottermore. Those clips can be watched below.

Quote:
J.K. Rowling: "One of the biggest challenges was finding a theater that could [be conducive to the production]. It's an intricate production, there were certain technical demands, there's a lot of magic happening on stage, so we needed to find the right space and the Lyric was, I think, [producer] Sonia Friedman said to me, 'It's been an unloved theater and it's a big theater and I'm not sure it will work for us [but] we took on the project of renovating the theater to make the play work, which was massive, so that was a huge challenge, we tend not to make life easy for ourselves."

J.K. Rowling: “I think we really have now told, in terms of moving the story forward, the story that I, in the back of my mind, wanted to tell. I think it’s quite obvious, in the seventh book, in the epilogue, that Albus is the character I’m moved interested in. And I think we’ve done the story justice. So I think pushing it on to Harry’s grandchildren really would be quite a cynical move, and I’m not interested in doing that.”
SnitchSeeker's interview with J.K. Rowling from Sunday's premiere of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child can be watched here.

It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband, and the father of three school-age children.

While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.

Seven members of the Original West End Company reunite on stage for the Broadway premiere: Jamie Parker (Harry Potter), Noma Dumezweni (Hermione Granger) and Paul Thornley (Ron Weasley) with Poppy Miller (Ginny Potter), Sam Clemmett (Albus Potter), Alex Price (Draco Malfoy) and Anthony Boyle (Scorpius Malfoy). They are joined by David Abeles, Brian Abraham, Shirine Babb, Jess Barbagallo, Olivia Bond, Stephen Bradbury, Lauren Nicole Cipoletti, Will Coombs, Joshua De Jesus, Jessie Fisher, Richard Gallagher, Susan Heyward, Geraldine Hughes, Edward James Hyland, Byron Jennings, Katie Kreisler, Joey LaBrasca, Andrew Long, Landon Maas, Kathryn Meisle, Angela Reed, Dave Register, Adeola Role, James Romney, Nathan Salstone, Malika Samuel, Alanna Saunders, Brooklyn Shuck, David St. Louis, Stuart Ward, Madeline Weinstein, Alex Weisman and Benjamin Wheelwright playing a variety of characters.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child features movement by Steven Hoggett, a set by Christine Jones, costumes by Katrina Lindsay, music & arrangements by Imogen Heap, lighting by Neil Austin, sound by Gareth Fry, illusions & magic by Jamie Harrison, music supervision & arrangements by Martin Lowe. US Casting by Jim Carnahan, CSA. UK Casting by Julia Horan, CDG.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is produced by Sonia Friedman Productions, Colin Callender and Harry Potter Theatrical Productions.
Tickets for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on Broadway are available at the Lyric Theatre's physical box office in Manhattan (the easiest way to get tickets), as well as online through ticketmaster.com and todaytix.com.
